i have Bermuda grass here in northeast El Paso, About 2 years ago my lawn looked beautiful but we didn't water consistently the past 2 years and now there are lots of dirt patches and different types of invasive grasses, What do you recommend as the first steps for lawn revival? September 10th

Normally I would suggest a soil test but we can get more routine and basic by starting with a solid watering regime (3x per week mornings only) , frequent mowing (1-2 x per week)and implementing fertilizer all to promote growth. If anything, frequent mowing is gonna be your best friend even when the lawn looks like it doesn’t need to be cut. Bermuda spreads laterally with stolons and by mowing at a lower setting your will be promoting and redirecting the energy of the plant to spread and fill in the bare dirt areas.

My new sod grass is starting to look like this. Sod installation was in April/May. There are spots of dryness all over. Maybe I cut it too short. Do you recommend I put topsoil over the areas that looks dry? It seems like the people who installed it didn’t level the lawn so there’s grass that is higher than other grass. The lower parts of the grass are dry and look like it needs dirt. Or is it normal for new sod to be dry right now?

Scalp Add sand mixed with dirt mostly sand then use a leveling rake next spring will be nice

Howdy and great questions. I’m curious as to Your grass type and how you’ve been watering an fertilizing this season along with your location. Leveling can be done at any point time so long as you can withstand the look. Otherwise a great opportunity for leveling is in the spring during the first scalp of the season.
