I don’t see what’s so hard here. I want the lightest, fastest, most nimble ski that can be made. And I think I speak for most people here when I say let’s take a supercharged or turbocharged engine that makes around 300hp, find out the smallest hull we can make that can support the engine and a rider, make it look like the meanest fastest thing ever made. And print money with it. I don’t care what it costs if you can get me up above 70mph without me having to ride a small boat to do it. I’m sold!

“Pro” is also a nod to their old nomenclature. In 93 before the big bad Raider, their fastest ski was the VXR Pro. We all called it the Pro VXR. There was even an article in PWI back in the day on that ski named, “How fast is too fast”. 😆 Funny by today’s standards. It had a top speed of 48mph. Fun little thing. Weird riding position too. PS.. love the side conversations. It reminds me of.. me! Ha

I’ve been riding those things since they came out. The 85 hp 717 does anywhere from 51 to 53 mph. And that’s in perfect conditions. I have never seen an 800×4 with 25 more horsepower get anywhere near 60 miles an hour. The closest was the rare gems found in 1995 with the XP800. Some of them brushed 59 miles an hour as most of them did 57-58. No 95 XP without a factory pipe and some serious work will get anywhere near 60 mph. If you’re going by a speedometer, there’s a reason we used to affectionately refer to them as dream-o-meters.

Hi, just discovered your page. I had a few questions if you don't mind. When I was a teen the 96 XP came out and I really wanted that cause of the huge horespower difference. But I believe the 96xp 951cc engine weighed a lot more than the 95. Is that why you have the 95 rather than the 96? Also, Do you know when and why PWCS got rid of the thumb accelerator pedal. I loved using those. Thanks.

Of all things, I think the biggest advantage of the Spark over this is the front storage. In my front compartment I can fit an a small anchor, 2 bungee lines, a tow rope, the Sea Doo fenders, a water bottle, and a pair of flip flops. The footage I saw of the Yamaha looked like it had barely any storage. I'm not saying storage space is the primary reason to choose between two jetskis, but it can come in handy and is the one area, however boring, where the Spark destroys the Jetblaster.
@simonwallace699
@simonwallace699 12 сағат бұрын
The Yamaha EX series destroys the Spark with storage options and the new series will come with a front storage option for those who need more storage. The Spark will not win on storage space. In Sea-Doo’s defence, I don’t think they give a rat’s ass and people aren’t buying it for storage, because they’d be buying the EX/Jetblaster if they cared about storage.

I hear you dude, I do get it they want their market share for this style of craft and to be fair, its a sexy looking machine. That said, Seadoo took all the risk 10 years ago with the Spark, so for me its nothing new. The Spark already nailed this formula. If the JetBlaster would have been a 60mph I think overnight a lot (myself included) would jump from a Spark to a JetBlaster, as the frustration with the Sparks top end is one thats been going on for ages. No body at the ramp wants to be riding the copy cat ski thats still 100 pounds heavier and for the pro still not affordable...IMO I would rather be on a Spark X or a JetBlaster 60mph ski as this feels truly new for the class... I will stick with my 951s for now for top end 😂 Thanks for watching dude ✌

@@TBird89 Man, I agree with you on most, but the RXP comment epitomizes the issue with the PWC market at the moment. People see RXPs/RXT 325, etc., as the only true performance skis, and then the Spark as an entry-level ski, but this isn’t true. True riding enthusiasts (not saying you're not) understand the Spark is the only true rider, non-compliant ski. Compliance is killing the industry, IMO. I guess that’s why we’re seeing Yamaha make a craft that, like Sea-Doo, is all about rider fun. A Sea-Doo Spark, when ridden correctly and if it did 60 mph, would be a true performance ski because it would be the most technical ski to ride fast. An RXP T3 hull (which I’ve ridden, along with the RXT) is so compliant to the point it just does everything without you really trying or thinking about it. The true test is when I say to riders at the lake that have an RXP, "Okay, now ride my X4/Spark fast around the lake," they usually scoff because they can’t master the X4. T3 hulls have made riders feel invincible, when the truth is, the new bigger skis have largely brought in an auto-pilot riding style that strips a lot of skill and fun away. For me, an RXP T3 is a race machine beast for sure, but for the average recreational rider, a Spark or JetBlaster that could do 60 mph at an affordable price is what we really need-not an 85 mph 325 that no one really gets near the envelope on. FYI, I would argue a new rider, not just a woman, if riding a ski for the first time, an RXP is a safer bet as it’s more stable and compliant. A Spark, when you start talking about spinning and wheelies, requires more skill. I’ve seen riders jump on the RXT and ride it fast instantly-the same can’t be said about riding a Spark fast. I love all skis, but Sea-Doo and the industry in general have been getting this so wrong. Nobody wants to pay 27k for a 325; hell, nobody wants to pay 11k for a Spark Trixx or JetBlaster. Appreciate you watching and love the back and forth! 👌👌 Thanks for watching! ✌✌

If you want an SPX, has to be the 1998 or 1999 787 once the X4 switched to the parabolic V 951 (the SPX then inherited the full fat 787 rav) Thanks for watching dude ✌

I don’t wish it was gel coated. Unless you form the gel coat in a female mould and then apply the Nanoxcel material to the uncured gel coat, you may as well not bother. Gel coat is polyester based and if it’s not wet with the hull material applied to it while it’s wet, it won’t get a proper bond to the material and won’t flex with the nano. If Yamaha could figure out a process to apply gel coat before the nano, it might work. But I think that hoping Yamaha will use gel coat is a lost cause because raw fibreglass is applied using a chopper gun into gel coat with boats. Even Greg Gaddis said he didn’t think gelcoat would work.

First, honestly, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the old vs. new Spark display. The old one is so limited in it's functionality and information output. There's a reason the 4.5 inch display is used in half of everything BRP produces, it's so much more comprehensive. I haven't watched the other video you referenced, and I know it's opinion rather than fact, but I'm pretty sure yours is the hot take 😆 That aside, you've broken the situation down very thoroughly, and I think you're right in both manufacturers dropping the ball in some way. Yamaha is so clearly playing follow-the-leader with Sea-Doo with this almost carbon-copy of the Spark, down to the center cutout, the removable speakers, the colorways, even a lot of it's body lines, and they're not doing much of anything to stand out. It's not even limited to this lineup, you'll find that the GP HO in particular has it's 2025 colors ripped from the '24 Sea-Doo 325's. Like you said, if they bumped performance enough to reach 60 and threw a classic WaveBlaster color at it, every unit would be off the lot the moment they're unpacked. At the same time, Sea-Doo would have slaughtered the industry if they dropped a Spark X of some kind last year. It's definitely intentional, what with the redesign, the 325's, and the Switch Limited all dropping last year. They're keeping it in reserve to bump the sales again once those wear off, but it would have hit particularly hard on the decade anniversary. I think the other issue they're having right now is figuring out how to make a high-performance Spark that won't outright kill people. Apparently test models with a 170-hp 1630 were reaching close to 140 km/h (about 85 mph), which is psychotic on any ski, let alone one that small. With Sea-Doo's launch this year focused on the fishing segment, I'm willing to bet we'll see a FishPro Sport and/or Trophy with a 230-hp option (it's already been confirmed it's in the works), and I'd put decent money down on both small updates to the FishPro models and a fishing spec of the Switch. I think they'll ride that wave for a bit, then drop the high-end Spark in another 2-3 years. All in all, it's nice to at least see Yamaha advancing, and I'd love to give the new design a test ride. I got the chance last year to test '23 versions of the JetBlaster and FX SVHO, and I had distinct dislikes with both of them, they just didn't sit right with me. Hopefully I'll get another chance so I can see if it's just a me problem. Cheers!

Hey man, I totally get where you're coming from about the old vs. new Spark display-no doubt the 4.5-inch is way more comprehensive, and there's a reason BRP keeps using it across their lineup. It’s definitely got the edge in functionality. But, dude, I gotta say, there's something about the simplicity of the old display that just clicks with me... Sometimes less is more, even if it means giving up a bit of that extra info 👌 That being said, I’m with you on pretty much everything else. Yamaha’s definitely following Sea-Doo’s lead, and it shows. They’re borrowing a lot from the Spark, and you’re spot on about the GP HO colours too-they’re taking notes, for sure. And yeah, Sea-Doo really missed a golden opportunity with that Spark X. A decade anniversary would’ve been the perfect time to drop something wild like that, but I get why they’re holding back 💪 As for the test rides, I feel you, man. Sometimes a ski just doesn’t vibe with you, even if it’s technically solid. Hopefully, the new designs change your mind! Cheers! Thanks for watching ✌

I don't dislike the hull being fiberglass, its more a case of weight and potential bond line issues thats widely reported as an issue. The new JetBlaster weighs over 500 pounds vs the spark that is just over 400, this will effect how playful it is. The other thing to keep in mind is, whilst I hear you on your concern of wave jumping the spark, Polytec has evolved massively over the years, the first 3 years of Polytec (2014-2017) was alot weaker, and was refined 2017 onwards. Of course you wont stop cracks if you're jumping big waves but equally we see fiberglass hulls crack also with this sort of abuse. I'm not a huge fan of the issues Yamaha had with automotive spraying their hulls... thats also widely reported over the recent years. I think either way you go, they will give you a similar experience, its alot about brand loyalty, but personally I think buying a product thats reactive to another, just means when Seadoo kick on again (which they will for sure) Yamaha will be left playing catch up again...Seadoo took all the risks back in 2014, Yamaha have watched and emulated it, which makes sense but its nothing new that we haven't seen before. I would have liked to see Yamaha lean into their wave blaster smaller hull heritage and set themselves apart more. I do love the look of the pro and will for sure jump on one to test... but either way both the spark and new blaster are too slow respectively. Thanks for watching dude ✌

Yam is still too heavy, its over 500 pounds, the spark is just over 400... trust me they will do full plastic in the coming years. I love the look of it but just cringey to see such a proud reputable brand play follow the leader so obviously...Thanks for watching dude ✌

Kudos to Yamaha for a whole re-desing in only 2 yrs. Rotax 900 ACE HO has plenty of meat for a remap to 120hp NA, the engine can reach 400hp with a close deck, head porting, JE pistons and Carrillo rods, search for street performance 900 ace engine 400hp video. They better bring the new spark soon, next year Kawi will release a new "spark" like design with their new 1000cc ridge sxs engine, 120hp NA. It's like the ultra LX 1500cc on a small package.

Good point dude, if you look at it from the perspective that they have reinvented the 2022 JetBlaster to the 2025 design, its impressive, but it would also be fair to say its a lot easier when you have a proven blueprint from your direct competitor and you're confident in its design philosophy, as its been around for 10 years. Seadoo took all the risks back in 2014. So its less impressive in that regard. It would have been nicer and more impressive for Yamaha to give us a reboot Wave Blaster that actually did something better than the spark. As for the mod suggestion on the spark, I hear you but as I said in my video, we really want a stock direct from manufacture model as messing with a spark to do what you have said, will massively reduce its life span and diminish its overall value. I agree they need to bring the faster spark ASAP as they are vulnerable as you say from Kaw and Yamaha moving ahead, due to stagnation and focus on other areas like Fishing and 325hp chasing. It still makes no sense to me to put so much energy into the reboot of the 325 when the 300 was already a weapon, it would have made more sense to make the spark more performance orientated. Thanks for watching ✌

Rotax engines can't keep themselves together in stock form let alone tuning them higher! You can tell how junk rotax engines are when you go to the used market and every single rotax powered ski has been rebuilt or needs rebuilt.

21:51, the engines are the issue, they are made by rotax, but everything around that motor is unreliable like when they had those mass driveshaft issues that were slipping splines and destroying engines Sound like your defending a brand here. We all know the far superior brand in reliability Not to mention the electronics on the seadoo that keep throwing you into limp mode!! Glad Yamaha is taking over this sector and giving new people to the sport a reliable machine and not leaving a bad taste in their mouths like the competition has Hate to say it but I’m a bit of a seadoo fan boy. But I currently own two Yamaha’s, go figure

I have 2 2000 seadoo GS, I love the machines, fairly light weight, top speed of 50mph, easy to whip around on the water! I've been looking into some new Seadoo sparks but this is one reason I haven't bought one yet, I would want a bit more speed if I decided to go that route, I know they have more bottom end then my seadoo GS but the same top end, which is just odd to me cause I'm running a 717cc two stroke compared to the sparks 900cc 4 stroke, I love the old seadoo's myself but I think if seadoo does make the spark a bit faster, I'll probably get one!!! Anyway love the videos!! Love the history of these machines!! Hopefully one day I can find the x4 hull xp, I'd love to restore it back to its prime!!!

Great video, Joe! It’s so funny hearing you talk about trying to make the spark handle more like an X4 in the sense that it slides more. Back in the day we were trying to make the X4 grip more! But you know all this. Funny how things change with time.

@@faisalvlogs9294 hi faisal,... Whatever you decide... Make sure you research extensively, so you know what you want and what to expect, so you know better if you really want what you think you do. Also buying new... You take a hit in the pocket when it comes to selling it again. Just make sure you research and are ready for some challenges before you move to buy. They are big money items and you want to limit the liability on your new asset. If you can maintain and repair by yourself, that helps massively lower liability against your ski/ investment. I hope this helps mate. Good luck with your purchase also. Ross.

I snagged a deal on a 99 GTX Limited 5-6 years ago for next to nothing. Owner didn't have the DESS Key and no idea how to replace it as Sea Doo dealerships only cared about 4-Strokes. I eventually found a guy who could program a DESS Key, which wasn't cheap. Other than draining 10 year-ild gas and replacing fuel and oil lines, only major issue it had was the 2-piece plastic oil tank separated at the seam and I wasn't able to completely fill it. You can't go premix on a Sea Doo either, because there is oil being circulated into a counter balancer. If you do buy an old Doo, make sure you have a DESS Key or can get one reasonably as every dealership I called had moved on from 2-Strokes and no longer would even work on them.

Man I was like you for a long time, I would deliberately avoid the Spark but I must admit I wish I jumped on one sooner. The Spark is the only thing remotely close to the older stuff (Seadoo wise, interesting to see what the new JetBlaster is like). The Spark 2UP is close to an XP. Its not a 2 stroke which sucks but its good for a 4 stroke. Thanks for watching 😎👍

@@classicjetskis you are welcome, I enjoy your content brother. I may trouble someone for a go on their spark now. I'll trade them a go for a go😆 I have an ultra.. The total opposite end of the jet ski scale from the spark. They look fun, just not suited to my needs, I'm grown up now so kind of moved on from my floundering days, 😆 I tour further than I'd want to take a spark, but I could get my daughter one and play on that when she isn't looking I guess.
