@jharis.yokleyАй бұрын
Maybe I’ll do a video on this but, to me, improving pocket has a lot more to do with playing along to records than a metronome. So I would play along with any music that you think is right in the pocket

I have a simple question that I hope you will see and find time to answer: How much difference do you find in the pedal type you use? Single/double chain, direct drive, belt? And also, do you have a favorite type of pedal or a favorite specific go-to pedal and for what simple reason. Your time and experience is valuable so thank you for the lesson! 🙏🏿
@jharis.yokley21 күн бұрын
90% of the time I won’t adjust the pedal that I play on. Over the years I’ve learned ways to be able to play similarly on any pedal 🙏🏿 I don’t think I have a preference when it comes to single/double chain or anything like that

great video, thank you! do you have any advice for playing the doubles specifically? are you sliding into them or just kind of treating them like two singles in a row? that’s something i struggle w for sure. hope for more vids, these are great
@jharis.yokleyАй бұрын
Sometimes I slide into the doubles but most times I’m trying to get two ankle strikes for every knee drop. If that makes sense. I haven’t really spent much time on foot technique in general

I appreciate you showing the learning process as well as the application. when you end up in a situation where you're playing a part of one of the exercises in the real world, do you set a boundary saying "don't go there" for the sections that you tend to slip up on? or do you take the risk? I'm guessing you ended up cleaning that section with the 3lets to 16ths after what was shown in the video recording either way.
@jharis.yokleyАй бұрын
@@Xolin11 in the real world I almost always take the risk. I feel that even if I mess up, it’s not the end of the world. Also, I’ve learned how to cover up mistakes over the years 🙏🏿

Yo Jharis, I've been following your work and your channel for about a month now. I really hope these videos will be super helpful for me. Do you have any tips for me regarding triple strokes on the single kick (~3 years, self taught)? I can do doubles pretty fast but triples always mess me up and I end up locking up during the 2nd stroke at medium tempos. It just feels like a mental thing since I can do it without thinking sometimes but every other time I try it it just doesn't seem to click.
@jharis.yokley16 күн бұрын
Growing up, I always used to play along to the song “In The End” by Linkin Park. Playing that kick pattern over and over made my foot faster playing three and four strokes 🙏🏿
