Wow, the story of playing football with the ladies in pads and the guys without triggered a memory for me that I'd completely forgotten. I played football for a single season my first year of Junior High and came in with basically zero knowledge of football before. There was a practice where our coach was, apparently, just trying to make fun of our defense, I guess? He was saying a 15 year old girl could get by us, so he had his daughter come in regular clothes and just run by repeatedly and then yell at us, for like, a long time. I was so confused after a point. The point was made. I didn't understand how to pass this weird test, so one of the times she ran the ball and nobody was touching her, because everyone understands the situation here, I just fully laid her out. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have hit her in a way that would have hurt her on purpose, and I was one of the smallest people on the team already, but I was in pads and she was definitely just doing a favor for her dad, lol. Then he yelled in a different way... I had to apologize and, I think, run for the rest of practice? I just didn't know what to do and not get yelled at, lol. Hurt this girl in overalls and Chuck's? Not stop her? Both were getting us yelled at, but we'd only tried one so far.
