Even Potter has said a lot of it is natural talent. He just has it and then put in the work to master it.

I suppose. But some skills require less time than others I believe. Various is the answer but the 10k is a ball park most probably

Chris knows the history of the sax within this noble music so deeply yet makes it fresh and engaging, which is the way it's meant to be. I've had the good fortune to see Chris with 3 other masters, trumpeter and composer Dave Douglas, bassist, composer Dave Holland and guitarist, composer and wizard of invention, Pat Metheny. Thanks for posting!

A difficult thing doing this is that phrasing from A to B section is kind of the same than to start over one half step over. Hard to not loose yourself through the changes then !

That would be "Bird", "Trane, "Hank", Wayne, Sonny, "Cannonball", the list goes on and on with sax players who were his equal or better. I first heard Chris with Red Rodney on a album called "Then and Now". I knew then that he was really good. I do believe he was a kid when he made that recording and every solo he did smoked...!!

@@brandonvu5429"innovative" ? ... They both are excellent players, none of them is more or less "innovative" than the other: they both made a path for all of us i guess. Choose to embrace one or both. Why always comparing, make a ladderboard ? ...
