The lack of love for e-bikes is a bummer. Typically, the "e" part is only used for the climb. Which means the rider can spend more time and human-energy on the fun stuff. A legal e-bike isn't tearing up the trail (power, speed, assist limits), and I wish they weren't so discouraged by seemingly needless restrictions. *There is a big difference between a legal e-bike (levels 1, 2, 3) and the illegal (practically e-motorcycles) that sticklers seem to imagine ripping up the trails.

In theory e-bikes can sustain higher powers in a way most un-assisted do not, accelerating erosion and perhaps posing a hazard in share spaces. I don't know whether there's any strong evidence either way on the reality of it. The 'rules' are only part of the story anyway, in the UK (and elsewhere) some people ride technically illegal derestricted e-bikes and scooters in public places and go unchallenged. Road-legal e-bikes are limited to 25 kph and 250 W I believe, and the user must always be pedalling to get power. In the UK, electric scooters are only allowed by local by-laws for hire schemes. Many of the 'illegal' bikes and scooters do no harm at all, and they're preferable to more cars, but we clearly need a properly harmonised approach to electric and e-assisted micromobility.

Love my ebike. Makes a 40 minute climb 5 minutes without huffing and puffing at the top before a descent. I feel way safer on the way down because I’m not as fatigued. Yeah, it makes no sense, some places are just slow to adapt and too many riders upset about ebikes when it does not effect them. @@lforrest14 to be fair, Kolo, Kanuga and plenty of places with in 20 or so minutes all e-bike friendly. I feel like that is the main false impression by people who don't have any hands on experience.
@lforrest142 жыл бұрын
@@BryanKeller724 It is absolutely the wrong impression. I have see a full trail system closed to all bikes for Two years due to the resistance some Mountain bikers gave to allowing E-Bikes on the trail. They went to the board meeting, and those against made those same tired arguments of bikes going super fast up hill, destroying trails, going super fast downhill. Counter discussion pointed out the bikes go no faster downhill, and they were wrong about the uphill speed. The board decided to ban all bikes as the riders themselves could not agree on the safety of people. It was weird, an only changed after the older people were finally voted off the board.

Real shame on the eBikes. Plenty of folks out there with chronic medical conditions, long term recovery or pain that can't do manual climbs anymore. eBikes allow them to get back out there without needing a gravity feed park (lift/bus). Also allows them to stay active and get stronger so maybe they won't need the e-assist at some point in their future. Not criticizing you or Berm Peak/Park specifically since it's clearly not your call. Just a frustrating mess trying to find places that do allow it. Please make that extremely clear on any informative pages that exist. Nothing is worse than not seeing them disallowed on official sites. Then driving a couple hours to find it posted that you can't ride.

My kid is 16 years old and wehigts with his e- bike nothing more than 80 kg in full gear, but i am with my normal dh bike almost 120kg with full gear .... So i could be use this bikepark but my kid couldn't.... completely pointless Maybe I see it wrong and there is another reason if so please someone enlighten me! Just a little curiosity. In europe, for example, in austria and germany, but even in slovakia (all european commission), the tracks in bikeparks can be used with an electric bike in almost every park without exception. Anyway, the work and the result are fantastic, I can only congratulate. I am very sad that there are not even similar tracks here in Europe in my country, Hungary. @@_tim___4234 Well then all I can say about the sanction is that it is pathetic. I guess many of us grew up in the era that we had to deal with the slopes uphill. Probably this is the envy of the ban. And envy is always a bad advisor. It doesn’t bother me at all if someone overtakes me uphill with an E-bike. It’s simply clear, but that’s why he should be hated because he doesn’t want to go down the same slope 2x in three hours, but has the option of 3-4x as well.

@@brandihodges9548 the point is simply that you should be able to ride a class 1 emtb anywhere you can ride any other mtb.

Why do you have such problems with e-bikes in the US? Here in Germany there's no difference in trails for normal and electric mountain bikes. And why would it be? A 100 kg rider on a 15 kg mtb is still heavier than a 80 kg rider on a 25 kg e-mtb. And in downhill trails the extra torque/ speed from the motor also shouldn't really matter.

You should be very proud. It is one for us to all sit here and blab, but to actually do what you did! that take an army and a lot of dedication, money and grit. thank you sir.

I only have my Scott E-Genius now. Sold the rest. Oh well. Live in Asheville but guess I'm not allowed. Of course we all know there are no pedal assist bikes anywhere in the area anyway.
