Hi great video, just a quick question, can we use the walking foot instead of the blindstitch foot #5? the walking foot has 3 type of attachements. I have a bernina 1008. Is it worth me investing in the blind stitch foot or will the walking foot suffice? Thanks so much.
@BERNINAofNaperville Жыл бұрын
A #5 blind stitch foot is used for blind hemming and has an obstruction at the center needle to give lift to the blind stitching. This task is not recommended for a walking foot with the central guide sole. The central guide sole on a walking foot is not meant for voice hemming, it is for topstitching (bindings, waistbands, etc). The 1008 comes with a bound hem snap on foot. The number is stamped on the actual metal foot.

@BERNINAofNaperville2 жыл бұрын
I would advise against the magnetic hoops which are not made by bernina. They do not hold well and I’ve had them disengage while embroidering. The bernina hoops are the best on the market and work well.

Can you explain how the movement of the needle is related to the movement of the fabric? Because the stitch length and direction of the feed has nothing to do with the movement of the needle. So if this device would feed the upper layer of the fabric it would be a mess. It's just a gimmick and can't be compared to real upper feed.
@BERNINAofNaperville Жыл бұрын
This walking foot has been tried and true for years. If you want basic engineering instruction and physics advice on this product, our recommendation would be to reach out to BERNINA international as we sell the product, we are not the designers.

@@ToddGreenwich Disengage your bottom feed and see how well it works. It doesn't.
@ToddGreenwich28 күн бұрын
@@twisterking1963 😂 because the fabric is gripped between the two feeds duhh
@twisterking196328 күн бұрын
@@ToddGreenwich That's why I said to disengage the bottom feed. Then the walking foot transports the fabric on its own. It doesn't, believe me. It;s just a gimmick. Needle movement has nothing to do with transport. So a device driven by the needle movement shouldn't be called walking foot because it implies transportation of the fabric. And it doesn't. I'm a sewing machine technician btw.
