In Cypress and this is my first time with Bermuda, coming from Tall Fescue. Side yard is going to be the hardest to get going. It doesn't get much sun.

I live in dallas area, so im what about a month behind your schedule? Im trying to drastically improve my lawn. Lots of uneveness, thin spots and spots hardly growing any grass. This is only a year and a half year old grass.

You can use the levels on your rotary mower. You can make some vast improvements to your lawn in a year!

Should I pick all the weeds out before I throw my weed and feed?
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 10 ай бұрын
If you have a manageable number of weeds, I would opt to hand pull. If it’s a little more widespread I would probably wait until March and then apply a post emergent. For broadleaf stuff I use Celsius. For sedges, either Certainty or Sedgehammer. If you’ve got poa as well, go with Certainty. I would suggest to keep your weed killing and fertilizing as separate products.

I’m in North Texas. Is there a particular month that’s best to level Bermuda?
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 10 ай бұрын
Late March-Mid April is the best time in my opinion, but that's solely based on the fact that you can do a leveling project without killing yourself in 106 degree heat haha

So I’m confused my question is do I scalp first all the way down or do I do the pre-emergent and then scalp because that part doesn’t make sense to me I also am in Central Texas.

mannnnnnn, "weed pressure" is an understatement! I'd have to accidentally spray some post emergent on either side! LOL

@@LawnInsideryour neighbors weeds are a damn shame. I have a neighbor who keeps a crappy lawn also. Its such a shame when you put so much effort into your lawn.

Thanks for the videos. I follow alot of other folks but i leverage alot of my info on you as i'm out in Katy Texas. Scalped and Pre emergent down. Just itching to "Throw er down" but waiting for you to mention it. My lawn is already starting to green up a bit and my soil test shows me low on all the Macros.

I put some pre emergent in January, can I do another round or is that too much? Also my Bermuda is dormant but I have a bunch of “green” weeds. What should I do?
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 10 ай бұрын
Don't make another pre-emergent treatment right now. You can consider possibly laying some down in May, but hopefully you've got your bermuda crowding out your weeds naturally by that point. As far as green weeds go, if your temps are relatively warm (highs in the 70's) you can treat them with a herbicide. If you're still in the 50's/60's I would hold off for now. You could always hand pull as well if that's feasible.

Hello, what kind of weeds would you classify those as? I live in Texas and have the same ones. I’m not sure how to treat them(post emergent). I also have Bermuda grass type! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 10 ай бұрын
So as far as classes of weeds I break mine down into 3 primary groups. Broadleaf, grassy, and sedges. I keep a broadleaf and sedge killer on hand. For some of those grassy weeds it will require more specialized products, but I’ve never needed any of them.

@@LawnInsider Thank you @LawnInsider! 🤙 My backyard is infested with broadleaf weeds because I didn’t put down any pre emergent prior to winter 🥲 I just bought prodiamine 65wdg per your recommendation for my application in this upcoming week. But, Is there a specific formula/brand of post emergent you would recommend to kill off the already existing ones? I also bought a weed pulling tool but I feel I might be out there for a whole week pulling weeds unless I spray/throw something down to help with the “weed pressure”. Thanks again!

Would you ever spray pre-emergent on your neighbor's grass, just to help protect your lawn from the weed pressure? It is raining too much in Dallas for me to apply pre-emergent. Hopefully this week it will be nice enough to treat.

I have a neighbor who barely takes care of his lawn. I share about 4ft of his lawn(to the perimeter line). His weeds have choked my side regardless how much i put down treatments. It just doesn't help and the weeds have found their way to my biggest lawn side because the usually cut through my lawn when im not around. I guess they polinate the weed seeds when they cut through their lawn and mine. I'm wasting so much money on weed treatments I'm about done and let it be. Let's all enjoy our weeds at this point.🤬🤬

Hey man, moving into a new construction home next week, and the sod was laid back in early January. You can still see the individual pieces of sod, and I am just curious on what the first steps I should take when I move in. Located in the DFW area. I appreciate any help man!
@infinitibottle
@infinitibottle 10 ай бұрын
Get the builder to fix it. Im in a new neighborhood also north of DFW airport. I’ve walked my neighborhood and seen sod laid half ass with 3 to 5 inch spacing. Totally unacceptable. The large gaps are still there after a year.

Im a fairly new home owner in Cypress, Tx, i moved in back in May and have been struggling with the grass since. As you know this summer was HOT and i dont think the sod had time to truly root in. I struggled with watering just to keep it alive. Also have some spots that the grass just kept dying and nothing is helping. This year im trying to get ahead of the game and do what i can so that my yard looks nice this summer. Im getting a sprinkler system installed this weekend. I feel the soil is tightly compacted so i order the 2” aerator boots to try but am thinking of going ahead and having it gone over with a core aerator. What else can i do? What supplements/fertilizer should i use?

Am also going to try the scalping method in a few weeks. I was thinking of detaching but i guess thats not really good on Bermuda

I’m in Temple about an hour north of Austin. No freezes in the forecast should I be applying anything like freedom fertilizer and I’ve got quite a bit of poa can I spray it yet with certainty or do you think it’s too early
@michaelrobledo7701
@michaelrobledo7701 10 ай бұрын
Not yet on the fertilizer. You definitely can spray certainty right now, I've already sprayed my poa as little as it was 😅.
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 10 ай бұрын
Michael is correct. Hold off on the fert for now. Temps are relatively warm now, so Certainty wouldn't hurt. Just know that as the temps begin to climb, your herbicide treatments will become more effective.

In the college station area. We might have 1 more freeze this week and I’m guessing that’s it. After that should I scalp? Needing to also level the lawn. Lot of low spots.
@LawnInsider

Once you're fairly confident the last freeze is behind you, it's ok to go ahead with your scalp. I'm going to have to level a bit as well! At least where I had to repair my irrigation.
