To me it feels more plausible to say that Taurus demon is more inspired by the Minotaur in general. Which i wouldn't at all be surprised to find is the inspiration for Zodd anyway.

Zodd’s form is actually more inspired by the manticore iirc. Basically a giant mammal with leathery wings (and other details that vary based off of interpretation).

All artists are inspired by each other but it’s only seen as progression if the “borrowing” artist uses their inspiration to make something new - which Miyazaki has done. Just like Picasso said: “good artists copy; great artists steal”

Not just the manga, I have another evidence of Artorias is Guts reference : In the game Berserk Band of The Hawk when you reach the story where Guts active the berserk armor, his attack is EXACTLY Artorias's spin attack, and more aggressive

I'm starting to read Berserk now and there's loads of things that I keep getting reminded of. Visually the inside tower that Griffith was held in reminded me of the spiral steps down to the Abyss, albeit they go round the other way. Even comments about no one knowing how far down it goes seems to tie in.

The whole New Londo city is a reference to when Schierke invokes magic to flood a Town when atacked by trolls. She goes atop the church and invokes a god called "The Four Kings" to flood the town. Considering in darksouls you encounter a hooded npc atop the church in New Londo, and the whole city was flooded, and the boss under it is called the "The Four Kings", i see it as Miyazaki being very forward with another heavy reference.

I do wish the Taurus Demon reappeared in DS3. I’m surprised it didn’t become a regular enemy like the Capra Demon does. Maybe they thought it was too big to be a regular enemy? Idk. Ornstein and Smough being based on the Mantis and Beetle definitely seem likely. I’m just surprised 2 iconic characters are based on 2 characters that didn’t even get names.

i find it sad that the video of Asmogold can get 450k views by just existing, and saying yeah to every point, your video covers most of his screen, your music is there, you did everything, and he is going to argue that somehow this helps you and you shouldn't complain. at least he could give you a little bit of help and not watch 100% of the video.
@dondonrv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! It shows your concern for the channel. I'm grateful that Asmongold watched my video in public; that, for me, is the reward. In the same way, I have the mindset of being thankful that I can create these videos and share them with all of you. That, in itself, is already the reward. The increasing subscriber count and views are just bonuses and a way that the universe is manifesting that the channel is becoming more ready to be known by a larger audience.
@umar167 Жыл бұрын
I agree, especially when Asmongold's title is "I found everything Dark Souls took from Berserk". No he didn't, he WATCHED a video where SOMEONE ELSE (DonDonRV) actively found and compiled these references together into one video. It's extremely disingenuous.

It’s worth saying that the entire New Londo Arc of Dark Souls 1 is a massive Berserk reference. With Beatrice (Schirke) you fight the four kings, meant as a stand in for the Godhand. New Londo also resembles the ruins of Gaiseric’s Kingdom. Mirroring the discrepancy between it being destroyed by four or five angels, there is actually a fifth, secret king beneath the boss arena functioning as the boss’s health bar. New Londo is one of only two places you find red eye orbs (Behelits.) Rickert is in New Londo. You fight Sif on a battlefield reminiscent of the Hill of Swords. The Masses of Souls in New Londo evoke the blob monsters in Conviction Arc. Also, there are four direct references to Guts’ swords. 1. The Greatsword, which looks like his Golden Age sword. 2. The Cursed Greatsword of Artorias, a black and white greatsword used to fight spirits. 3. The Black Knight Greatsword, a massive black blade specifically used for hunting demons. 4. The Greataxe, described as a veritable mass of iron.

So, I'm thankful that he watched one of my videos, helping my channel in a way to be known by his fans, who might also be Berserk fans. My channel reached 1k subs the day he shared my video. Hey, Great Video. i knew Dark souls got a lot of inspiration form Berserk but i didnt how much before, but i have to say some of them are a bit of a stretch. TBF i havent read Berserk yet but The Great Feline is literaly just a big cat, just because there are a lot of references doesnt mean everything has to be from Berserk and dual Bosses like Ornstein & Smough ( one big slow Enemies and one fast) are not uncommen in Video games. I think if they wanted to make O&S a referance to mantis and bettle they would have made there armour more insekt like.

@omegashinra7672 Жыл бұрын
I disagree, just based on the fact that SO much is inspired by/taken from Berserk, it's kind of silly to assume that other bits aren't just because they're common elsewhere. It's pretty clear Miyazaki has a special place for Berserk and has HEAVILY taken from it to inspire his games.
