Yes!! He's back! Also, perfect timing. Was looking for the button up shirt tutorial last night and couldn't figure out what happened to it.

Thank you for giving an in depth explanation of the front as opposed to the back of the sleeve and sleeve placket.

So this means that for using this method to sew in the sleeves, the sleeve caps and sleeve holes need to be already patterned with a different seam allowance - the sleeve cap having 3 times larger seam allowance than the sleeve hole. correct? same with the side seams - front seam allowance is twice as wide as back.
@caffeinatedtailor2 сағат бұрын
@@zetinjatresor2100 in a nutshell, yes. That's an excellent summary. I feel I should've included that more explicitly now that you mention it. Potentially I'll include that if I make a new shirt pattern drafting video. I didn't make this pattern, so I had to use as close as possible to the seam allowances I knew were included.

@@caffeinatedtailor It also means the body and sleeve cap need to be trued *before* adding seam allowance, or otherwise trued at an offset, where the seam line would be.

@@sedrickhamani7843 you'll have to go somewhere else for a pattern. I don't think the shirt system I have is that good.

Thanks for the upload. Do you have plans for making a buttoned fly video?
@caffeinatedtailor2 күн бұрын
@@Solidfluids there are plans, but don't wait up for it. I need to make a new trouser guide first to make it as easy as possible to fully follow
@Solidfluids2 күн бұрын
@@caffeinatedtailor That's understandable and looking forward to it nevertheless. Another question, any tips on shaping and shrinking the trousers? I'm trying to get rid of horseshoe folds but with the cut alone they won't fully go and shrinking seems to be the way to go.

@Solidfluids I've had the same problem recently. I'm not sure if this is exactly what I did, but it seems to know what it's doing. movsd.com/BespokeCutter/index.php?topic=694.0

@@caffeinatedtailorThanks for the suggestion. I came across that one too and was gonna use it on my next attempt so this gives me some confidence it might work. In my last attempt I took out a triangle from the bottom and shortened the CB and added what I took out to the front, as explained in the book. But all it did was push the inside seam to the back, creating new fitting issues… How much did you end up shifting the cb line to the left?

hello.

Glad to see another video from you. I am a bit confused about your methods in this one, however. In particular, why you left the interlining exposed rather than adding a third piece of garment fabric underneath the collar stay section...seems like an odd choice. I'm also confused about your method of attaching the collar. Specifically, you top stitch from the inside rather than the outside, which means the top stitching will be irregular on the outside. Why this method rather than glue or thread basting before top stitching from the outside? This is what you did in your previous video iirc... On that note, it looks like you deleted the old shirt making video. Why? It was imo a better instructional video, even if it involved lots of hand stitching and finishing. And **even if** it was worse, it provided lots of instruction and enough technical variations from what else is available on youtube to be valuable. Reinstate it please!
