Why? Double the price
@potatopotato91317 жыл бұрын
1) it assembles much quicker 2) the quality of the print is substantial and the mods needed are much less significant compared to the ones this one needed and 3) it can work w/ ABS. Really if the person is willing to spend the extra money this would probably b a better choice, especially if you're not too good at assembly stuff.

Potato Potato The tarantula works better with abs. You don't need to close the printer with blankets and such, and the heated bed reaches way higher temperatures

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing great! If you consider buying this printer there's numerous different versions you can choose from. In the review I use the "Standard Printer" for 198$. Find it here: bit.ly/2mSmAv5
@s3sebastian7 жыл бұрын
Now the price is at $239, so $40 more than when you recorded the video. Also the option for the shipping from the German warehouse is gone (other sellers on Ali still have it but I can't select any variant of the printer then). Does someone know a reliable source in the EU for the Tarantula? As much as I like buying cheap electronics parts at Ali, I don't want to pay an additional import sales tax at the customs office or argue about CE conformity. Regarding your comparison of the printing results of the A8 with the Tarantula: Do I see it correctly, that the A8, while having some other modifications, does not have any reinforcements for the frame like you showed it for the Tarantula in this video? If so: Wouldn't this also help the A8 to increase its printing quality? I could get a A8 (or a Tronxy clone of it) from a local seller easily.

Very good review! I bough my Tarantula 2 weeks ago (for $193 on aliexpress) after watching it. Finished assembling it yesterday evening, it was great experience. Not a single part or nut was missing. I was able to make a few prints, including a perfectly sized 20mm cube without any calibration besides the bed leveling. Thanks! BTW: it came with Marlin firmware, not Repetier like most other reviewers say.

Wow this is a flash from the past. I remember this printer and how amazing I thought it was when I had first gotten it. What a nightmare lol, any printer made from acrylic is just bound to fail. I had to replace everything on the printer until I stopped using it, now that I am running on an upgraded ender 3 pro it's hard to believe I got any decent prints off of it. Amazing how fast printers dropped down in price and how quickly aluminum took over.

Man, now I don't know which to get. I was planning to buy the anet a8 today till I saw this video. Which printer would you recommend for me? (I'm only gonna print PLA)
@daneh62407 жыл бұрын
Tim Montanus I was too, I went with the A8; if you look up printers from this company on KZbin there are videos out showing them as fire hazards! They might have fixed it, no way to tell, so I went with the a8. It has A LOT of cool mods and videos for it. I got it from gearbest b.c eBay sends you offbrand printers, bought it Friday and I'm waiting for it to ship but I think there are some companies that keep a8s other than them. Good luck!
@timmontanus43117 жыл бұрын

I have the Anet A8, and you can print ABS but you need some kind of printplate (buildtak, Zebra plate). The original tape you get with the Anet is simple painters tape and will not stick to your buildplate if you print with ABS. So thats the only thing you should consider buying. The bed temperature reaches 100 c so what he says is not true. the Anet looks much stronger and stiffer than this printer. And everything is better put together. You don't have to buy anything extra for the Anet if you only want to use PLA, but use the correct settings. If you want mine just ask or watch Nexi on KZbin he has great tips which helped me allot. So I guess u know what printer I recommend buying :p
@vizionthing7 жыл бұрын
I have an Anet A8 from gearbest running for around six weeks, I have had no problems, theres room for improvement on both printers which in my opinion is a good thing, upgrading a base printer is a good way to start printing! the bowden on the Tevo is a big plus, I will be converting mine over within the next couple of weeks, The Tevo also looks to have a much better Z axis limit switch position - the on one the A8 really should be replaced very early in the upgrade path, The frame and bearings look fine for the Z Axis but that y Axis set up centered on an acrylic H frame looks somewhat suspect, the A8 now comes with an aluminum H frame and is supported on both sides not in the center, so I expect it is more stable and less prone to wobble, have a look at the upgrades for the Tivo both on you tube and thingyverse I suspect there will be many for frame bracing as there are for the A8 - after watching this I would still go with the A8, having to source and fit cooling fans could be a major pain if the mainboard is not going to allow controlling them during the print - you need to check with Tivo owners if that is the case - it wasn't covered by this review, whatever you choose will be a good start and will give you a printer able to print the parts for your next printer :) welcome to the club - have fun!

Hello, I just purchased this Tevo Tarantula after watching your video! But I am uncertain of how you installed the additional cooling fans the fit in the custom bracket. I bought the two turbo fans that you linked in the description. The Power supply is a 12v but the fans are 24v. How did you wire the additional fans and do I need to purchase any additional stuff for the fans to work? Tried doing the research to figure this out but you are my last resort lol. Thanks!
@RcLifeOn7 жыл бұрын
I simply connected the 24V fans to the 12V power supply. They are too powerful anyways, so 12V works perfectly fine. You need nothing else. Good luck sir!

yea I saw it as well, I live in the netherlands so the taxation might be huge tho, considering getting it!
@TheDutyPaid7 жыл бұрын
Indeed, you have to factor in duty as well, I believe it is 17% for you, which is better then the UK's 20% They do say they will lower the price, but if customs is having a slow day, they will check the price and then you get a fine as well. Or you maybe lucky and not have to pay anything. Been looking for my first 3D printer for sometime I hope this will be good. I don't have a lot of money to spend on one and as you know the price you can pay goes from cheap to crazy.
@protectaa7 жыл бұрын
TheDutyPaid i found one of the sales there it links to German warehouse, which would prevent the tax, but when I go to that link it still says send from China not Germany. Very strange, I asked the seller to confirm if it would be send from Germany. Plus on that link the upcoming sale also showed (and it has reviews of people in my country receiving it in 3 days so). I think you guys are still under eu trade law so maybe that would work 2?

For the Anet A8 there is a thermostat problem with the heated bed. That's why they catch on fire often. The temperature will say 78 degrees, but it will be much hotter if you measure it using an infrared thermometer. This causes the firmware to keep dumping current into the bed, leading to melting of connectors, shorting of wires, and possibly fire.

Hi all, FYI the Anet A2 model is a copy of the Tarantula. I have the A2, its not packaged as well, and no printed instructions. But the design is the same except for tiny details like where the extruder is mounted and the joining hardware. The A2 will do ABS as well. Alot of the same tweaks are required. I also found using a newer Cura helped with corners and ringing, I think these systems have different responses to jerk and accel numbers since the heads are so light.

Great review of this printer, i will consider buying one of these. Do you plan to review the monoprice 3d mini printer ? its about the same price range and it is prebuilt. Nice channel Btw ;)

How did you do that "peeling off the paper" bit? You must have used magic to hold the perspex to the table!! Hehe, your video is one of many that I watched before buying one of these 4 years ago! Some things had to be fixed before it would work. Recently I gave it to someone who is just starting, and I now have an Ender5.

Nice review! But in my opinion you should have bought the Tronxy X3, it's like the A2 Anet or the Taranto Tevo, but it has 2 Z axis, a more stable structure and a case for power supply and LCD

so 2 z axis is better?... tell it to Ultimaker or Witbox for example... rofl..

I think your review has been viewed by many and has boosted their sales. Now they increased the price of the printer by 20% and lead time by 200% (10 days to get the printer shipped). Happy for them but if business is good they should keep the good prices and hire more hands.
