Except it is. Bernie the most popular candidate. The current electoral system (the electoral college) is just not democratic and allows the republican and democrats to keep all none republicans/democrats out of the presidency. And Bernie is an independent, so he is kept out of the presidency. Bernie was in the lead during the democrat run offs but then everyone quit and endorsed Biden, which put him in the lead and eventually made him the democratic nominee. The democrat party is why Bernie isn't the president right now. It's not the people who don't want him.

I actually know a Republican voter that doesn't seem to care about the party and only votes Republican so that his conservative mom can get off his back. The Democrats also screwed over Bernie in the Democrat run offs by all dropping out and endorsing Biden. Bernie was actually winning in the run offs before this happened. The 2020 election was also pretty much a referendum on Trump instead of an actual election. Now I know many Republicans would pick Biden when Trump and Bernie where the only other option; but Democrat voters outnumber Republican voters so yea I do think Bernie would've won the election. Shortly after typing that last sentence, I remembered that because of the electoral college, Bernie being less popular with Republicans than Biden could've swinged many of the swing states over to Biden. So yea, you're right. You guys really should get around to abolishing the electoral college by the way.
