I agree to a degree but I don't really think simply educating people is enough to solve the financial issues in the country. One reason is people always bring up education but ignore how many kids slack off in school, we simultaneously want "kids to be kids" but also to be aware of their projectory in life which I think is an oxymoron. To expect a child, even a teenager which all they've known is their parents, time with their friends and time at school to have any idea what their life is realistically going to be like after school outside of doomer posts on the internet I think is unrealistic. The other issue I have with this is it doesn't actually resolve the issue that lower income jobs simply don't offer enough money if you wanted to actually raise a family and spend time with your kids as well. Some states still have minimum wage at $7.25/hr and im not saying raising min wage is the answer, but there is clearly an issue with funds. On a personal level I can agree that getting a better job and being more understanding of your funds and budgeting is important, but on a wide spread like a country population I don't think that's enough to solve the issue. The reason why is that there aren't enough "good jobs" we don't need millions of engineers and programmers. We also don't need millions of plumbers and trades people either, we need a lot of them but we also need people doing the other jobs which are soon going to be pushed out for AI leaving out the option for those people to keep working. This is excluding the fact not everyone is smart enough to be an engineer, and if you start stuffing all the mcdonalds employees into the trades for example you'll find the same situation we have with college now that the supply outweighs the demand and those people are underpaid. I think in a lot of ways some aspects of capitalism are outdated and it needs to be addressed

Financial education won't do didly squat if you don't have much income. I grew up poor (I'm wealthy now), my mom worked since she was age 16, taking care of two grandparents, an uncle, and 4 kids. She worked two jobs, one in retail, the other cleaning houses, my dad worked full time to. We lived pay check to paycheck. We wore clothes from the Good Will/Salvation army. All our furniture was used/donated. We had two beat up used cars. My mom spent hours clipping coupons and shopping multiple stores to maximize money. Despite all that, we lived pay check to paycheck and if my parents had a $200 unexpected bill, they'd be screwed. It's simply not true that she could have invested/saved her way to a much better life. We owned a house, it never appreciated, because the city we lived in (Baltimore) was a mess. I made it out because I taught myself software/hardware engineering in the 80s, then went to college, and ended up making lots of money in the dot-com boom. The bottom 40% aren't perpetually poor because they're spending like crazy, that's a bad stereotype. This just gives the excuse to institute any reforms that might help, let fixing healthcare or education costs, or massive infrastructure/housing projects to reduce the cost of housing.

And also your other co-workers! Woooo! Multiple examples of this happening in cities where they tried this idiotic idea. Bottom line was that while I saw Harris improving throughout the campaign, I don’t think she had nearly enough time, and she didn’t have the balls (literally or figuratively). It was all about promoting herself rather than doing a deep dive into the issues. I still think Mark Kelly would have been the better choice. He’s not afraid to stand up to the right or call out the left.

let me say: I am german. We not only had the nazis. We also had a socialist regime in eastern germany. The GDR. I would like to tell all the socialists how this went. They had the Stasi (which is the Staatssicherheit which would be translated to "State Security"). This departement of the regime put in listening devices in private homes unknown to the inhabitants, when they had the feeling that the inhabitants were against the socialism, against the state and against the regime. The Stasi even used normal people to spy on neighbours etc. So maybe the socialists in America and Europe, even in Germany, need education on how socialism is. Every socialist regime turned out to be a dictatorship.
@SammaclauseGamgee15 күн бұрын
Yeah. They've somehow convinced people that "fascist" and "socialist" are exclusive. Most often, any socialist regime becomes fascist by necessity because it doesn't account for how people actually behave.

I canvassed for Bernie in 2016 and 2020 cuz he's a real one (unlike the others, he outlined actual plans and provided for how they would get funded with the numbers). He was gaining real momentum during the primaries but each time the establishment Dems put their thumb on the scale to give the nomination to an establishment Dem. This time, with Kamala having 84 billionaires backing her, even *more* than Trump, I got sick of it (and sick of the identity politics) and voted Trump. Btw, did you know that Joe Rogan endorsed Bernie in 2020? Bernie's conversation w/ him was great cuz he's real and not a robot like Kamala.

Should be taught in school. Not everyone has a good example at home.
@eavye9515 күн бұрын
Absolutely. I can't believe they focus so much on math, history, science. Will it be useful? Yes, to a point. I'd say at the minimum by high school they should be teaching taxes and everything. I learned how to write a check... which majority of people in my generation don't even use regularly. I learned about glass ceiling and bs like that, but nothing about how to personally do taxes, how to save money on taxes, how to save money in general, I learned NOTHING about credit, which is obviously a big deal if you ever want to rent or own anything. It's like they taught us about bigger things, like the government, U.S debt, etc. Which is necessary, but nothing about the personal finances that we would need in life.
@havingfun-u4g15 күн бұрын
@@eavye95 Almost like a school system can't teach you everything you will need to know about life. Schools should be teaching people how to learn and think so when they have a problem they can teach themselves. Especially in the current era of the internet teaching people specific things is way less important.

If everyone were millionaires, prices would rise to meet the inflated dollar. Eg, what millionaires are going to flip burgers or wipe arses. This is financial IQ. It's not as simple as it sounds. That said, we need a system that rewards productive work instead of making billionaires of people who bankrupt others while providing low value, eg. medical,insurance industry and investment bankers.
