Thank you guys for hosting me and indulging in my stories and journey with skateboarding. Really helped me to appreciate even more by sharing so much in a single sitting. The honesty and emotion is essential to who I am and how I have learned to navigate life. I will bring hella footage for a stop and chat down the road.

This was a fantastic episode. I’m honored to have Jacob as a friend for more than 30 years and to be front seat many times to his dedication to skateboarding and the people in it. The stories and feats live on because of the amazing internal media that skateboarding relies on… never looking to outsource the story telling. If you know you know. Jacob and The 9Club and it’s listeners know!

This was EASILY one of my favorite episodes. This spoke to me. I never knew the full importance or impact that Jake had on my teenage years. The videos he helped create left a life long impact. It’s why I do video and photo to this day. I still follow the skate industry daily even though I have nothing to do with it at all. I’ll be rewatching this one I’m sure. Thank you for your contributions, Jake the Janitor. 🤜🤛

Great interview! He’s right about the importance of Animal Chin, Public Domain, Shackle Me Not, Ban This, Hocus Pocus, Now an’ Later, Soldier’s Story, Not the New.., Rubish Heap, Video Days, Useless Wooden Toys, and Questionable. These videos made such an impact in skateboarding in a span of 3 years-serious progression. I’ve actually told Mike Carroll that Greg had a older brother vibe towards me. Greg also put me on Venture flow and offered Think flow too. Such a cool dude. Thank you Jacob for your contributions!

Jacob has such good memories of Skate Camp...I also was at Skate Camp 1986-88 and they were absolutely great times!!! Mike T was an Awesome Camp Director and got to Skate with Legends like Natas, Ray Barbee, Ron Allen, and Matt Hensley, just to name a few. I still remember watching Natas ollie over 7 boards during a demo at the 1987 skate camp 🤯.... So Sick!!! I just wish my memories were as vivid as his were.. LOL!!!! Second Hand Smoke was one of the first vids my older brother introduced me too. All the songs- Ramones, Stevie Wonder, Metallica, Aerosmith, Cream, wrapping tape on my fingers ( Watch Rodney Mullens part). I met Rodney a few years ago and he said the name Second Hand Smoke came about from Mike T’s contagious energy/ personality. The minute you were around him, he’ll leave an everlasting impression on you forever. Mullen was so stoked that I brought up that vid to him too.

First board 83, but really got hooked in 88 on dogtown dressen. so rubbish heap, life, now n later etc were important for this kid in Liverpool England. particularly as it was 91 that 6 of my close crew gave up pretty much. it would have been easy to join them, but vids like now n later kept me inspired and motivated. got me out there further afield to find new skaters to skate with. the 90s were great, and not much actually got filmed. thanks again

It would be incredible to have a stop and chat with a few of these guys together talking about shared experiences and perspectives from the plan b/girl era. It's cool to hear everyone's remembrances from that time but it would be very interesting if Mike Carrol, Danny Way, Jeremy Wray, Jacob Rosenberg or any of the people involved would be willing to sit together and go through it together and kind of put the pieces together more collaboratively. It would obviously be a huge departure from the regular format but that time period seems to be the most controversial and pivotal point in skateboarding history and is definitely worth even more discussion.
