Ruthenium the GTR is my favourite car the rest are newer more modern filled with technology but the GTR is an old skool drift king and ring champion This reminds me of Gran turismo 4 from PlayStation

That M3 CSL sounds incredible! Definitely one of the best 6-cylinder engines ever made. In some ways it was a better engine than even the V10! They certainly don't make them like that anymore...and more is the pity! Those guys have some serious skills, that was a genuinely exiting race especially toward the end! :-D

soundseeker63 Yes but the only N/As available are from a 6.2L in that new C8 Corvette, and the Hemi V8s (5.7 and 6.4) and the V6 Pentastar from the Chryslers. And those are huge and lower revving, no longer the small high revving ones from 20 years ago.

It's ridiculous how the M5 was hanging with supercars and tuned sports cars. That car was designed for German executives to cruise on the autobahn. It's so damn good that it hauls it's ass around a circuit against cars 300kg lighter. If he hadn't gotten it out of shape on the final corner he almost certainly would have won. Nuts!

The driver of the 911 C2S has traction control turned on and isn’t even in Sport Mode. You can see this at 15:41. He’s essentially racing in comfort mode with the TC at its max setting. SMH. Great race and close finish.

Well with that logic considering the best time it set was a 1:37.554 and the Gallardo set a 1:37.537 it's easy to say the Lamborghini Gallardo "MuSt HaVe BeEn HoLdInG bAcK" 🤣 all of these cars specs are nearly the same on paper and even with the driver error eliminated it still finished behind the Gallardo. Nobody holds back in an event like this. The GT-R being force induction has more torque than the more than the Gallardo and CSL with them being N/A

Tokyo JZA80 that’s a final Z tune GTR, it has 500bhp. These are nowhere near the same specs, the Porsche is a non turbo Carrera with 355bhp and the m3 while being lighter than the standard spec is also only 355bhp.

I believe the Z-Tune was there to better put things into perspective for Japanese viewers. The "rigged" last lap aside, I find it interesting how people dismiss it for being "tuned" because that was the entire point of the Z-tune: to show what the R34 GT-R was truly capable of; if not for the pointless gentleman's agreement that also neutered the Honda NSX and Mazda RX-7. That's like dogging on the 911 GT3 for being a "tuned Carrera". We all know it as the ultimate 911 trim, to show what RR cars are truly capable of. Obviously, a stock R34 GT-R won't keep up with an E46 CSL or E60 M5, ...though maybe (or not) with a 996/997 Carrera. Continuing with that logic, then, how come people here are praising the M5 for keeping up with purpose-built sports cars like the 997 Carrera and Gallardo, while dismissing the R34 simply because it's upgraded from OEM? Like, yeah, of course the M5 kept up. It's an M car! It has the best bits from BMW's parts bin stuffed into a 5 series. It has the 5-liter V10 derived from their Formula One exploits at the time. BMW had the means and know-how to make the concept work. To show what the 5 series was truly capable of. The only difference between it and the Z-tune was Nissan didn't have the means to make the R34 GT-R competitive with non-Japanese sports cars from the get-go. A lot of factors prevented that from happening: the stupid 276hp limit agreement, Nissan being on dire straits after the bubble era, and the R34 being four years out of production by 2006. So, Nismo took on the mantle and did the job themselves. So, what is this essay about? People not giving the R34 GT-R due respect. And I don't mean blindly fanboying over it. It's a brilliant car for what it's worth and what it can do. It could have been so much more, yes, but at the end of the day we ended up with something far more palatable. What does it have to do with the video? Not much, I suppose, other than to let people put things into perspective. I'm just sick of seeing the online car community be so polarized about these cars. It's either put up on a pedestal or knocked down a peg to simply prove a moot point.
