A little gem of a clip showing Bernard Cribbins at his entertaining best on the BBC's 1970s show, 'The Good Old Days'

He displays this fascinating quality that's not quite coarse and not quite camp, but dancing about in the no-man's-land in between. It's not the sort of thing I can put my finger on... but there's certainly a lot of it about!

It's grown up double entendre. Not lewd but suggestive. I find him hilarious My family used to do this. You could joke in front of kids with it.

Well talk about touched by genius, this song has been twice - penned by Ronnie Barker and performed by Bernard Cribbins - owzat! what 'a way with the words' -and introduced by Leonard Sachs, what a threesome!

Yes, we used to always watch this show, "Bernard" was one of many talented "turns", we used to enjoy. Really do miss the sights & sounds, of a "Victorian" music hall. Your spirits always seemed raised by the end of the show. If you do not mind, I will "Add To" my page. :)

Rebecca Ingham - for some reason, there's no 'reply' facility under your comment about wanting to find the music for 'They Tell Me There's a Lot of It About' as performed by Bernard Cribbins. I hope you find this message. I, too, wanted to find the music to this comic song, so I did some research. It was written by the late, great Ronnie Barker, so I bought a cheap copy of his book, 'All I Ever Wrote,' and all the lyrics to all FOUR verses, along with the chorus, are printed in there! So far, I haven't been able to find any music for it, or even the chords - it would make a great little number for the ukulele - but the words are an important start. If you could email me on sparkoparkes@yahoo.co.uk I can send you the complete lyrics. They're much too long to put on here. Hope that helps?
