First time I saw this film was -94 or -95 on vhs. Even tough I have never experienced Chicano life or the streets, this film made a huge impact on me, I can realte to the brootherhood in the movie, this burning feeling of belonging to somthing, to be apart of something bigger. I have watch this movie over 200 times, its my favorite movie of all time. Every time I hear/see the ending of paco and cruz I always have the same emotional outcome as the first time I watched it. I feel like the only reason why a lot of people love this movie till this day (mainly California residents) was because we were raised just like those characters. Grew up in a gang infested area & as we got older we all choose our paths. Some stayed in the gangs, some choose the right direction but at the end of the day, we’ll never forget where we came from. The bond & the love the hood will always be in us & make us who we are. Loyalty above all odds

Blood In, Blood Out was released when I was still gang banging and caught up in the life. Seeing Paco become a Marine is what inspired me to say "yes" when a judge gave me the join or go to jail option. This movie spoke to so many homeboys in the barrio and it still does to this day. It was great hearing all the behind the scenes stories, especially about the resourcefulness of the inmates at Q. It sucks to hear this movies was "sanitized" for FX when Mayans MC (ALSO on FX) was allowed to drop F-bombs like crazy!

He saw it before years ago but didn't remember it. His memory was getting shaky while he was battling cancer. He loved it. He cried a few times because some of that was his story. I didn't know til a few years ago it was called Bound by honor first then renamed Blood in Blood out. Its still one of my favorite movies and I've probably watched it at least 500 times. I’ll just say that the reason that this movie always struck a nerve with me and felt so personal is because that’s literally where my family comes from. My family comes from the Loma Bakers neighborhood in Bakersfield, a city that feels more like Texas than it does California. My mother and Tia were smart enough to leave the neighborhood when I was 6 years old, but I still remember a lot. Visiting my Tio Danny (RIP) in prisons and hearing all of the crazy stories they would tell that were literally portrayed in this movie. Watching my other Tio Vincente (RIP) kill himself through heroin addiction. Watching gang rumbles, stabbing and shootings happen in Jefferson Park and having to hold my older sisters hand tightly as we both put our heads down and ran home as fast as we could. Like I said, I was lucky enough to have a smart mother and Tia who raised me and escaped that hellhole. I eventually found solace in the character of Paco Aguilar. I myself ended up running the streets from 11 to 17 until I was forced to join the military and make something of myself. I’m glad I did, because I could have been less fortunate like some of the other examples in my life and those outlined in the movie. This movie is an important milestone for Latinos, and specifically Chicanos in California. God bless us all.

@WretchedDrummer that's what's up pretty sure I had a New Mexico hat on. That was my first trip to Cali wifey took me on. We went to Disneyland and Hollywood, but all I wanted to see was cookies on Melrose and El Pino. Like everybody else I grew up watching that movie a million times over, and never thought I would be standing at the foot of El Pino I was amazed it's still up. It's on Google maps for anybody curious . It's an amazing place.

Love this and it sucks how much was cut out and left untold , fuck to see it remastered and done in 2 or 3 parts would be awesome . I owned one of the 1st 5,000 DVD'S & 1 OF THE First 2,500 VHS copies . This is 1 of my all time best movies of my 50 and its in my top 12 for sure . I've seen it at least 20x's in the last 25 yrs with my kids and they loved it .

That was absolutely epic. I love Blood In, Blood Out with a passion. Thank you for doing this. I'll be praying you are able release an extended version of the original or create a worthy follow up. Just leave the tik tok videos and NFTs to children and suckers please! Vatos Locos Forever

Berner named all the movies i gravitated to as a kid. Also, American Me, Colors, South Central, Donny Brasco, Menace 2 Society and so forth.

Hi there. White , middle aged man from small town in the middle of Wisconsin here. The summer BIBO came to cable (HBO or Cinimax I’m not sure), my friends and I would sit at another friends house and watch this every freaking weekend!! Like anytime is was on we would grab pizza, get high and watch it. I like to tell people that this movie, Sesame Street and Cypress Hill taught me Spanish. And that true!! Over the years I’ve made friends through just knowing the movie lines. My friend Miguel at work, we tell the lines to each other across the building!! He calls me Chewy and I call him Chewy. I know we aren’t using it correctly but we do it anyway. Man oh man!! I gotta get that book!

Why is this classic film not on Blu Ray? Id happily pay big bucks for a director's cut re-scanned version
