"I live, I die. I LIVE AGAIN!" Fun Fact: The flame-shooting guitarist is Australian artist/musician Sean Hape, better known as Iota. In an interview, he said the guitar weighed 132 pounds and shot real gas-powered flames, which he controlled using the whammy bar. Practical Over CGI Fact: Over eighty percent of the effects seen in the film are practical effects, including stunts, make-up, and sets. CGI was used sparingly, mainly to enhance the Namibian landscape, remove stunt rigging, and for Imperator Furiosa's (Charlize Theron) left arm, which is a prosthetic limb. Automobile Enthusiast Fact: Riley Keough, who plays the red-haired bride, Capable, is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, and the grand-daughter of Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley purchased Cadillacs for his friends and family, which outnumbered his personal collection. He purchased fourteen 1959 Cadillacs as 'give away' automobiles, mostly used for charitable causes. He did not own the 1959 model himself, since he was stationed in West Germany when serving in the U.S. Army. Only film to date in which Keough is seen in an automobile connected with her grandfather, who was an admirer of the Cadillac product line.

hey jake, sorry you might know this by now, that this amazing movie is all real with stunts and cars very little of cgi , ether actual destruction and composite different stunts together and green screen actors. like 99% and rest is cgi for stuff like some areas and little bits to add to the scenes, also this a retelling and sequel to the mad max trilogy that started in 1970s and 80s of the au outback you get more story to max and to what led him even though you partly got that from this film, what's cool the villain here is the same actor that played the main bad guy in the first mad max film , no connections from the two villains but it cool to see an actor to be back , Mel Gibson who was going to reprise his role as max sadly didn't but i will say tom hardy did a good job capturing our how max would be in further years down the road , very little to say and haunted by those he failed to protected

This movie is a masterclass of setup and payoff. Forget about the universal donor thing (although a great detail you'll notice is that Max keeps the blood tube the entire movie), but think about how much storytelling they got out of a pair of bolt cutters, a steering wheel, and a boot.

It helps to watch the original series to understand the world George Miller created. Before becoming a director, he was a trainee ER doctor and saw kids coming in who were mangled from joyriding. This led him to construct an elaborate post-apocalyptic world where cars and gasoline were everything. This also inspired a whole genre of B-movies and shaped a whole film aesthetic. The mouth-spray thing was inspired by kids Miller saw in Australia huffing spray paint

He was also heavily inspired by "A Boy And His Dog" (1975), the post apocalyptic dark comedy adventure starring a young Don Johnson

This is basically my favorite movie of all time.... and I've seen a lot of movies. In particular I love how so much of the character development is done just by showing us how different individuals/groups respond to death ("Witness me!", the little hand to heart thing the valkyries do, the panic after you-know-who dies, the mourning of White Darth Vader, the rage of his son, the irreverence of the doctor etc etc). Anyway glad to see your channel again. Plenty of channels talk about cinematography (poorly) but you are always so precise in your knowledge drops on storytelling.... ok back to it!

One of the things I tell people to try after a Mad Max movie is to think about the movie again, but think about it like people telling a story about a hero. A hero who saved them, fought alongside them, liberated them, whatever. My head cannon is that Max is a legend, every story is a bit long and exaggerated to a degree and missing certain details (like the retaliate scene we didn't witness). There's other scenes in the other movies that loosely support this theory too.

Really like your thoughts and insides on the story-telling aspect of movies. It's nice to have something different than the usual "wow" and "wtf" reactions. BTW, I always think it's strange that in nearly all movies where resources are limited, they waste so much of it. Like in a desert, drinking water out of a running hose spilling 95% of it. Or using up precious gasoline just for "flamethrowing" into the air. I get it, it's a great effect, but still...
@jp3813 Жыл бұрын
I think the point is that those who have a steady supply of the resource wouldn't consider it as limited for them and would freely flaunt it. The water thing is hardly an organized situation anyway since they're on the run and fighting each other.

The one enormous gap I can't overlook in this otherwise-outstanding action film is this: the War Rig was specifically going to Gas Town for guzzoline, so the fuel pod was EMPTY when they left the Citadel. I'm not sure if Furiosa was planning to scam the Rock Riders, but the fuel pod should not have exploded when it broke loose in the canyon.
@mpcjrm9 ай бұрын
Who said the pod was empty? And scam or not Furiosa knew she was gonna need fuel to either trade or use. She would have secretly had it filled. Joe wouldn’t check. Who would check her?

That's why we're here in part. I like the precise vocabulary... but I would have expected him to note the hard start and stops of each Act. It's a flawless 3 act structure.
@JakeLovesStories Жыл бұрын
@HextimusDuex I probably did and just edited it out in the condensed edit. I definitely remember talking about when Max was tied to the front of the car that we were officially in Act 2, and when they road the motorcycles away and Max caught up and told them to go back was entering Act 3. The fact its been 3 months since I watched this movie (I just checked, wow, I have to quicker editing lol, 3 months between watching and releasing is crazy) and I still remember the exact act breaks tells me I had to talk about.
