Nicely done video although I disagree with your choices. I was watching a live stream Q & A show featuring Tom Rosenbauer from Orvis. Someone asked him what was the best rod out there and he replied, "The one in your hand." Perfect answer.

My son loved this depth finder. He's used it for ice fishing and on his 14ft boat. Works well and is fairly easy to use. Saw fish on the depth finder, caught fish in that spot. Can't ask for more, except maybe an automatic fish cleaning option :)

"Brain-Bridge Island Facility" 🤣 Close lol, Bainbridge Island, WA is a cool little Island Community in Puget Sound. A short ferry ride from Downtown Seattle. I just ordered a Sage Foundation 9' 5w today and its already in seattle lol. The Foundation is my first upgrade from the bass pro shop combo i started with as a gift last year. For $350, and $100 for some rio.Gold (already casting wayyy better) this rod seemed the perfect price/quality/spec point

I have been using a 5wt high modulus graphite Matrix rod made by kilwell NZ. It's 35yrs old now, I would not change it till she's dead. It's seen out two reels and god knows how many fly lines. It's a soft action rod which I like, not to many of my casts go past 30 mtrs. Most of my fly fishing has high grassy areas and trees. I'm thankful of the soft action. This rod at the time was not super expensive, but was up there, maybe about two thirds the price of the most expensive sage. I think I paid something like 700 NZ dollar's for it, came with an alloy tube and sock. That rod is like my A1 Browning shotgun, just a great mate.

The big difference is not the cost of the “better quality” components used, it’s all in the exorbitantly marked up price tags and profits. Orvis stumps up Tom Rosenbauer’s brand ambassador paycheck out of these mark ups. There are too many brand sharks in the supply chain feeding off low cost inputs from S.Korea, Viet Nam, PRC and this just doesn’t translate into giving the angler more bang for his buck. It just perpetuates brand hype and the peer pressure that goes with it.

You know when every review on a pole is "Exceptional" "High Performance" "Value For Money" that they're just marketers and don't know what the hell they're talking about. The same can be said about cars, shoes, lipstick, etc. The only real information I walked away with was make/models and prices... Stinky.
@mightyredstallion3 жыл бұрын
I wish people would just make honest to God reviews about the rod they own and use most. Why they like it, why it's the best, etc. You know, like you learn how to do in grade school. There would be about a billion less pointless videos clogging up youtube and the service might actually become useful again.

We have full reviews for these on our blog and KZbin if you would like more info. These are short lists of 5-10 products and we try to keep them under 10-15 minutes as people loose interest on KZbin. 8 wt or 9 wt is the best you can buy 5 wt is too flimsy forget orvis it's always overpriced you can buy a 12IM carbon 8 wt for around 300 on amzon
@intoflyfishing Жыл бұрын
8 wt and 9wt would be overkill for small trout on backstreams in the US or Canada. The weight of the rod is dependent on the fishing scenario and target species, so saying one it too flimsy would only depend on what target is. Orvis make some great rods and the aftersales service keeps them near the top, something you don't always get with cheap rods on Amazon. TFO is a $300 range maker with great rods though.
@DavidStanleymusic Жыл бұрын
@@intoflyfishing in this part of Canada trout can be over 10 lbs and salmon can be over 50 lbs if you fish for 10 inch trout in a stream a 3 wt might be appropriate here where the big brutes swim its advisable to use an 8 or 9 wt rod . When you hook into a big trout a 5 wt rod will not be ideal. most people here us 8 or 9wt due those mitigating factors. as well it makes more sense to have an 8wt that can handle all scenarios than to show up under equipped.

If this is a list of the “best” fly rods on the market, why would you include value fly rods? While yes they are good for the value, they’re definitely not the best.
@intoflyfishing4 жыл бұрын
I'd beg to differ. I think that value definitely has to be a part of the equation. Some people can't afford a $1,400 Sage so they tend to appreciate great value and well priced rods on lists like these.
@zachpardue55124 жыл бұрын
There’s no such thing as a 1400 dollar Sage. Sage’s most expensive rod is 950. Also, the title is “Best 5 Weight Fly Rods” why wouldn’t you therefore include the best 5 weight fly rods in your video and include another video talking about the best value rods
@intoflyfishing4 жыл бұрын
Zach Pardue yes there are $1400 sage rods like the igniter Spey specialty rod and custom built options. Duly noted about the value vs best videos. We will take that into consideration for future lists on the KZbin channel. On the blog we have them separated that way but people tend to enjoy a more all-in-one approach when watching video content. Still, I’ll be talking to the team about a best value video.
