Epic. Thank you Peter for taking the time to record this and share it... How many miles have you sailed in the 111?

Thanks again for the wonderful Video. It helps to get through the winter without sailing “Joy”.

Another great video. We left St. Davids Head about 4 hours ahead of you on the J-121 headed to Buzzards Bay so sailed in a lot of the same conditions. Since we were not racing we ended up going bare poles overnight when the sh*t really hit the fan. Just way too much pounding to deal with. And we lost our prop somewhere and that made the light stuff north of the stream frustrating. Not one of the more enjoyable deliveries.

Really well done, especially shorthanded in a 111. Not the easiest boat to DH on a long distance race. Nice move on Phil at the start ;)

Yup. The 111 is a handful. Loved it, but the new J/99 is more suited to this type of sailing.

How is the 111 in really heavy air ?
@PeterGustafsson14 күн бұрын
It's a fun boat that can go fast. Our record is almost 25 knots in 30 knots downwind. But it's also a boats that needs to be managed, so quite some work when. you're only 2 on board. Maybe not ideal for these kind of races....

@@PeterGustafsson Such fun! I am dating myself but I remember the first J 24’s lost their rudders in heavy air during an Off Soundings race. They have come a long way since then. Have fun with the new boat !

Didn't race back, but did the delivery and hands down some of the worst sailing I have ever done. Got knocked down and had to heave to in the middle of the night.
