You clued immediately into one of the great twists, the fusing of Griffith and the child. That will be confirmed shortly, but the implications are immense. So glad you enjoyed Conviction. It is spectacular.

I've seen a few people appreciate what Miura did with Nina's character. But you're def the first I've seen for her to be a personal favorite. Honestly it's refreshing and offers a great perspective once again of just how real she is. Which honestly is why I think so many people don't like her.
@LordZeebeeАй бұрын
Yeah she's a reflection of how the vast majorty of people would act and react to what's going on, myself included tbf. And i don't think a lot of people like seeing that mirror lol

honestly, I think besides guts (because obviously he's got a lot more time and character work devoted to him) Nina is my favorite in berserk so far :)
@muciosbjunior5383Ай бұрын
22:17 Guts was going to attack Griffith, but remembered that he chose to protect Casca instead of taking revenge. ok, you said the same thing here 25:17 haha

I wouldn't say it was anti-religion per se. It was more anti-corruption in religion and the overreliance on faith that causes inaction when it comes to helping yourself almost like an over reliant child. It's like it's saying God won't protect those who are unwilling to protect themselves, you have to have the will to fight for survival to get through the hard/dark days.

Really glad you enjoyed this arc. Also super excited to see your reaction to the next volume. Literally the next 3 or so chapters right after this volume are probably my favorite in the manga.

I absolutely loved Nina on my first readthrough. She was so deeply flawed and it made her feel so incredibly human to me. Its always nice to hear someone give her some positive attention instead of solely focusing on the faults that make her so real. Conviction is absolutely one of my favorite arcs. I just know you're gonna love what comes next too.

I'm dumb so it took multiple reads for me to understand that between all the disease and famine ridden refugee camps, the inquisition for witches and their torture, the gathering of evil spirits due to the presence of the branded, that the tower of conviction is supposed to be a culmination of people's misery and that their unconscious desire for salvation (God) through disaster is collectively made conscious and gives way for Griffith's resurrection. It's so fascinating and paves the way for how the common folk see him afterwards. He appears the savior because its exactly what they all wished for.

to clear off confusion. The Demon Child was swallowed by the Egg and merge with Griffith because the Egg is the new body for Griffith but he didn't know about it.

Oh wow, the double spread at 21:50 is impressive. You don't notice that when you read it online. 😅 Tbh I find Isidro pretty annoying on his own or when he's trying to prove himself as a warrior, but the comedy with Puck together is fantastic. So many great reaction faces :D The next arc is my favourite and introduces one of my favourite characters in manga. I'm really looking forward to your opinion :D

00:46 "It's so different" Then I wonder what's your opinion about the next 2 big arcs Because there are a lot people quit or dislike berserk because each arcs are "so different" That reason turn off a lot of people Maybe you will be feel all the same too

It’s interesting that I’ve learned how people don’t like the next big arc. Falcon of the Millennium is arguably my favorite arc in Berserk

I think you may be the first person to say they wanted Nina back lol, I think her boyfriends name was Joachim? Glad you are enjoying the series, I really liked conviction arc a lot too.
@johnsmoke1785Ай бұрын
This arc has borrowed many religious ideas from real life imho. Like that the universe has hatched from an cosmic egg (e.g. Hindu mythology). I also get the slightly reminded of the 3 kings visiting new born Jesus. The 3 kings being, the egg, Skull Knight & Luca.

Literally just a massive, explicit spoiler, please for the love of anything holy do not read: .... ... Oh god she mentioned Griffith being Casca's "trigger" to return to her old self... I cannot wait for the heartbreak when she learns Guts triggers her PTSD 😭

Most Berserk readers that i see online love both Golden Age Arc and Conviction Arc The first, fourth and fifth Arc? Not so much

I love all arcs. For me Golden age/ Conviction/ next arc are all 10+ out of 10. I would give first and last arcs a 8+.

I can't bring myself to like Nina. I don't only like characters that are brave, "do good", or are always competent. Nina's self-serving nature is fine to me, its just that I hate how she also drags people into her shit or does anything to never be alone while being so self-centered (I somehow take personal offence to her wanting the company of people she'll actively throw under the bus at the drop of a dime). Nina will look up to and align themselves with someone then turn around and resent them for doing what actively helps them every time. I could be talking out of my arse here because I haven't read this arc in 2 years. She's not a poorly handled character, I am just innately irked by her. I understand how her immaturity and cowardice are flaws of her character to be explored, but I can't stand her. My apologies to Nina enjoyers out there. You guys have broader narrative perspective than I do when it comes to this. Edit: Grammar touch ups
@polarissolaris-q3xАй бұрын
And, the nail in the coffin for me is her involvement in the orgy cult stuff where she actively tried to get someone to partake in cannibalistic demonic coitus rituals. That was the dealbreaker for me. Self-preservation, sure, but the Slan activity and jeopardising other lives for it is where I truly draw the line.
@moussaadem7933Ай бұрын
It's a breath of fresh air to see realistic people in the story, nina is just that, I enjoyed reading her character
@polarissolaris-q3xАй бұрын
@@moussaadem7933 If realistic means recruiting people into Slan orgy rituals and eating human baby soup, then sure.

I really don't think there is anything redeeming about Nina. Like yeah, she's a tragic character in a bad situation in Berserk world, but I don't recall her making a single good choice or having a single redeeming quality.
@booksandtropesАй бұрын
I don’t really care about characters making good choices or even being a good person. I like the character work done to develop them and their personality. So many times she wanted to be brave/strong like Luca, but she couldn’t make a sacrifice that would hurt her for someone else. She always wanted to run, to save herself, but she hated that weakness in herself. She was also scared of being alone. She was envious of Luca’s character, that duality of resentment but admiration is what I liked Knowing she wanted to do the right thing but was to afraid is very human Right now she feels incomplete, and I’m not sure if we’re going to continue with her character to see what internal growth she has. But even if we never see her again I liked what we got :)
