After seeing the ARC, my head was swirling. Then stumbled across the Cedars channel which accelerated everything. However, going to the other extreme and becoming an atheist was going way overboard IMO. I was so thankful when I found Eric's channel along with all the like-minded peeps.

I’ve recently been told the Australian Royal Commission is Satanic. This evening I tried to explain to my kids that since ARC is Satanic I am most likely Satanic also by definition of the fact I mentioned it. Thank you very much indeed for introducing "cognitive dissonance" in this latest talk. It couldn't have come at a better time. A while back during a Bible Study, I asked an innocent question about the GB being the only true present channel of God's communication. My mind found it very hard to accept that God could contradict himself, but because I could not fit into any church that worships Jesus as God, I simply moved along. I started doing a lot of research on my own, my focus being on the GB's insistence on the significance of 1918, anointed ones, the other sheep, and many many other issues that my brain simply found extremely difficult to accept. To date, I still marvel at how millions of people refuse to question things and just move along. Granted, my encounter with the JW preachers has been a great blessing in disguise because for the first time, I am deeply interested in understanding the Bible on my own. The GB brothers must humbly accept that they have gone astray. I wish they did this before it is too late.

Many, like Eric and myself, were either "born in" or were engulfed at a very early age. Just as we don't question the gramatical structure and how to pronounce our native tongue, we readily accepted that we, as the people "for Jehovah's name", were just especially blessed to have never belonged to a false religion. I suffered terrible, long'-term, mistreatment within Watchtower before begining to avoid the elders... which, hum, ... wasn't really possible. They get more aggresive when one tries to avoid them. I didn't see the doctrinal problems until reading Crisis of Concience.

Their reasoning and talk are so so narrowed to the "discrete slave's" instructions to an extent that it is even difficult to point to them the inconsistencies without them thinking of you as an apostate. Sometimes it breaks my heart but what to do.

Excellent and sensible discussion of Daniel's prophesy about the Kings of the North and South. 'Types' and 'Anti-types' are minefields blowing up so many an interpretation of scripture when actual facts of history are consulted. Brilliant talk. I think the reason that JWs have discontinued publishing the Insight book, and the Daniel study book are because of the inconsistencies in them than what they are saying now. You are right that his body language does give him away when he is telling a lie, but like you say the best way to find out the truth is to read Gods word The Bible and then the real truth will set them free of all false teachings.

Some excellent points made here Eric, especially in connection with interpreting Bible prophecy and not going beyond what is written. For me, the most significant and far reaching interpretation of the Watchtower society is the claim that's made about their appointment as God's only channel in 1919, based on Malachi 3:1-3. Whatever else they may teach, IF this interpretation is accurate and the claim about 1919 is true (which is what I just accepted for many years), then there would be a basis for sticking with the WT organization. HOWEVER, there is no Scriptural reference to prove that Malachi 3:1-3 had any other fulfilment than in the first century. Jesus himself said that this prophecy was fulfilled in John the Baptist (Matthew 11:10-11). Are the governing body going beyond what is written here? Further to this, the WT has changed it's teachings about what happened in 1919 (See WT July 15 2013) 1. They changed the 'inspection' period of Mal 3:1-3 from 1918-1919 to 1914-1919 2. They originally claimed that they were 'appointed over ALL of Jesus' belongings', but now say that won't happen until they go to heaven. 3. They once believed that ALL of the 'anointed' were part of the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' - they now teach that only the governing body make up that 'slave'. My sincere question is : How do they KNOW what happened in heaven in 1919? And if they were wrong about the 3 points above, could they not also be wrong about the entire claim that they were appointed as God's only channel in 1919?

Another thing to consider that worries me is that the bible students back then 1914 era, were claiming Christ was already invisibly present as far back as 1874. If you are wrong about something as significant as that where you claim Christ is here and He’s not then you change it say nah but he is here now 1914. That is so messed up and so FALSE!! How can you believe anything they claim unless it can scripturally be proven. Its their foundation that is the rotten food.

They don't acknowledge or admit that there could be a Scriptural reason why people leave - such as Deuteronomy 18:20-22 as brought out in Eric's presentation. This is very serious as they put themselves above God's Word, as can be seen in this comment regarding 1975 - "THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO BE TOYING WITH THE WORDS OF JESUS THAT 'CONCERNING THAT DAY AND HOUR NOBODY KNOWS... (Matt 24:36)" (WT Aug 15 1968 pg 500/1 par 35) and this audacious claim regarding 1925 - "1925 IS DEFINITELY SETTLED BY SCRIPTURES, ....THE CHRISTIAN NOW HAS MUCH MORE UPON WHICH TO BUILD HIS FAITH THAN NOAH HAD...UPON WHICH TO BUILD HIS FAITH IN A COMING DELUGE" (WT Apr 1 1923 pg106).

God's TRUE Organization is the 'CHURCH OF CHRIST'. We are ALL supposed to be a part of the BODY OF CHRIST if we are followers of Jesus Christ teachings. What denomination you choose should be based on who SHOWS the MOST GENUINE LOVE. Jesus made it very clear that "you will know his TRUE DISCIPLES by the LOVE they have among each other". He is talking about all CHRISTIANS. How do JW’s treat other CHRISTIANS? They do not treat them LOVINGLY. I remember when I really started getting turned off by the organization. When I was in the special meeting and they were premiering the grey translation. I absolutely hated it because it felt so watered down and simplified. I felt they were really making fun of us, of our level of intellect...and the fact it is a terrible translation. The previous was beautifully written because it was closer to Jahs word. I felt the holy spirit leave that grey travesty. I went to the hall with my black Bible long after that and everyone always gave me crap. God's word doesn't change. If it's the same book, why all the pressure to confirm based on the colour of the front of the same book??? Now I understand why because they completely changed and deleted some verses. I loved my Gold and Black Bible.

Good callout on the detail of Lett shaking his head in the side-to-side movement which we associate with "No" or a negative expression when in fact he's trying to state something positive/affirmative. I saw an episode of Dr. Phil a few years back where he was evaluating a criminal's video message to his family (I think he was accused of being a sexual predator or murderer) and he was assuring his girlfriend and family that these were false allegations, that he could not possibly have done these things, that he was sincere before God that he was innocent and this would all be proven, etc. Dr. Phil picked up on this immediately and told this guy's family that the way he keeps shaking his head "No" when he's saying something positive is a HUGE red flag that what he's saying is not true. I wish I could remember that episode; it was on KZbin and when I saw it I thought right away of Lett. Concerning Daniel's prophecies, my only worry is that Daniel was told to seal the book until the time of the end, which seems to mean it would have meaning for our day. I'm still considering the prophecy and wondering if the odd number of days mentioned in Dan 12:11-13 had anything to do with the second world war. Hitler persecuted all religions and killed a large number of Catholic clergy, effectively stopping religious services. I am by no means dogmatic on this and welcome any other views.

A thought to ponder is : what is the time of the end and who get to determine its boundary. Two thousand years from today, there may still be ideas of some time frame representing the probably benign reference to such a period. Do folks merely derive satisfaction from reading more into the account than is actually there?

@@ruthmoram3861 Daniel and ezekiel refer to restoration of true worship in the last / final part of the days . Revelation 11 describes the temple arrangement too. Joel prophesied about dreams and visions jah would transmit to the lowly prophesying by the unlikely.. He has his own ways of getting things done. The trickling waters from the ezek temple vision gets deeper and stronger the further away from the temple it flowed.. I find that interesting.. Iron Rod Not a wooden staff is what Christ holds.. There's no hook crafted on the end of the iron rod.. What use is it to the sheep in a ditch that is stranded ? Or when the sheperd wields it..what effect does it have on the sheep that are wounded ? Shunning has played a part in Russia taking action to defend the unprotected victims which suffered disfellowshipping and families ripped apart with shunning..kicking out even their own children who got baptised and erred.. If we detach emotion we can see theres a strategy.Divine Victory will mean the rescue of all the planet and all on it. Won't it be worth it ?! Think of what the kingdom under Christ and his tested co rulers will bring !

the only problem for Jehovah's Witnesses is not to take as an example what Jesus instituted in their memory, which was to eat and drink the emblems in the Lord's Supper! for it is one baptism and one hope of eternal life. Ephesians 4: 4-6 note 4- There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called in a hope to which you were called; 5- one Lord, one faith and one baptism; 6- God, unique and Father of all, who is above all, and through all and in all.

While the Watchtower application of Daniel's prophecies for our day are indeed wrong, I would think that there is still good reason to look also for a future fulfillment of much of what Daniel said. One reason for this is that the Revelation written some years after the destruction of Jerusalem also has prophetic periods of 1260 days that involve a trampling of the "holy city" by the nations. (See Revelation 11 for example.) Daniel Chapter 2 about rulership goes all the way into the future where the Kingdom eliminates all human rulership. As Jesus said, pray: "Let our kingdom come."

I think it is incorrect, or at least counter-effective, to use the word "lying" in this context. They may be deceived, but then you may be too. I know when I was a JW, I sincerely believed whatever I said, and tended to minimize or skip things that I was uncomfortable with, such that as the number of these problems increased my faith decreased, until of course the inevitable breaking point was reached. A word about "faith." I now see this as nothing more than a cheap excuse for believing what we want to believe, as an excuse for discounting or ignoring contrary evidence. I think this so much, that whenever I hear the expression I tend to turn off. Evidence is of course never proof, but as it accumulates it tends to increase confidence. Professions of faith, on the other hand, only say, with those with ears to hear, that the speaker wants us to take what they say without evidence.

I have thought long and hard about using the word and for years refrained from doing so. However, so much evidence has accumulated that they know the truth and yet continue to dispense falsehoods. Often a liar will start to believe his own lies, will create a false reality and attack anyone who pokes holes in his perception of truth. That doesn't free him from the sin of lying, however.

Did a lot of research I felt so deceived hurt from all the lies they have told. They contradict and cherry pick from Bible scripture to fit their own beliefs. I feel sorry for them... mind control

Beautiful, I had the same experience 6 years ago prior to waking up. I read the Bible once cover to cover. But the second time I read it cover to cover i realized that the first time I was reading it I was making the Bible fit what the watchtower was saying(Matt 15:1,2 )but when I re read it strictly no chaser and realized the organization were teaching lies I started fading away from the organization and following the Bible with like minded people like Eric. I feel closer to the father and son. Yah is God, and Jesus is God.(psalms 82:1-7, John 20:28, John 14:8-11) They’re equal in divinity but yah exercise the authority. (John 5:30) Jesus is Elohim but no Elohim is Yahweh/Jehovah.

Psalm 119 *Your Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against You."* These post soooo encourage me to dig into the Word so, when I speak to JW's again I'll be able to share with them. You're gonna think I'm nuts (I'm beginning to wonder!) but I do hope that happens next Spring. Heaven willing, things will be closer to NORMAL, which around my neck of the woods, means JW's in the park on Saturday afternoons. That hasn't been the case for the last two years, and this last summer, I actually missed the interaction, casual conversation and seed-planting. On the other hand, though, the inability to do that 'cart/ field ministry' may have afforded some JW's the opportunity to re-evaluate what they're doing, and for whom.
