"XPS" aka "Seadoo Lube" is really good stuff. It's like Frank's Red Hot Sauce. I still have a can from 1993 when it was called "Seadoo Lube". It doesn't make a big mess. Good show. I like how you get into details about detailing. Love from Nova Scotia.

So an old friend of mine just gave me his old 1996 Sea-Doo GSX. The original owner was a mutual friend who has since passed. So this craft has sentimental value to me. I haven’t ridden it for several years and he stopped riding it 5 years ago. Is I’d like to baby this thing and get it going again in as correct a way as possible. It will play in Minnesota lakes. I know I need to get an AGM battery and replace the old gas but what all should I do to help ensure it’s fully operational? New gas or oil lines? New spark plugs? Should I check the compression? Evidently it was running when they last used it and I believe it was kept inside a garage. Thanks for the informative video!
@classicjetskis6 ай бұрын
Hi dude, thanks for the comment and sounds like a lovely 96 GSX machine you have. Sad story about the original owner passing but this is normally the case with how clean classics pass hands... The good news is clearly its gone to you who cares about its future life... Ok so as you have alluded to, you need to do a full recommission, this will include new battery (Gel cell) change all the old grey lines if they haven't already, replace the fuel (E5 only), check the condition of the oil. If it hasn't been converted to premix then check the oil pump as these can go bad. Yes check compression but would likely be ok if it was running ok last time... you want around 140-150psi. Check the crank seal, engine mounts are solid and the obvious one but the carb may need cleaning/rebuilding. The reality with these old machines is the best way to keep them going is to ride them regularly to keep things moving, when they sit, that's when you need to do all the checks. Hope this helps and hope you get out on it and enjoy it. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel. 🙏

Maaate the XP sounds nice and crisp when you fang the throttle 👌🏻👍 I bet you everyone on the beach had their eyes on your skis.

I know right, sadly alot of the new gen folk dont appreciate greatness... the world is a pretty woke/ environmental place now so when a 2 stroke starts up you get the, 'why is it smoky, whats that noise' bla bla bla... Most people at the ramp think 4 stroke and their superchargers are the best thing ever, and the 90s didn't happen!... You do get people that appreciate the old stuff but by and large I'm sadly in the minority. If I saw a 2 stroke and heard it I would run the length of the beach to see what it was. In the US people have more 2 strokes but here not so much... good job I'm Keeping The Classics Alive! 😎

@classicjetskis6 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words and watching the videos 👌 Love the 1994 green colourway, so retro! 1100 is a good price for a clean low hour, so congrats. So the cover I assume you're referring to is the green and purple one as featured in EP1 in this XP series, if so this was actually the incorrect year cover for this 1995 XP... that green and purple cover is for the gen 1 XP 1991/1992. I have since bought a brand new NOS OEM 1995 cover that correctly matches my 1995. It took ages to find, a guy in the USA helped find it for me, I did pay £500 for it and still haven't taken it out the box as so rare as its new. When its warm/dry I don't run a cover, for me the covers are more about the completion of the OEM look. Best place to look is on the FB X4 groups as from time to time people sell OEM covers. Aftermarket wise I think the covers are easier to find if you just google XP X4 gen 2 cover. Hope this helps dude 😊

I have this ski the hull is perfect…. I put a skat trak stainless steel low end tuned prop in it and it helped a lot…. I do wish it had just like 10 percent more torque without spending a ton of money…. Thinking a used factory pipe I’m not sure if that ends up giving other components issues…. It already has a mind of its own when it wants to work or not lol any 717 x4 mods someone can recommend ?
@classicjetskis4 ай бұрын
Hey man, the X4 hull is a total classic! You can't go wrong with that-it's known for being super agile and responsive. That skat trak prop sounds like a solid upgrade. As for a bit more torque, thats why the 787s came in... but the X4 717 is already such a fun ride. I'm personally an OEM guy so mods aren't my thing, I ride them stock and work out how to get the most out of them... but for sure there is alot more performance to be had if you start modding...Thanks for watching, mate! 👌

@@classicjetskis thx for the information…. When it runs wide open power band it’s been great…. Sadly it was bogging and I read in some forum it may be the rectifier unfortunately hasn’t worked since replacing that…. It was previously giving me sometimes 30 percent power then all the sudden 100 percent power…. Is there any mods you did to the oem engine outside of prop and intake…. Maybe jet ring ? That would increase it’s very low end pop on the 717 xp ?

I’m shocked you don’t have the the wireless led lights for the trailer board tbh. You should do a beginners guide to owning and maintaining a jetski😎 amazes me how many people don’t have a clue 😂
@classicjetskis6 ай бұрын
I have tried them but with the Range Rover electrical system it dosent link very well... The ones I have tried were wireless with magnets but couldn't get them to constantly connect, so was as much of a pain as doing the wire. I think the next thing will be a in built waterproof connection, so I can leave the wire inside the trailer box section and just leave a small length of wire on the end of the wired lightboard and just have to do the connect at the back each time. I will add the video idea to the list... Was unsure if people would just skip this first section and go straight to the ride... But you're right, most people get the simple things wrong... Thanks for watching ✌
