Been hunting and cooking bunnies ( aswell as deer and roos) since moving to the upper Murry 3 years ago and love being self sufficient. But now the council is releasing the calisi virus because of a few peoples gardens being damaged . That and the helicopter culling and Vic trying to turn all parks into national parks rendering most people's genuine reason to own a firearm gone. Hunting in Australia is looking pretty bleak to tell the truth

@BoltActionProductionsКүн бұрын
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it and yes your credit card could cop a pounding with this thermal gear
@audieladd2476Күн бұрын
I know I'm going to cause some controversy here, but here goes, the following has been my experience with thermal optics after spending over 75k and still going for the latest and greatest. I noticed you had several "unexplained misses." That's what I've always had happen with "Civilian Grade" thermal optics and when it starts to happen, it's extremely frustrating. Civilian grade optics either have issues from the get go, or they develop them in time. That's why in so many cases you see a secondhand thermal being advertised for sale and it states, "holds zero" because so many just don't and everyone knows it. I know that whenever I find one that holds zero, it doesn't get offered for sale and the only ones that do that reliably are military grade. Now I'm not here pushing any one brand, so I won't mention a brand. My advice is to do your research, look at the brands that are continuously being offered for sale used, and good luck.
@WayneErickson-dg8lfКүн бұрын
100% agree! And all secondhand rifles are advertised as only having fired 20 shots.
@BoltActionProductionsКүн бұрын
No controversy here mate. Good information you have shared. I was only talking recently to a very well respected and experienced man in the Thermal industry about latency with different devices. It can be an issue that you definitely need to be aware of. Thanks for your input mate
@aceprecision1681Күн бұрын
I agree with you. I’m also very sceptical of any individual that states any brand is superior to any other. It may have been superior at the time of purchase, but certainly not six months after. Individual user preferences also play a big role. As for the unexplained misses, I don’t think anyone has yet produced a thermal hunting device with the perfect blend of refresh rate, NETD, processor power, lens size, etc. And how could they, when you consider the user variables and conditions. Cheers

A great watch and, as always, beautifully filmed and produced. Very refreshing to see one of your films referring to the metric system, - sometimes it's like watching an episode of the Flintstones. With all that tech it's more like video game rather than hunting. Justifiable for contact shooters but not if you like a challenge. Anyway, great information and thanks for another quality production.

great video. With the ID you talk about at the end, unless you have serious coin, I find IR really good for ID and shooting with spotting with a cheap thermal. But, a bit of fog and you're stuffed with IR and can see through it with thermal. There's still plenty of times i had to let something go with IR, but i guess at night, even under torch, it's the same issue.

Nothing beats a great dog handler. I've had many over the years and I mean many in the Wild Game Industry and always trained dogs on watching me , where I point and soft command. Obviously a different field to hunt as what your doing but the method stayed the same. I've seen people that dont know and use a harder method on a dog with natural ability and it doesn't ever work. Well done, great story and love watching this dog at work in your videos in the field. Well done.

How well you think a heavy adventure would handle?
@BoltActionProductions18 күн бұрын
Well Matt, that comes down to many factors but I’ll touch on a few. If you can’t keep your bike up on top of the sand and preferably in the standing position you are going to struggle and fatigue far quicker than you will on a lighter setup. How well you can ride a heavier bike in general is another thing to consider. How strong you are when you need to pick it up. Heat, soft sand and a heavy bike can test you. In saying this, many guys have done it on heavier bikes but did they enjoy it as much. I can’t answer that.
