I'm new to this channel.. I was hoping to have a more in depth look at the comparison of all the jet blaster models for the 2025 line vs the SeaDoo Spark. By the end of the video I feel like I watched 20 minutes of how esthetically Yamaha copied the looks of the Sea-Doo with most images, references and specs about the Jet blaster being limited to the PRO instead of any of the other three of four models.

Firstly, welcome to the channel! Thanks for taking the time to watch-every bit of support helps a lot. Sorry, dude, that this video didn’t hit the mark for you. Objectively speaking, this video did cover quite a bit, including how the JetBlaster compares to the Spark, referencing old promo material, specs, and at the time (5 months ago) I was showing what was need material i.e. imagery, videos etc, giving an initial look at what was hot off the press at the time. In the UK, we’re only now just seeing JetBlasters arrive at dealerships. My plan is to get my bum in the seat of one so I can dig deeper. One thing to keep in mind is that, objectively, the PRO is the only truly comparable model to the TRIXX in a like-for-like comparison, which is why I focused on that machine. That said, if you rewatch, I do reference and explain that there are four models. Could I have gone deeper? Sure. But to me, the main focus was on the top-tier variants-the TRIXX for the Spark and the PRO for the JetBlaster. Thanks for watching dude, check out my older 2 stroke content ✌✌

Seadoo's historically never did well in the reliability department with their 2 stroke 2 cylinder or 4 stroke 3 cylinder engines. One day we will catch up with Yamaha by using 4 stroke 4 cylinder engines. However it will be good to bring back the one seater 2004 Sea-Doo XP DI ''951 cc 2-stroke 2 cylinder fuel injected 130 horsepower at 6750 RPM'' if they rectify issues with the fuel pump, injectors, and the electronic control module.That day is yet to come in both cases.....

I have to say, objectively, the Sparks are pretty damn reliable. I have buddies with 400+ hours, and all they do is routine servicing. If you compare that to '90s 2-strokes, it's definitely a step forward in that regard. That said, I would still rather take my old 2-strokes for their inherent low-end pull, which is just unmatched in the smaller crafts out there today. You have to go ahead and spend stupid money on an RXP to get true performance, at which point you're riding a boat... I hear what you're saying-Yamaha does make reliable skis-but I have to say, I have nine classic Sea-Doos, and they have all been pretty bombproof. I think a lot of owners neglect skis in general, regardless of brand. Thanks for watching and for your take on it! By the way, I have the '03 XP DI, and it's always been an on-the-button, great machine. That said, most prefer the carb version due to the reasons you noted.

God, I have goosebumps. This video really brought back very fond memories; owned a '96 SPX & '96 XP, brand new. These were both incredible machines and never gave me any problems. The VTS eventually failed on both of them, but whatever. Otherwise, mechanically, these were rock solid - never left me stranded, and were rode HARD in the Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. Thousands of hours. There is no comparison to the 2-stroke Rotax. I agree with other commenters here - we do still want powersport, not luxo-barges that weigh half a ton (literally). If you had the pleasure of owning one of these X4s, you know damn well you oughta be fairly athletic because your ass is off the seat quite a bit, as you're RIDING the machine, not the other way around. Thanks for this vid!

@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 6 күн бұрын
You’re right-I don’t think the X4s are underrated, but for sure most Polaris are.... The X4s are pretty well known for being such great hulls to ride. For me, it’s more a case of what I’ve been missing as I'm late the game riding and experience all these hull design... As for Polaris, never say never, man. If anything clean comes up, I’ll study it as a potential buy. The issue with Polaris is that I just don’t have the knowledge and understanding. You typically don’t see the same demand or value for those models, as even back then, the demand was for the golden trio-Yamaha, Sea-Doo, and Kawasaki. With 30 years removed, this is even more apparent. A clean X4 holds its value to this day. A clean Polaris SLX 785 PRO would be a marvel to me, as I appreciate it as a classic, but for the greater audience of these classics, there’s no real demand for one as most want the X4s/Blaster etc. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel man...

I appreciate your videos. There are no "performance advantages" to the Spark.... especially against the 787 or 951 XP's. The advantages come in the form of approachability, reliability, and dealer support...all of which are tailored to the novice. Sea Doo would do well to recognize that the popularity of the Spark and Yamaha's VX indicate that WE STILL WANT POWERSPORT, not large, heavy, 3-seater barges with stereos, cruise control, fishing poles and coolers mounted to them.
@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 22 күн бұрын
Thanks, man for watching. I really appreciate your thoughts! Like you, I agree that if you bring a 951 into the mix, the Spark struggles-but that's the whole point right now....It's why so many Spark riders are saying, "Give us a 130hp Spark!" Then we could truly compare apples to apples. Back in the day, the 951s (I have a carb GSX Ltd 951 and an XP DI 951) were putting out 130hp, so it's not really a fair comparison. That's why I paired it against the 717, which has relatively similar horsepower and, as a result, presents a more interesting matchup. I'd actually be more interested in putting something like a 951 up against my 1100 Raider. I do agree the Spark doesn't have many performance advantages-apart from weight, wheelies, and wave jumping. For those things, I'd pick it over a 951, particularly because the front-mounted XP parabolic V-engine design struggles to lift the nose like a Spark can. But yes, a lot of the appeal of the Spark is around accessibility for riders. I 1000% agree-big, compliant machines are killing the sport. That's why I want them to bring back a true XP 130 or GSX. The Spark is great, but 90hp just doesn't cut it, and the mods aren't meaningful enough to justify spending £££ for marginal gains. I'm keen to test the new JetBlaster this year. Thanks for watching, dude!

@bigpapapump8418 22 күн бұрын
@@classicjetskis I follow that you're comparing the Spark to 951-based machines but in my opinion, there's a glaring whole in your analysis.....the 787 X4. It is *THE* supreme 2T argument, for this particular size and weight-class. I also appreciate that you are comparing similar HP in your video, and I'm not discounting that point - it is an interesting and logical take on the matter. My point is that in the broad discussion of then vs now (and I think we agree on this), "What we had..." is a matter of power-to-weight. Let me add that I've had several hulls; Yamaha, Kawasaki, Sea Doo....but what made a convert and *fan* of Sea Doo was the first time I rode a '96XP. It was an instant love affair. Furthermore, I must disagree on the jumping nod you gave to the Spark. Nothing beats a 787 X4 for jumping waves. The Parabolic is fine, but with the engine out front, it's just a different tool. Likewise, for the weight and size of the GSX, a magnificent machine but really not a "great" jumper. I have both....and I love them....but they are nowhere, and I mean *NO WHERE* in league with the 787 X4, in jumping...or smile factor, for that matter. There are two machines that I personally believe will change your entire perspective on the old/new argument, the 787 X4 (surprise, right? lol) and the often-forgotten HX. There are simply no modern equivalents. I keep these two machines on their own double trailer, ready to go, because I still can't choose between which is "better", on any given day. Stay wet and keep up your videos!
@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 22 күн бұрын
@@bigpapapump8418 Dude, I totally hear you and agree with everything you’re saying. I think the reason my perspective might seem incomplete, as you mentioned, is because I can’t really comment on the 787 96 since I don’t have one, nor have I ever ridden one. My real-world experience is mostly with the 951 & 717 vs the Spark. Like you, I totally understand why everyone talks about the 787 as the holy grail of Seadoo and a proven race machine, and I’m definitely on the hunt for a clean one-when I get my hands on one, I’m sure I’ll get the full experience. For now, though, my main point of comparison is between the 717 and the 951. I have a blast jumping my 717 XP, which is on the same X4 hull as the 1996 787 XP model, but in my opinion (don’t come at me, haha), the Spark is just a bit better than the 717 because of the VTS extended bucket. It’s so light, and the throttle response is instant, like fly-by-wire vs. mechanical. More power in the 787 would probably close the gap, if not surpass it, but there’s really no match for the extended VTS in terms of getting the nose up-unless you start heavily modding the older machines. I’ve found the best way to get the nose up on the X4, but it’s more a case of spinning it and using strength to get it up. My love for the old-school jetskis comes from the power-to-weight ratio and the fact that 2-strokes are just inherently cool... But now that I also own a Spark, I can objectively appreciate what it does well. Here’s my take: on the lake, around a course, the 787 would beat a Spark, as would the 951 GSX or XP. For wave jumping, though, I’d say it’s more subjective and depends on personal preference. What I’m really interested to see is a comparison between the 787 and the 951, especially regarding the parabolic V... the front-mounted engine for buoy riding-that setup is epic. The GSX, for me, is a better version of the RX, same hull I believe. I really enjoy blitzing that across chop. As you said, it's okay for wave jumping, but I would still pick the 717 or Spark over it. As for the parabolic, I never really wave jump with that, as like I said before, it’s a better cornering lake ski. What I love about my Spark is that it’s opened up a whole new way of riding for me-summer days with Meg jumping on the back, and we can cruise for miles for just £30. But if I’m heading to the lake and want to really push performance, I’m going with my 951. And I’m sure once I get my hands on a 787, that’s going to be right up there with the rest too. Thanks for watching, dude.

@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 26 күн бұрын
Hi mate, so full disclosure, the HX has been a labor of love getting it 101% OEM and perfect, so I have no interest whatsoever in risking racing it. If I were to race, it would be via me and Dad buying a beat-up XP X4 hull or maybe another HX, and then working with some of my good friends who build race boats to create a race-spec boat. A stock 717 isn’t going to set the world alight. With all these skis, it’s about the purist approach for me-'finding, restoring, and then riding and enjoying'-but importantly, I always respect the fact that to keep my machines as clean as they are, you have to rotate and not abuse them. I wish I was around in the 90s to have one of these models and ride it like I do my Spark. I ride my Spark hard as there’s 0 fear factor there, and it’s easy to get parts and fix. Sure people say its easy to fix an old XP, which it is if you don't have care for the level of OEM and how original/clean mine are... Its hard to explain what I mean....I do love riding my X4, so I’m hoping this HX becomes a favourite for me. I want to take it to Tattershall this year, so I’m getting a move on to finish the last bits. I finally managed to pick up a NOS OEM tach for the second slot, as I’ve done the upgrades you could get from dealers back in the 90s. I had to find certain wiring to get it all to work, not to mention the fuel sender, oil sender, etc. Thanks for watching dude, as I said before, thanks for the patience from everyone waiting on next EP for the HX series, fingers crossed I will have 3 EPs that will go on one after the other...

I think another reason HX started dominating open Sport Pro classes in '95-'97 was they could use a 787 motor. Yamaha didn't have an equivalent motor to upgrade the Waveblaster 701 in open classes during that time. In mid 90s a 787 HX could do 60mph+, they were too fast compared with Waveblasters so everyone switched over to HX.
@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 26 күн бұрын
That’s an interesting insight, dude, as it makes a lot of sense-a 717 vs. a 787 is a good performance bump. My understanding is that the 717 has a 4-mount engine base plate, vs. the 3 on a 787? I could be wrong, but I did consider putting a 787 in my clean 717 95 XP 717. I opted against it in the end as I wanted it completely original. With the HX, do the mounts need to be modified to fit a 787, as my 96 HX has the 717 which looks the same as my 1995 XP 717... so at this stage assume its a 4 mount setup in the HX also unless the base plate is different between the HX and XP 717? Interesting with the Blaster, as I’m sure a lot of people, after the fact, put 1100 Raider/Kaw 1100 engines in? Assuming this was over the 1000cc limit for that series or something? I’ve heard the Blaster with a 1100 is wild! One of my followers put a 1100 Kaw into an HX also. Not sure if you can fit a 951 in an HX, but I’m excited and would love to hear more about the implications of putting a 787 in an HX, i.e., pump upgrades needed for flow, engine mounts, etc. Thanks for watching.

I must say, the RXP/RXT in sand and red has grown on me after seeing some content start to come out on it. But as for the Spark, I still think it looks like baby sick... the blue is nice, but sand on flat/matte Polytec is a bad combo. It's clear as day that the focus was on the HPC and then they just carried the color down lazily, instead of having dedicated colors. In any case, the main issue is the lack of the Spark X. I would swallow the naff color and just wrap it if we got the 130-170hp Spark. Thanks for watching.

Kawasaki just released the sx-x a fixed steer version of the sxr. Seems like a quick fix to compete with the light ski/free style market. Looks like fun, and would smash the currwnt spark and JB pro for fun factor. Although it is essentially still a stand up ski which is not apples to apples comparison.
@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 26 күн бұрын
Yeah, I hear you, man. I saw the SX-R 160 and my initial draw to it was the excitement of thinking they had attempted to draw comparisons to the OG X2 from the ’80s-’90s. In reality, though, after digging into it, like you say, it’s essentially a stand-up SXR with a fixed steering setup, so it doesn’t fully replicate the X2. Plus, from my understanding, it’s bigger than the X2, right? (as are all new gen standups)... IMO-and I don’t claim to know a lot about stand-ups and freestyle-this is a completely different lane again from the light sit-down skis like the Spark and JetBlaster, because they are sit-downs. A stand-up is always going to be a stand-up and will always have its targeted market. When I saw the SX-R, I just thought, "Why would you buy this over just going full stand-up?" You’ll be that guy at the lake with the 'stabilizers' on... IMO, a faster Spark or JetBlaster is needed to bring back the true ’90s sit-down spirit. I don’t think, in the ’90s, people were saying an X2 was a comparable option to the X4s, right? Super tricky... I do like your thought process, though. A stand-up is probably more fun, but then when you want to put a mate on the back or go out all day wave-jumping, that’s where a sit-down comes into its own. I don’t want to open that can of worms, though... ggggg stand-up vs. sit-down... Thanks for watching!

For parts, eBay and Yamaha-specific forums are great places to find what you need. Totally agree, mate! Yamaha's Superjet is a classic, and it’s tough to beat the feel of that old-school 2-stroke. They’re light, powerful, and just so much fun to ride-especially when you’re carving through the water or hitting big air. The 4-stroke versions are great for reliability and power, but there’s something about the raw, responsive power of a 2-stroke that just can’t be replicated. Yamaha definitely nailed it with the 2-stroke Superjet, and I’d love to see them bring it back. It’d be awesome to see them modernize it while keeping that iconic feel. The 2-stroke tech still holds up, and there’s a lot of demand from the community to see that old-school vibe return! Thanks for watching!

Very nice, I just clicked on to this searching classic's. I also have one of these with a similar purchasing story. This one was purchased by an OCD owner, both covers deluxe & standard. The deluxe cover is still in the original package as are all the spare rub trims he purchased. All documentation & more, original EZ Loader deluxe trailer. It was in storage for 15 years & properly winterized. It is perfect better than new showroom condition....not a imperfection of anything. When I started it the first time hour meter displayed "4.5" it now shows "6.5" I will watch the rest or your videos 🙂

Dude, what a find! That’s like uncovering a time capsule from the golden era of jetskis. An OCD owner with all the extras still in original packaging? Man, that’s collector gold right there! And only 6.5 hours? That ski’s basically still in its break-in phase. Sounds like you’ve got a real gem on your hands-treat it well and enjoy those classic vibes. Stoked you found the channel, mate, and hope you enjoy the rest of the vids! Thanks for watching!

Nice find.I have a 2001 seadoo xp. Do you know if they ever made a special cover for my year model? I've seen a red cover and a blue cover. But I can't find pictures of anything else.

Nice, man! Love the Carb XPs. I actually have 5 NOS OEM covers-2 are the matching yellow and black for your year XP, 2 are multicolor designs (purple/red & yellow). This design was made to work with any of the years from 1997-2004, hence the array of colors in the design, and the other is a neutral grey and black, which also fits from 1997-2004. This cover was made in 2007 to retrofit, hence the neutral color. All are brand new in the box. Regarding the red one you referenced, I think you’re confusing it with the XPDI cover that went with the 2003-2004 XP, which I have as well (since I have a 2003 XPDI). But it’s not intended to pair with the carb models (1997-2002). Check out this video-this is the cover I think you mean: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3PRn2eebraGr7M&ab_channel=ClassicJetskis. While the red one will fit your 2001 (since the final-gen XP ran from 1997-2004, and the top deck is the same for all those years), it’s not the right color to match your ski, as yours is yellow. If you’re interested, reach out via FB or IG. Thanks for watching!

Dont ever forget! Yamaha makes pianos and Pokeflutes... Seadoo makes PWC!

Man, this made me laugh... This must be every Sea-Doo fan's best trash talk, right? I really need to dig into how the hell they ended up with such a diverse product portfolio... Wild, really. I mean, thank God they made PWCs too, because without them, there would be no B1, no Raider, and no SuperJet... I know zero about the flutes, though. Aha. Thanks for watching!

Sounds like you have had some good skis, mate. The parabolic V hull, which is what the final-gen XP had (1997-2004), was designed for the lake to be a cornering ski, hence the front-mounted engine. It's not great for chop or wave jumping. The GSX, IMO, is a much better version of the RX. I believe the RX (which came later than the GSX) was the same hull as the GSX but just had a bigger top deck, plus the added weight of things like reverse. I rode both the carb and DI RX. It's obviously the same engine as the GSX, which is the 951cc. IMO, I always preferred the power delivery via injection vs. carb, but I do love the GSX for wave jumping. Thanks for watching, and check out my vlog at SouthPopn, where I took the GSX wave jumping.

1995... this history was developed with a sheed of paper and a dream.... the first watercraft with an action suspension sistem... the direct action suspension system!

Ah, 1995-what a year for innovation, mate! A sheet of paper and a dream turned into something legendary. That direct action suspension system was ahead of its time, adding a whole new dynamic to riding. It’s wild to think how much creativity and engineering came out of that era-no wonder we’re still obsessed with these classics today. Thanks for watching, dude!

The HX is for sure is a more acquired taste ski, even back in the day, so makes sense that you haven't seen one... As I said, since it was only around for a short time, not many realize how iconic this was. By all accounts, one of the best rider skis out there. Thanks for watching, dude 💪

I remember when the HX was released. I remember Sea- Doo saying something about purposely designing it to look like a dolphin, which it really did from the side profile. I appreciated it, but wasn't for me.
@classicjetskis
@classicjetskis 2 ай бұрын
For sure, the HX has a distinctive look, and I can kind of see how it could maybe share some design cues from a dolphin, Seadoo did really lean into this kind of theming back then... I can’t wait to ride mine... shame the HX didn’t hit the mark for you, dude. Most say it was incredible, but just hard to master. Thanks for watching 💪

HX was a blaster killer. Still is the sport spec class requires the HX the remain stock while the blaster can be fully modified.

Interesting, man. From all the people I spoke to for sources on this video, including the guys racing these back in the day, this is what I heard also... that the HX was slightly more capable. That said, there are others that say the other way... always the way, right? Thanks for watching ✌
