would think it would be a good idea to put a fuse near the battery, great piece of kit will be fitting one for sure, thanks for the video.

The Pecron with the cable and 500 watt charge capability is $134 The Bluetti offers more features for sure like voltage variability, bluetooth. Just installed the Pecron and so far it is working great.

Wow that’s a great price on the pecron

This is quite good for one reason, it's compatible for any power station, the down side is the 560watts , Ecoflow do the same idea, but is only compatible for Ecoflow, but the one thing Ecoflow smart alternator charger is good at, it can deliver 800watts... It's a pity the Bluetti didn't make the output the same, as this would be great for a lot off grid users, price wise basic £245 but at £299 complete with everything, Ecoflow is £329 but does come up on sale for £240, In all they both do the same but Ecoflow wins for the simple reason it kicks out more watts which if going off-grid is a definite game changer... Great info and good to see another to challenge Ecoflow... But Bluetti needs to improve on power .. great vid 👍

Question: if I'm using my own wires (Bluetti's are back ordered) and want to install a circuit breaker, would it be installed between the alternator and the charger, or between the charger and my Bluetti? Thanks so much for such a helpful video!
@TechMadeEzyАй бұрын
I would say you would want to install it on the positive cable the way it's shown in the video, if you need close up pics message me on Instagram and I can send you some. @techmadeezy

It's tempting but I'm always hesitant to buy a first-generation product, especially at the jacked up prices they have in Canada (reg. 650😱). And I would like more watts. If Ecoflow can do 800, Bluetti should be able to match them, especially at this price. I like the breaker but it's awfully clunky, and I would want to secure it so it doesn't rattle around and maybe put strain on the cable. I guess breakers are cheaper than fuses or Bluetti got a deal on a container load of them. The cable isn't too pretty either. But I guess Bluetti gave up on style a long time ago. 😅 Pecron delivers 400w (real world) at less than half the price, and I like the manual voltage dial. That might tide me over until these units mature.

Most van lifers have permanently installed solar panels so there’s no stopping, etc. Problem is that the sun isn’t always ideal.

Actually, if you live in a van you are either driving for 15 minutes from you sleeping area to where you will spend your non sleeping day hours or you are driving a while to your next destination and have the time to charge your station the standard way. The value in this system is when your vehicle is sitting and you idle for a shorter period of time just to charge your power station quicker than the standard method. This is the best method to charge your station off your van while it is running but not moving in the shortest period of time to use the least amount of gasoline. In your RV you can charge off your generator, the park hook up or if you are stationary for a few days, solar. This would also help in a power outage to use your car as a charger and use the least amount of gas. It is basically a $200 fast charger that runs on gasoline. If you can charge your unit in two hours rather than 6-8 hours using the 12v socket, that's great.

Yes but at idle speeds the alternator is not spinning fast enough and your are now drawing an additional 50 amps so it can get quite hot. Best to make sure it is not overheating and replace the pulley with a smaller one, or get an alternator with a higher output if it is getting hot.

If i'm gonna use my car to charge i'ld prefer a small drain only , if it doesn't charge it all up that's ok I like my car to start and run good.

Great overview! The one thing that sets this apart from the Pecron and Ecoflow products is the ability to continually change the DC output voltage between 17 (27 for 24 volt system) up to 57 volts which allows you to fine tune the output to get the most from the power station's built in MPPT charge controller. I can see a lot of other uses for this as well besides what is documented. Thanks for sharing! You always seem to be the first to review:D
@douglasmontgomery6315Ай бұрын
Yes, but I'm pretty sure Ecoflow could/may add that to an app update. Even if not, the Ecoflow is set apart in that it is a sealed unit, so can be put in engine bay or in an environment that the Bluetti can't. Also, the Ecoflow can allow the power station to act as a jump box if extra voltage is needed to start your car one day. I see the Ecoflow as a better option.
@johntate5284Ай бұрын
@@douglasmontgomery6315 I agree and that is the very reason that i bought it for. As the EcoFlow is sealed, it is not recommended that it be mounted in the engine bay (mine is in the hatchback area) but i think it has an IP67 rating so okay to mount in the side of a pickup truck. I would use the Bluetti, not installed in a vehicle, but with a battery box to charge the numerous smaller power stations i have and the $199 price makes it quite attractive for that.

Can the car battery be replaced with a solar panel and have the Charger1 charge a Bluetti battery?
@TechMadeEzyАй бұрын
Hi buddy It Needs your battery and alternator to create the power to charge
@nrao8977Ай бұрын
@TechMadeEzy The solar panel also does exactly that. While the car battery is at 12V, the solar panel is at 19V. So, can Charger1 accept 19V?

I have a 1000 watt power inverter hard wired to the car battery, maybe not as efficient but gets the job done just fine. So IMO this doesn't seem necessary. just setting the Bluetti ac180 to normal or silent charge mode and let it charge at lower wattage during a long drive works just fine.
