Hearing somebody say "I hate guitar" while producing the world's greatest guitar tone gives me chills to my core. This song has such great meaning and leaves me thinking about the band in a different light.

Oh my god. Every time I hear a new track from the album I think “now that’s the best Berried Alive song I’ve ever heard.” Then you CONSISTENTLY prove me wrong with each new track. You have found a way to make a better song on every single drop and I don’t understand how
@DCBMusic2 жыл бұрын
That's how it should be though! The new wave approach I've noticed with Berried Alive, and artists like Oliver Francis are going to be the desired model for an artist to come up. I personally think it's the best way for musicians to be true artists and be able to dabble into multiple genres and different angles of expression while still keeping personalities, which I think the greater Rock and Metal genres have been lacking in for a long time.

Totally relate to a lot of the sentiments expressed here. When your relationship with your instrument becomes the defining facet of your personality it can be such a struggle to separate your artistic expression from your instrument and other peoples expectations surrounding it.
@kloroformd2 жыл бұрын
I don't have an instrument, but I spent a good half a decade in a terrible rut where I became known on a long defunct social media platform for basically bending the whole website's structure to my will. Between pissing off the site mods and the owner himself, and people asking for help with sprucing up their little quiet corner of the internet, it kinda became my whole life. I hated it. Best part was becoming a webmaster for a short-lived awesome band a few friends made, not getting paid for my work and forwarding the URL to... "beeftwirl" (trying to not get my post blocked). Stepped away for years. Long enough to meet an amazing woman and adopt a child. Now looking back I should have kept grinding and learning that stuff. I'd rather be typing HTML5/CSS3 than be in a hot factory watching vinyl get shit out of a machine. Man you just can't win whether your job is something you became passionate about through necessity or just interest. A job is a job is a job.

Your music has helped me in these past 3 weeks. The hardest part of my life so far. I'm thankful for all the support from you all, it has helped me keep my head up. This song resonates with me, as I begin to learn to play guitar as a coping mechanism. I miss my wife so terribly much, but maybe making the music I've written the past 16 years will help. Your lyrics are beautiful as they speak from a struggling soul. As you all have told me, you're not alone. Never stop being you, with or without music. Much love to you both.

I think people really only find hate in themselves when what they view/perceive is not agreed upon with other people's view and perception of you.. Hate will always be perceived as anti-love to me, and when you hate yourself is usually based on an aspect that you yourself love yet was turned to hate, therefore anti-love. People also hate something because they love to hate whatever it is as well, as they love it enough to not ignore it. Even hateful thoughts might be latched on due to the fact that it is anti to something you love.. Being depressed or experiencing hate is normal, and only should be experienced in moments you need to elevate from. Ngl, I waited on listening to this song due to the title, but I understand the msg... From personal experience, I appreciate playing guitar Sooooooooo much more after almost not being able to really play for a whole year due to ulnar nerve damage, then almost lost my middle finger couple years after that and then had a hairline fracture (all left arm) a few months after that and couldn't play for a couple months again last year... and thankfully I started working with hip hop artists at that time and invested in a Eurorack system in 2020 so I could still make music and work with people regardless if I could play guitar or not... People truly choose which corners they back into, just know there's people that can relate one way or another :) Keep being you!
