Thank you for this well presented introduction to the 475 QE! I've had my machine for a few months and am still in the learning stages. I want to get the most out of it so your tutorial are ace!!

GREAT video! EXCELLENT. I wish I had seen it before I bought... but luckily I bought the Bernina 475 even without knowing everything you presented. I own the 9mm st width 560. When I bought the 560, I did not understand 9mm vs 5.5mm, and I ended up with 9mm for clothing! I decided to add a 5.5mm machine, but one light enough to take to classes, yet do a good job at home. THANK YOU!

Hi Cody - Team Bernina here. Upgrading to this machine and this video is really helpful. I’m going from B350. The thread cutter is the bomb and while the machine is not small it’s perfect for me. I’m not a fan of the giant machines. Thanks again! 🌵🎄❤️

So happy to hear from another BERNINA fan. Yes the 475 is such a wonderful machine it has the features of the big machines but in a smaller useful package. :) Thank you for the positive comment and so happy you enjoyed the video.

Dear Cody, I have purchased the Bernia 475 sewning machine and I am delighted with it. Thank you for reviewing this machine . I have found the information of very great use. Much better than the instruction book or C.D. disc. And also how to use the needle threader Plus bottom holes on another Bernia machine . I find all the videos very helpful. I do hope you will do another review on the Beria 435. Thank you.

Does this b 475 have the setting where you can choose if want the stitching to end with the needle up, or end with the needle down?

Thank you for this video and all of your videos! They are the most informative ones I have come across. Ive been using a 1008 and 240 for a long time but looking into getting a new machine. I love the new bobbins, the thread cutter, the display screen. Also going to start dipping my toes into quilting. Ive been stuck between the 475 and the 570. I like that the 570 is a bit bigger, has the new bobbin sensors, dual feed and comes with the BSR. I just dont know which between the two to choose. The 475 definitely has the price going for it lol

Those are both WONDERFUL machines. The 475 is my personal favorite little machine but the 570 has so much more. 570 features that the 475 doesn't have that I love "Larger workspace, comes with BSR, dual feed, hover feature, bobbin sensor, option for embroidery which you can always add later if you wanted) The beauty of the 570 is it gives you room to grow. :) Also the 4 and 5 series are on sale until August 4th.

475QE or 535? Looking for a 5mm machine. This would be my first Bernina machine - I have been using Janome but, would like to experience a Bernina. I do general sewing and quilting. Fairly new to sewing - advanced beginner./intermediate level. I have a relatively new 9mm machine so looking for 5mm to 7mm machine. Thoughts?
@sewingwithcodyandpete86512 жыл бұрын
Good question! I am a big supporter of the 475 just a wonderful machine. So comparing it to the 535 they are very similar except the 535 is a little longer, can do embroidery if you are ever interested in adding the module. But the 475 comes with the #37 1/4" foot (which you can add to the 535) since it is a quilting edition machine. Other than that 535 just has a few more stitches than the 475 but both machines are great. The 535 is obviously a little bit more but you are getting a machine that is a little more capable since it does has the embroidery as an option which the 475 will never be embroidery capable. :) Hope this helps
@pattihensley11592 жыл бұрын
Cody this is probably a stupid question but I don’t know what the two connections at the end of the machine are for. The usb and the computer connection? If it is not embroidery capable what are they for?
@sewingwithcodyandpete86512 жыл бұрын
Good question. So you are correct the 475 can never do embroidery but since it is a computerized machine and has some great features periodically they have an update. Both of those ports are for that "updates" one is so the tech or customer can plug in a usb "flash drive" with the updated files on it to update the machine but the tech also has the ability to send updates directly from a computer using the other port "the one with the little computer text to it". Hope this helps. fyi it is rare that a 4 series receives an update so don't stress. :)

Hi Cody, Thank you for all yr great and well explained videos you prepare for us . Cody I am 60 yrs and I would like to buy a 5.5 SW Machine . I do not quilt at all, just want to get back to some garment sewing and curtains . Someone recommended the B380 (Hard to find I believe), saying the B435 and B720 are great SW 5.5 machines but are complicated to use and fix. My one and only nearby dealer is absolutely useless and of no help at all and I really do not want to keep going to him with my machine on a frequent basis, if you know what I mean. DO you think I would be better off with a 380 or any 3 series although I would like to have some of the " bells and whistles "(Quote from Cody!) since I would like to buy my first Bernina !! Love yr voice dear !!
@sewingwithcodyandpete86514 жыл бұрын
I am very happy to know you enjoy my videos and I would love to help you figure out what machine will work for you. The reason you can't find the 380 because it has been "retired" but has been replaced with the B335 it is essentially the same machine just renamed. Now as for any of the 4 series machine it depends on what kinds of "bells and whistles" you may like to have will depend if you may want the 475 or 435. I personally adore the 475 it just has a few extra little things that I truly enjoy, one being the auto thread cutter. So the 4 series are a little bigger than the 3 series, naturally. However they aren't excessively large like the 7 series. They have better lighting and a wonderful touchscreen that make seeing what you are doing super easy. Again it depends on what you would like to have in the "bells and whistles" department :)

I cannot get the self-threading function on this machine to work with a Microtek needle. Any suggestions?
@sewingwithcodyandpete86513 жыл бұрын
Depending on how small your microtex needle is it might not be capable. I use 80/12 microtex all the time with no problem but a 60 or a 70 aren't going to work that well. Also depending on the size of your thread you might not be able to get it to work because the size of the eyelet is too small. Hopefully this helps.

Hi, could you tell me how 475 work with small piece of construction? I have 2 9mm machine 765 and 580, they both 9mm, I really having trouble on doing smaller piecing. Looking on buying a 5 mm machine, 🙏🏻
@sewingwithcodyandpete86514 жыл бұрын
I hope I am not too late, but this is one of the reason why I love the 475 so much is because it is excellent with small piecing construction. I LOVE my 9mm machines but I enjoy doing some detailed piecing and even with he 0mm stitch plate the feed dogs are still wide and spread out, I can get the job done BUT the 5.5 mm feed dogs the to job BETTER. So the 5.5mm feed dogs are closer together and smaller so in turn you can use smaller feet, this is why so many of my quilters just "love" piecing on the old Singer Feather Weight machines because the feed dogs and feet are so small. Back to the 475, this machine is the best of both worlds you have all of the tech and awesomeness of say a 770QE /765 but in a more compact packages and capable to smaller piecing. I hope this helps. :)

Just purchased b475 quilters edition. Can someone please tell me how to get the bobbin thread back up after reloading the bobbin. I am baffled! Thank u.
@doriskeil-shamieh88525 жыл бұрын
You don't need to bring the thread up. Put the bobbin in and just start sewing.
@sewingwithcodyandpete86515 жыл бұрын
Doris is correct you don't have to pull the bobbin thread up when you start sewing, I get this question a lot. However if you are say Quilting and you want to bring your bobbin thread up to the top of your quilt so you can tie the threads off and burry them between your quilt... Then I recommend 1 not using your cutter down by your bobbin area and 2 don't use your automatic thread cutter when you are done. So by not using your cutter down in the bobbin area you are left with a longer than recommended bobbin thread. When you are ready to bring up the bobbin thread you can use the needle up command "button" and click it twice so the machine will take one complete stitch and when the bobbin thread being extra long it will then pull to the top where you can grab it. :) I hope this makes sense haha
