I noticed with some of Jung's original work that he actually made a hypothesis at the beginning of the paper, then he suggested how that hypothesis might be testable but then quickly went in the direction of phenomenology which had some degree of empiricism but was still highly speculative. Part of the issue I think is the early Psychoanalysts were primarily trying to create theories for therapy and treatment. And they needed a basic practice for therapy. So it was about the establishment of a practicum or Praxis not pure science. You can see practicum training which is about the best practices for nurses or doctors in regards to how they interact with patients, which is also not 100% purely scientific and in fact draws from psychology. But I am very glad that Psychoanalysis is going in this direction. There has been some scientific research in regards to things like transference and basic cognitive functions which has gained ground in regards to falsifiable testing. Strikingly they rarely reference Freud or Jung of others who created hypothesis that are very similar.

Thank You so much , yes exactly it is a subjective metaphysical creation an idiosyncratic creative internalization maybe seemingly embedded in a collective theme ? But has it an empirical base or is it all actually metaphysical in its conception ? Freud and Jung differed on this important point, did Freud attempt to take the "soul" out of analysis ?

This is music to my ears. I have wondered how Psychoanalysis could be improved so that more people would be more receptive to treatment. It seems that the various models of Psychoanalytic treatment (whatever they are,) must be unified into a single core. Of course, this alone, would require agreement by different schools of thinking. Having completed my version of Psychoanalysis, based on Central Freudian thinking, I do have confidence in this healing process. Out of curiosity, is there data on individuals successfully completing Psychoanalysis? It's my belief that these individuals be contacted to give credence to scientific principles upon which to build and verify a unified model upon which everyone involved in the unification will agree. Then, specialties could emerge from the core, so that special interests could be explored for further treatment, ie., the wonderment of Death and the fear of death, etc. (Not an interest of mine,) yet high percentages of population seems to be terrified. The other suggestion is that classes for those preparing for treatment; it could identify optimal candidates. Certain skills can be introduced. Intuition, perception, and metaphysics can be discussed since each plays a role in the analytical process. These are simply back of an envelope thoughts. My central feeling is that the unification of the various schools ought to be the first steps for the Berlin Psychanalytic Program (?) Make it happen!

I was in a meeting with my department chairman discussing Psychiatry and there were no analysts present. I made the point and was received icily to say the least. The researchers and the analysts don't have a common language for the reasons Dimitrijevic points out--there isn't even a common definition. Until the analysts can see their work as a science and use falsifiable models--including models posited initially by Freud--there may not be a rapprochement that advances the good of the patient over stubborn clinging to Freud. Freud may well stand up to the test but unless tested, nobody can confidently posit his ideas in relationship to neurotransmitters and receptor sites.

Despite Luther the average German academician (they are all average, unable to think out of the box) has not been able to free himself from the clutches of the Catholic Church. Freud considered the Catholic Church his arch enemy.

Just abandon Psychoanalysis. It's not reformable and can not be reconciled with the scientific method. There will be no paradigm shift, since there is no consistent, identifiable paradigm to begin with. You made a mistake by pursuing a psychoanalytical path, maybe it's because you are from a underdeveloped country, where the tertiary curriculums are not up to date and hence Psychoanalytical studies are still offered to students, unlike Germany, where only evidence-based, validated and relevant fields of studies are funded by the main providers of tertiary education? This is not Romania or some other "emerging nation", no one, outside of your immediate peer-group (aka cult) of like minded people will take you seriously, unless of course the person is completely ignorant to the absurd nature of the psychoanalytical framework (if there is any at all)!
