What a delightfully dramatic concerto, every bit as good as the Mozart ones, in my humble opinion. I'd love to hear it live!

I had a horrific experience attempting a piano reduction of this piece for a flute student when I was a teen. I had accompanied multiple students of this particular teacher without incident, but I simply couldn't make musical sense of the second movement. I recall the teacher literally screaming at me because I hadn't put in the effort to learn the piece properly. I should have walked out of there right then and there, but I didn't, and I think I ended up accompanying one more of her students afterwards. The nonsense you put up with when you're a kid. Either way, thanks for the bad memory Jean.

the movement looks awful to try and count and play for the flute at the same time

@@Dylan_1344 Yes, the struggle was real! Re-reading it I can remember what parts were throwing me off and I can understand why. It doesn't have a natural musical flow in these sections, and I think part of the problem is the 3/8 notation (vs 3/4 which I think would have made it much more easy to read.)
