Williams’ works are brilliant and dated. The great thing about good actors like Taylor is she was a real human working convincingly in the styles of every era she passed through.

The films are dated, not the plays themselves.

Both actresses were very compelling. It is a difficult script and with less talented cast, might have failed. Elizabeth, at the zenith of her beauty, I found it hard to concentrate on her acting, especially in the bathing suit. But, again, the film just drew me in. Amazing that the subject matter got by the 1959 censors.

Very perceptive analysis, personally I find the film and Taylor’s performance to be quite overwrought.

Tennessee Williams autobio made him even WORSE a sexual predator than he was. He once said that Sebastian was himself. Its not about being gay its about being a predator with human beings of any kind which bothered him about himself.

Liz Taylor' part is more showy w many emotive ACTING, while K Hepburn's role is more memorable because it was such a rare n unexpected 'villainy' turn fr her. Taylor was mighty proud o her perf but Hepburn hated the film n almost nvr mentioned it in her intw or memoirs

He actually went to see Taylor while she was still being hospitalized for her 1961 near death experience.

Never quite bought the story. What happens to Sebastian seems imposed and clumsy. For me, Taylor was shrill and "actressy." The magic here is what Hepburn does with her part, not the story line. And special mention to the hat she wears with feathers across the forehead, a sort of half halo.

It was an extremely over the top performance For Hepburn. She ruined it for me. Too much stylised acting.

The white shark told me otherwise. It was Sebastion whose manirisms, he lost his arm and some other parts, were disgraceful. Hepburns jaws were polite, chgarming and mature.

Taylor should have received an award for being a goddess smoking her cigarettes most seductively!
