They are truly the single most underrated band from the 80’s

True. Anytime they are played on the radio it's always the bloody TopGun song!

They just don't make 'em like this anymore - I loved growing up with Berlin and Terri's voice is so so great. To live life without Berlin being part of it would be sad and left wanting.

Imagine yourself was in my shoes... I heard this song when i have 9 years , this song got stuck in my head for 30 fkg years without i even know what band was or the title of the song. You are talking with a man who is just watching the credits roll out in his life, and this is the song playing at it. Happy ending indeed...

Whilst at least some of the vocals are indeed live, none (or very little) of the music in this clip is live.

The best of all thier videos. SO much energy here. The musicianship was superb, with some maturity of age. Terri Nunns voice is so strong and confident. Watch later videos and they seem tired.

Ironically, I started this summer (2020) with “Heartstrings”, which I enjoyed hearing every time I viewed Spaceballs on Netflix, listened to the full-length original, then listening to other gems from *Count to Three and Pray,* hearing the studio original of this song, recognizing it from my favorite Joe Donte feature (Innerspace), finally arriving here. If I thought I’d taken Berlin for granted before, I need to admit I had no idea how much. If Linda Ronstadt were a hard rock singer, she would be Terri Nunn. No question.

I had been a casual fan of Berlin since "No more Words" came out the 80's (great video with that song) but I stumbled across this a few days ago, and was blown away with the energy and vocals in this performance which I had never heard before. They were right at the top of their game for this gig. It got me interested in what other material is out there (old & new) Some very polished stuff including their 2019 album Transcendance which has some great material on there including the title track.

I remember seeing a "Christmas" version of this concert on TV in the USA. (It aired in December but I think this concert took place a few months earlier.) The only clip of the band was them performing "Like Flames." I would love to see that clip again!

Love this band I saw them 9-16-19 at Jergerl's you can see me and my going bald head in during most of the concert. Until after I was on stage and was in the front on the right side. Terri, John and David played with Chris Oliva on Drums & Percussion, Carlton Bost on Guitars (Deadsy and Orgy great bands too he is in Deadsy my favorite of the 2 influenced so much by my man Gary Numan dark and or futuristic a lot as he was in his heyday and he still makes good music.) Dave Schulz on Keys and Synths too great show! I recorded it in 16Bit Wav>Flac (Level 8) on Sony IC Recorder somewhat bass bombed though.

Mirror, mirror tell me beware Coldly revealing all the faces I wear From a teasing smile for boys on the street To a shifty glance for eyes looking too deep Feel the light as it shines so bright Will I ever understand you Reach inside the truth is alive Will I ever understand you Mirror, mirror tell me no lies Never concealing the truth I deny People as playthings, games with no rules Queen takes King on a knight for a fool Feel the light as it shines so bright Will I ever understand you Reach inside the truth is alive Will I ever understand you Always fighting to find out why But it seems the answer fades into a white flag sky Feel the light as it shines so bright Will I ever understand you Mirror, mirror I could turn away From cracks on the glass and lines on my face Seven years searching - Will this ever end A second's reflection I'm searching again Feel the light as it shines so bright Will I ever understand you Reach inside the truth is alive Will I ever understand you Always fighting to find out why But it seems the answer fades into a white flag sky Feel the light as it shines so bright Will I ever understand you

Look for Wam Bam Live in Japan, its a better concert and has Like Flames (plenty of bootleg dvds of it on Ebay and the original VHS if you want that - Only came out on Laserdisc not dvd for some reason).

Just discovered this clip; the vocals are certainly live, but is she singing over tracks? Their performance is so, so exactly the same as the record, down to the drum reverb.

Yup - mostly mimed. Just watched it for the first time and it's so obvious. The guitarist is clearly not playing. Pretty sure all the music is on tape. Great vocal performance from Terri though!

Stef Birnbaum AKA Stef Burns....played with Sheila E also before Berlin. He was a good replacement for Ric Olsen (Ric was good but the Count Three and Pray album had some intricate guitar work and Stef played it very well). Greg Kuehn on keyboards, Belinda Skinner on backing vocals. Great session players all.
@momtnz5 жыл бұрын
He's playing bass, giveaway being he only has four strings on his guitar Andrew. Stef Birnbaum is the guitarist.

@@becssmith4154 Stef Birnbaum AKA Stef Burns....played with Sheila E also before Berlin. Ric Olsen left after Love Life album and tour around 1984-5, not sure why but I think the story is that John Crawford fired most of the band to take them in a different direction away from synthesisers I think - he mentions in the Bands Reunited episode that he had a good heart to heart talk with Matt Reid, Ric Olsen etc the night of the reunion and (privately) went into his reasoning at the time.
