Please make this comment seen! The ledge you are sitting on is the same ledge where I had my picnic with a friend. We couldn't advance because in front of us was a tourist with no mountain knowledge that tried it alone. The tourist broke his leg in the caves... Another dude pulled him up for hours while my friend and me each took a second bag to help. No helicopter could come, the weather had changed in an instant. If you read this comment be aware that it is NOT a good idea to : - do this alone. - do it for the first time without someone that has done it before. - prefer filming equipment instead of water and food. - sell it as an adventure. For most of the people that live in the area and do the via ferrata often it might be an adventure. But even so, the risk is real. Be careful and take care.

As a climber who is had a few epics myself. I find is mildly amusing how tourists think the mountains are just a theme park that doesn't require any physical fitness. We have a problem with tourists in Canada getting stuck on Castle mountain from fallowing routes on the All trails app not realizing it is alot of route finding in 3rd class terrain and the weather near the peak changes rappidly

Some people have been asking how I got down. There's a sort of trail on the other side of the mountain that takes you all the way back to the campsite. It took me 4 hours to get down, and I arrived at the van by 1 AM. But to be honest, that was the easiest part. Please do NOT attempt this route if you don’t have experience-it is extremely dangerous.

@@aspoonfullofadventure3049 If you have some respect towards yourself and towards what you could give rise to, you are more likely to warn people not to do this alone. Let people do what they want (for instance I also did this via alone), but you could agree that it is better to just "warn" people not to do it alone. For the 0.001% unexperienced people that would go there and be exposed to danger. Maybe it could save them, maybe it won't. But there is more chance that it will help that it won't right ? So why not just warn them to not go there alone ? It's just a mention of smth, why do you go "uhr he's telling it's sketchy so it's enough for unexperienced people to not go there" but man people are dumb, so where's the harm in taking 3s to warn people ??? Don't know if that has been mentioned already in the comments, but a good idea is to have a short leash on your harness (or even just a quick draw) to just anchor yourself here and there and relax in the harness. You would rest your arms and legs. Also, it's no super clear on the video, but if that's not the case you should really have autolocking carabiner, not those with normal gates as they could open by bumping on the rock.

@@jonasbehr7521lol i got a great example of type 3! that was free climbing in Colorado & spelunking for me, by the time I had 25 I’d dodged death more times than I could remember, and eventually a stunt on a glacier, resulting in me falling, which the local teams said kills or paralyzes most people. After that, I’d get jelly-legs & severe anxiety at worst possible moments on the cliff, further endangering my life, and was tied to the growing knowledge of how badly things could have gone for me and my friends. Now, I only do the same hikes my mom does. As for spelunking, like who thought it was a good idea to teach 15yo me that 4hrs spelunking in deep caves is a fun hobby! I wince thinking about all the close calls in there…… Maybe god put a brain tumor on my spine at age 27 because he figured otherwise I’d break it myself (again, but for good this time).

If you are interested in via ferratas, there are difficulty and endurance ratings. The Daubenhorn Via Ferrata is the most difficult level in Switzerland (K6) start with an easy one like K2 or K3 and work your way up. Having experience in rock climbing and mountaineering to me it was great fun, I loved the big cage and actually at the top where you unclipped there is an extra part which is the scariest of them all but super nice if you like the adrenaline kick. Also always start early, you were probably by yourself because everybody else was long gone. But kudos for pushing though 👌🏼

> 100% do the cable car or better yet: stay at the hotel at the top of the lift. You want to start this at sunrise or within 30m-1h (8-9am latest) from lift open as completing this takes 8h-10h. Even if you're an expert there's some bottle necks and you might have to wait long times to cross certain sections. If you have a stay at the hotel you obviously don't have to down climb (2h) in case you miss the last lift which closes quite early 4-5pm. This by no means can be compared to the Muren or Almenalp feratta, this Feratta is the real deal. Bring 4-5kcals in snacks minimum and 3L of water to summit before sunset. Enjoy the spa in Leukerbad the next day ;)

Very well filmed! This is known as the hardest via ferrata in switzerland. As Bernardo mentioned: it's definitively not for beginners. Although it normally doesn't take 12 hours to make it. I did it in 5 hours and I was not fast at all compared to other climbers. There is an exit after the first third of the route (where Bernardo paused in the gras). So if one is not sure to be ready, he can start and decide at this exit to proceed or not. If you don't feel well alone: the via ferrata is crowded during summer season.

Another tip: Don't position your two clippers in the same direction. One is facing to the wall, the other one in the oposite direction. That prevents that the both clippers are opening when putting on pressure and you're not secured anymore. Also never put your hand on the clips when climbing up/down, just lead the clipper/ carabiner hook on the rope that is connected with your harness.

My son who was 14 at the time and my husband did it together 4 years ago. I spent the whole day sat on our balcony with binoculars absolutely terrified all day. They missed the last cable car down and had to walk down for the extra hour or so. Watching this video makes me realize how crazy this hike was. 😮

I was sweating all film long! That was insane! Bernardo, I cannot imagine to do the same. The only question I have - who was the first on this trail? Somebody somehow implemented all these metal ropes, installed hooks into rock, made ladders and "sky bridges" made from two metal lines, etc.

I've done some hiking before, and gotten into the situation where, down isn't really an option, and you have to keep going up. And right before you paused with the "I don't know if you can tell but I'm really scared" I could feel that exact feeling of just. This really sucks but theres no option but up but oh this sucks.

This reminds me of a saying. Something like “ there comes a point in every boys life when we realizes nobody is going to come and save him, and that’s when he becomes a man”. great job dude
