Besiege | Surface Spring Gun Prototype

This video demonstrates a proof of concept of utilizing a surface spring to act as a recoil spring for a cannon mechanism.
A surface spring is a method to create a spring like mechanism that is significantly stronger than suspension or pistons.
Principles:
1. Low mass objects have increased flexibility, in this example, a low mass surface is placed between the cannon and the mount, thus creating a connection with high flexibility like a spring.
2. Surfaces that do not connect with its triggers have infinite break-force, since low mass surfaces have less health points, it is important for them o does not connect using their own triggers. In this example, they are connected using heavier surfaces that can withstand the forces the cannon exerts onto it. (Note that it probably is possible to use any other low mass object (i.e ballast) instead of a low mass surface)
Applications:
I believe it is possible to apply this to any gun setup where a degree of movement is required to reduce the shock the system experiences but still needs constraining of the recoiling cannon mechanism. Since this is much stronger than pistons or suspension, it could be used in applications which pistons and suspensions are not suitable for.

"Piston/Suspension" Guns
Proportional Response Guns
FNS-assisted "piston" Guns.
Possible applications
- FNS guns (to serve as a constraining force that assists the overflow and other drag production mechanisms)
I don't think anyone has done something similar, so I'm unsure of the possibilities. But since the vehicle suspension built on the same concept was quite successful, I hypothesis this could have equal sucess.
