Great video! I was stoked to see the Tomtoc sling make an appearance… I used the same model on a recent 3 week trip abroad, and that bag was my anchor, with my passports, battery banks, Kindle, hand towel, sanitizer, AirPods… basically my EDC+. I would recommend going with the white and blue colorway as the inside of that one is lighter in color, making it easier to find everything. Despite the travel and use, it still looks brand new! I will say, the strap is super comfortable and easy to adjust, the zippers are smooth and easy to open one handed. My only gripe are the two “side handle” things that in my opinion would have been better as a bottom buckle system to add a jacket or umbrella underneath the bag.

Bellroy slings are my go to. I love the pockets and slots in it. Can fit my umbrella, water bottle and handheld console in it. Also fits my mini maxpedition edc bag

I bought the tomtoc late last year and it's a good somewhat hceap entry point into the world of slings. Of course I could go for something like the bellroy or aer but this was cheaper, plus i prefer the buckle over bellroy's magnetic clasp

Glad it’s working well for you! Your use case was why I wanted to include it, it’s definitely not a bad sling and it’s a good value for money. I’m definitely partial to the AER slings though if you ever get the chance to get your hands on one, not sure how strong the used market is for them but it could be a good option to get one at a discount.

The Tomtoc actually looks pretty decent aesthetically to me (in white or black though not this colour) and it looks sturdy too. I'd be interested in some elaboration on the "cheap" feel. I have loads of expensive slings, all Victorinox but I don't like them anymore because the teardrop shape isn't very practical. The way this sling looks like it changes orientation when you slide it from front to back seems really useful.

Tough to elaborate much more than I did in the video already, but I think the biggest pain point for me was just the logo. The bag is definitely decent and a great value for $40, but their big logo placement just gives of the vibe of a few item you’d get at a corporate event or something. Logo aside though the bag is pretty good, especially for the pricing.

I have a tomtoc and i have no problem with the logo. Northface has a hideous logo. For an everyday carry bag i have no problem with the quality. If something breaks just buy another. The non fanny pack way the strap is placed make cross carry great. That's my what i love about this bag. For the money its a no brainer.

I love the tomtoc sling! I stumbled on it two years ago, and I have used it extensively since. It serves really well as a out and about bag, easily carrying my essentials when I’m running errands, and it’s a great travel sling. On trips, I’ll wear it for 12 hours at a time in all temperatures, carrying my daily essentials along with a rollable water bottle and my a6000 with a 28-70 mm lens. I have the black one, but they have a customization option on their website.

The Opinel #8 is great for camping. I keep a few of them in my kit and use them when preparing or eating food that needs to be cut. The #9 works great too (a little bigger). I don't find them as useful for EDC tasks. Great knife though.

I can definitely agree with that, the lighter weight definitely makes it good to throw in a pack, the blade would be great as a camp kitchen knife too. I always use the pocket clip on my edc so it would be a tough long term choice for me as well.

The Tomtoc released an xpac version of their sling with the usual bright orange interior and smaller logo. What’re your thoughts on that? I’ve been looking at budget slings, and it’s pretty much been narrowed down to that for and extra $20 and the standard black version.

Haven’t tried it personally quite yet but in general, I’d always go with the xpac. $20 is totally reasonable for the upgrade in fabric too.

I was checking the amazon listing link and it does not say that if has RFID blocking but I did check the official site and it says it has RFID Bloicking material, so I might be wrong. In regards to testing the RFID Blocking, upon checking different sites they suggest to put an RFID card in the wallet then try to read it with a RFID scanner, if it is able to read it then it does not have that feature.
