Thanks Stefan! Which brand, please? Such a beautiful tone and round soft sounds. 👌🎶🌟🙂 And good tips, quite subtle differences. 👍I also noticed you blow like a trumpetist, you don't do that typical mosquito mouth that so many teachers tell you to do. It looks so much easier and less effort, the way you blow into the horn. Am I correct? A question: for those allergic to lower type and mixed metals, might you know where one can purchase an affordable French horn nickel-free and chrome-free?! I mean, mostly inside, too. The tubes, and all. As one can put leather along the handle side, and get abs plastic, or silver palette keys, also a plastic, silver or golden mouthpiece. But we also inhale the humidity or air, at times, the metal from inside. And, that's not good at all. I only found Engelbert Schmid and I heard maybe Patterson. Both, only custom made. The latter brand, I'm not so fond of. It's becoming more and more common and problematic for those who suffer from metal allergies. So, it's important for the craftspeople to change their materials according to that. I hope you don't have that allergy! Take care.

He talked about something so fundamental about all of Mozart's works -- simplicity, and just play at the correct tempo and everything else will take care of itself.
@laceyway47637 жыл бұрын
Gu Binan it makes sense that he addressed it though because some players need to be reminded that this peice is simple and elegant there's no need to add notes or speed up the piece to make it challenging because that's not what they are looking for but nonetheless this concerto can be made so much more if you stick to the fundamentals

The last sen thtence: "...and enjoy the music" really sums it up for me. Stefan makes it all sound so simple and straightforward, and yes, so comprehensible. The way he expresses his thoughts first and then shows the 'right way' shows what a great teacher he is. Thank you so much for a great video!!

I've never heard such a perfect and simple explanation of how to approach Mozart's work. Fantastic. No wonder he's in Berliner Philharmonic...and no wonder Berliner was the top choice (and is) for Deutche Grammaphon (my favorite recordings).

Number one reason most folks don't play Mozart quite right-its simpler/much more straightforward than you think (musically), but you've got to be working on your scales AND lip trills (technically), with a metronome, and with consistent effort AND patience.

I believe he uses an Alexander 103, as do his colleagues in the Berlin Phil horn section. He is the only one who uses the nickel 103, however, as far as I can tell. Others use yellow brass 103s.

On a period instrument, you'd have no choice! Kids these days and their valves and their pogo sticks....
@delewaldhorn2 жыл бұрын
Lips trills are good for whole tone trills, but it’s very important that the trill at the end of the exposition is a half step trill from E to F and not E to F sharp. In this case the valve trill is better!

Sorry, this dude might be one of the greatest horn players in the world with a very fancy name, and playing with one of the greatest orchestras in the world, but as a teacher and communicator, he will starve, too many dos and don't s. He cannot teach anyone anything, Sarah did it better. Same goes to composers, they are the worse teachers in the world, they cannot express an idea without drowning in a drop of water. I am speaking from personal experience, so do us and the world a favor, if you are not into pedagogy, please don't try to teach. If you're a composer, performer or conductor, but not a pedagogue, please don't try to teach, moreover, don't even attempt to write theory books. Again, I write these lines based on personal experience as a music student.
