The end made me cry a little. The innocent version of Ashfur, Ashkit, is allowed to return to his mother in death. But Ashfur as he was at death had done far too much at that point to deserve forgiveness, so he watches as the last remnant of good gets the ending it deserves, while the rest of him is left to disappear. Incredible stuff

Love the irises and finer details on Ashkit at the end, showing that in the beginning, he used to be just like any other cat… somehow, he just became twisted into that shadowy monster along the way, most likely starting with the death of his mother, and learning to take revenge on those causing him pain by assisting in defeating the dog pack not to protect the clan, but to avenge Brindleface. I actually think he was encouraged to think about it in that sense and let his anger fester, as after he and Fernpaw volunteered, Whitestorm said to let them come, and that “their anger will make them fearless”. Apparently that wasn’t the only thing Ashfur’s anger was capable of.

I love the idea of Brindleface taking Ashkit away whilst leaving Ashfur behind. It's almost this symbolism of "You have taken so much from so many cats. But you will never take my child away from me. You cannot hurt him. This is my kit." It's so touching to think of Brindle instead of mourning her son for who he was after her death, she cherished him for who he was before.

I really love how, when Hollyleaf kills him, it *looks* like the fire is dissipating, but not quite; the beach looks like smoke, like ash, almost. And the fire rises from the ash. Then Bristlefrost leads him into the actual water where the fire turns off completely. You're a visual image genius and this made me feel a lot of emotions and i love it SO much

I love how every single other cat is detailed with normal proportions to any other cat... and then, there's ashfur. He's a silhouette most of the time. Nothing but a shadow and eyes, with too many teeth and a mouth that stretches too wide. He's so MONSTROUS the entire time. He softens a little bit during the 'honeymoon phase' of him and squirrelflight's relationship but he's still uncanny in a way that's difficult to describe. Love this whole pmv soso much

i really like how the second time the lyrics "life and death will always lead you to love and regret", it comes across like ashfur is parroting the same words squirrelflight said to him during the fire scene right back to her - it feels like he might do it as a deliberate callback to confirm that she's right and it is him possessing bramblestar, it's really interesting. the angle of his head when he says it is also an amazing decision, i love how uncanny it makes him look!

I love how progressively monstrous you make him, particularly around the mouth / teeth, as his hate and selfishness continues to warp him into something increasingly despicable. Fav. frame in that regard is definitely him leaping at 4:13, with the silhouette at 3:20 as a close second. Also love the color palette; it's a breath of fresh air from all the red/orange Ashfur pmvs (and also reminds me of the fact that blue fire appears less dangerous if you're unfamiliar with it, but actually means that the flame is burning significantly hotter than 'typical' fire and will horrifically mess up your hand). The pilot lights on the stoves at work are so pretty, but so unsettling, bc they're that sort of blue flame

This is SO amazing i literally cant stop watching it!! I know a lot of other people have already said this but god i love how your style makes ashfur seem like a specter/inhumane, even when he was alive. I love all the tiny details in this, the simple style makes those details pop and give so much more meaning. Like what someone else mentioned how ashkit has irises, showing just how far off ashfur had gone from his innocent, younger self. Im not sure if it was intentional but at 4:34 when his life is flashing before his eyes, he has slightly more detail (like more outlines, a nose, visible tears) which just makes him seem a little less.. otherworldly/uncanny valley ish and more humane, far easier to sympathize with. like despite how he appeared on the outside when he was alive as cruel and coldhearted, deep down he still had a heart. Hed been too blinded by his grief, rage, and wrath. And he didn't realize what he'd wasted until his life was literally flashing before his eyes as he drowned. Second comment because I just noticed, Ashfur is lacking a lot of line art and details that other cats have, kinda signifying the rift between him and them as a separate entity, possibly because of his obsessiveness, instability, or murderous/vengeful tendencies. And this could be because she’s a very deep and dark black, but Hollyleaf is also missing these finer details that other cats have, looking more like a silhouette, and without a visible nose (the nose being missing is actually what brought my attention to the differences between Ashfur and most other cats, making him seem more shadowy). This could be because of her own obsessiveness (towards the Warrior Code and what’s lawful or not), instability (she really did lose it after learning her birth was unlawful due to how obsessed she was with upholding the Warrior Code), and murderous/vengeful tendencies (need I explain?). I could be connecting points where there are none, but if this detail was on purpose, congrats! I caught it!

holy shit, this might be my new favourite ashfur video EVER--which is saying a lot considering the roxanne and rory MAPs were my top favourites for years. the depiction of ashfur being this monstrous form of a cat, with less details in his features than any other cat really depicts the terror that he inflicted on everyone else. I really like the simplicity in everyone else's designs, and then you turn to him and he's this hulking form of hatred and anger. I also loved the way that you depicted ashKIT being taken by yellowfang to starclan, the purest part of his soul, and ashfur being left to sit with his fire. I've never heard this song before, but it struck me so immediately with being perfect for ashfur, and god your lineless style is just a chefs kiss alongside the vibes of the song. beautiful work!!!

Not a huge fan of warrior cats, but I find myself occasionally looking back on some old animations around it when I still read the books. While I was doing this, I came across this and I usually refrain from commenting often but I just had to stop to praise this. This is genuinely my favourite Ashfur portrayal, the artstyle is simple but good. I don’t like Ashfur any more than any other Warriors character but you were able to portray him in a different light which I really enjoy. You made him seem like a genuinely villainous character rather than some goofy twinkish emo guy. You made me find this dude interesting after years of Warriors being forgotten in my world, for that I applaud you. I love this artwork.
