This girl is now 18 and just graduated high school. I want to encourage everyone who watches this girl's rodeo videos to also watch her valedictorian speech on this channel. It has touched a lot of rodeo kids. I'm sure you can all relate to what she says.

Everyone saying 'oh it's the horse' and 'she's doing nothing' is ridiculous. Every horse, no matter how well trained, how fast, responds differently to every rider. It takes skill for any rider to get control of any horse; that's why it's a sport. If the horse did all the work then it would be called sitting on an animal and doing nothing. As equestrians I thought we'd all realise by now that everybody progresses at different rates and that every horse is different. Regardless of whether a horse knows the pattern or not it's still being directed by the rider.

Yes! I know lots when it comes to horses. I don't know when, because I am SO busy, also it rains a lot here, so maybe by the time school is out we could tape it. I don't know who to edit videos so it will sort of a "all in one whack" kinda thing.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Actually all horses shown in this video were either trained by me (pole horse and goat pony) or my mom (big sorrow barrel horse). I put in many hours a week to get with them and make sure they are in fine fiddle. Stay Fast, Haydn

Cowgirl Infinity I'm 11 and on my first barrel race i ran 25 and that was my first and she is running in the last 20s and its not her first barrel race. And I didn't even run in my first race. Her horse is doing most of the work. But but she has some skills. She just needs to work harder

Laura Kay just because she's getting in the 20's doesn't mean it was a slow run. That pattern was a big patterns and arenas are different sizes so you can't go off of times

Barrel racing can be easy you just need to be patient with your horse. Don't expect results right away it will take awhile you will have good days but sometimes you will have some bad days. Just keep trying and don't over work the pattern. Pick 5 days out of the week to work the pattern and 2 days to do conditioning or ground work keep it interesting for you and your horse. Also I recommend checking out Fallon Taylor she can help you with the details. Just remember its not a barrel race unless your having FUN! Hope this helped!! :)

I'm a Western rider, however I'm converting to English riding. When barrel racing, the best thing to do is keep tight pockets (space between your horse and the barrel) but not tight enough to knock over the barrel. Remember to "bring the horse home" (going back to the start) fast. This will knock off a lot of time. I do "long trots". Long trotting is basically where you trot (while posting) for 15 minutes straight. This will build up muscle in both you and your horse. Lastly, don't forget to interact with your horse and other barrel racers. In doing this, you might learn a couple tricks. If you don't happen to know or have barrel racing friends, your best bet is right here on KZbin. I agree with the other people who have replied-Fallon Taylor knows her stuff. Check out her KZbin channel. She has a ton of barrel racing techniques and her story is truly inspiring. Thanks for letting me take up a good chunck of your time!

Not trying to brag but I have done better than that my fastest pole run time is a 19.9 and my fastest barrel time on that size of pattern is a 17.4 in the mud and my fastest goat time is a 7.96 I also breakaway and my fast time in that is a 1.7

Horse girl 1115 first of some tools like tie downs whips and spurs can be very use ful training tools I’m only using spurs if I’m practicing or running and sometimes I use a whip if I need to motivate the horse to go which I only use it about 3 times a run no more
