I use click tracks, guides, and backing tracks at our church. I am the drummer and I love having them, I also played in the marching band when I was younger so playing with a metronome was something we always did during practice

I ran sound for several bands and ONE band, the drummer,(partner in a studio I had in Cleveland) ALWAYS used a click LIVE! Never a problem and over dubs back at the studio went fast and clean. Drummers GOTS TA HAVE METER!!!!

I have a question ... So my bands starting to use backtracks live for like synth, 808 drops, keys, samples, etc. I have NO idea how or what levels to mix the samples at. I have everything ready, im just not sure what levels to mix them at. someone please help a drummer out!!! :)

Studio recordings are so phony bc of the wealth of technology from click tracks to software to perfect subdivisions to individual parts being done for weeks on end etc... Every drummer sounds identical; like a computer. Every stroke perfect, every subdivision perfect, every fill perfect, every syncopation perfect... It’s a shame this is what music has become; contrived, artificial, and a fraud. I’ll be authentic, imperfect, courageous, and never use technology to mask my human flaws. Keep your click tracks, studios, and technology; it’s ruined what music and artistry was once all about...Creative Freedoms with the natural and beautiful element of Human Frailty.

To a point. This thinking has led to drummers to not be able to keep time whatsoever. If you cant keep time with a metronome you shouldn't be considering yourself a drummer.
