I love helis and was really curious about the new FBL controller from Radiomaster. Crazy that you got Bert on to review it. For those of us who've been around a while he's a legend! I have a 600 kit that's been waiting on electronics for years. This seems like a pretty good excuse!

Rotorflight is the OpenTX of FBLs, it's an open source FBL firmware. So there are several different Rotorflight FBLs on the market now of which the Nexus is one. There is also the Flydragon V2 from STEAM which has a built in Express LRS receiver.

New-ish to Helicopter stuff and came from Tiny Whoops (FPV world). Soo excited for Rotorflight due to the fact it is derived from BetaFlight. I could go on and on ...but when BK learns to tune these and create files for builds, it can only lead to advancement in the hobby. Thanks again for your time.

This is so timely and very cool to see- I just learned elrs nexus and rotorflight too and they worked great on an align 300. I have been racking my brains for a larger build and saw a tron dnamic combo for $1539 at BK Hobby. But next day I looked and it's back to $1710 wtf! oh well now align 550 is looking pretty cool too. And waiting for November price drops. I can build a heli kit and it will fly but the way Bert flies is completely unconscious and amazing.

When setting up the rC helicopter in Edge TX, be sure to turn on the servo monitor screen on the main screen. You need to check if the keys move properly. (idel 1, 2, normal throttle % )

Hell yeah!! I originally told myself I'd try rotorflight in 1 heli just to play around with it. A month later all of my helis are flying on Rotorflight with the Flydragon and Nexus. This system flies amazing and I think will help bridge a gap between thr drone and heli world.

I've converted my S1 and S2 to ELRS after I got an ELRS/Nexus based RS4 Venom. Now I'm swapping out the FC of my S2 so I can convert that to Rotor Flight2. I just picked up a Gemini and Nimbus to build over the winter break, those are going to be ELRS/Nexus. Its an awesome system, dont let the price fool you people it's not a gimmick or trap, its 100% awesome....if you get over the hump of learning it. Thats the Achilles heel....you dont get a paint by numbers setup or a copy/paste profile to download offline like you do with the other's, you really have to learn about what your doing and why. But for sure you can really get deep into it by going the path of pain; you discover so much more out of yourself and your craft.

Looking good and costing much less for the tx/rx electronics is really a no brainer...I noticed his radio giving percentage callouts, I have mine set to voltage remaining, I'll have to look into it...

Dont forget to tune the filters before finetuning the PIDs, the increase in performance with less filtering is gigantic. And with RF2.1 you can increase the Q-value of the RPM filter notches to 10 instead of 5, which is more narrow. With my specter NME I can easily deactivate the lowpass filter and run Q=10 for fundamental, 3rd harmonic mainrotor and fundamental, 2nd harmonic tailrotor. For autorotations I let 2 dynamic notches active which start filtering above the fundamental frequency.
@RCVideoReviewsАй бұрын
Filters are a big topic right now in RF. My filters are set and Bert has my filter settings.
@HeliXtremeFloАй бұрын
@@RCVideoReviews Nice, thanks for the info. Filters are the one thing we could not mess with until now, which makes it very exciting to play with. Bert will have a lot of fun with this combo. Maybe he will share his diff when he is happy with the way its flying, would be awsome.

@@elitecol69 Dropouts on some old tech Futaba or Spektrum protocols maybe. I haven't heard him ever complain about it. But ELRS as shown in this video? No, he hasn't done that yet; nor has he done a RF2 based one yet. I know he's planning to eventually try it; but it's a steep amount of time to invest when you already have paint by numbers level with Ikon and VBar getting you airborn and reliable.

I gave up on Rotorflight after trying to setup a nitro, I spend many hours and late nights scrolling YT and the RF discord and I didn’t have John’s phone number unfortunately 🤣 nor do I have Bert’s 25 years experience and I couldn’t work it out, I’d already setup an electric heli on RF and was in the process of starting to learning how to tune, I’m also very familiar with EdgeTx which helps but I just wanted to get out and fly my nitro, I was over spending hours and hours on the computer instead of the sticks, finally caved and went vbar, first time I touched the V touch control Tx i had both nitro and electric 700’s ready to maiden in under 3 hours, and all I’ve been doing since then is flying, if time is money rotorflight is the most expensive system out there for the average not so techy guys like myself, that said RF is only going to get better and easier, lots of folks are loving it which is great 👍🏻
