He's clearly relieved here to be out of an awful situation. Sometimes being happy is more important than anything else

It was mutually beneficial for both parties, and probably inevitable. But anyone still banging on about Suede not being as good without Bernard needs a good cuddle. Hush little babies 👶

@mikeloomin2424 I wouldn't say they've done AS good but they've shown they can still make a great album. Autofiction might be the best thing they've made since Bernard left

They both made amazing music apart - and continue to to this day. The most recent Suede album was probably the best of the reunion albums (tied with Night Thoughts), with a dark, mature sound. And Bernard's latest with Jessie Buckley is a gorgeous slice of well-crafted and sublimely arranged English folk. Long live Suede and BB x

Why “English folk”? Jessie Buckley is Irish and Bernard Butler is Irish by blood. There’s nothing peculiarly Irish about the album but there’s nothing peculiarly English about it either.

Writing and creating the mood of those early suede songs is where his unique greatness lay. People could copy his playing but not his creativity.

I think Bernard has to be pushed by Music companies to create good quality music. Music company good offers and fame would be motivated him after his 2nd solo album. But Music Industry was killed by free music downloads in Internet through the 2000s. Then he has to stop making solo albums beginning of 2000s since there were less album sellings. He could have made a couple of good albums in 2000s. It was very unfortunate thing for him. But he could be more productive in Suede compared to Solo caeer. It seems their friendship broke up since their high egos. Also It seems their problem solving skills are not good. Now Bernard dont make any solo albums probably his fame is lowered since 2000s dead period and his will, abilities and ambition is lowered since big break.

Bernard is still making solo concerts. So, this could mean he is open for music companies new solo album offers. I also think he is open for the offers both as a producer or singer.

@@sunny70299 good for him and I’m glad he’s happy. However suede are getting stronger with each album release now. And Richard Oakes has come out of Butlers shadow producing some amazing guitar work. The new suede album also reached number two in the U.K. album chart.
@mojopin1997 Жыл бұрын
@@sunny70299 Maybe their music wouldn’t have been as good if Butler was still around. Imagine coming up and all the suede mark 2 albums never being released? I was not a fan of the tears I thought it was pretty mediocre music at best. Of course the early butler years will always be the golden era of suede. However, how many bands have reformed and still making strong albums. I think you exaggerated in what you said about Oakes. I interpret as Oakes was in butlers shadow for years. It wasn’t till night thoughts that he started to get respected with fantastic guitar work on tracks like I don’t know how to reach and followed by other highlights on the blue hours fly tipping. Brett must of had that butler quote before 2013 maybe?

We'll never know but the Anderson/Butler work was way superior to anything post.....DMS will always be their greatest work

@@nihilistlivesmatter thought the debut album was better than dog man star. Every band has their moment. Radiohead will never top ok computer, oasis will never top definitely maybe, pixies will never top Doolittle and so on. Whether you think butler era is the best or not you can’t deny suede’s post reunion work is way more superior than any other band that reunited.

@@mojopin1997 Admittedly it's subjective but DMS has Suede's two greatest moments in wild ones & asphalt world....And I'd point to Californication & By the way as the reunited band quality benchmark
