I've used this the day I started playing and 5 years after. It's the absolute perfect starter amp because you can play around with tones and effects.

That amp sounds HUGE for its size AND price! This would be a nice, lightweight package for us older folks with bad backs who want to keep playing out, but need to lighten the load. These amps can be miked or fed directly into the PA system and deliver all the sound you need!

Nice Video TTK. I love the amp. You can't come close to anything like it for the price. You will definitely pay more and get way less. I have the Vypyr 75W and have loved it. It's packed with effects and it sounds great. Way more power than I need but I can plug straight into a pc, etc. to record. Love it! I also have a 15W Roland that sounds nice but no way near the versatility and amount of effects. The Vypyr Rocks!

I recently bought The Vypyr 2x12 100 watt Solid State. I love iut now on the 15 it does not have the 12 stomp box preamp effects that are analog like my amp does. I think you get the Stomp box pres starting on the 30 watt versions. I will say this its amazing I got rid of my Line6 Spider 210 120 watt and bought this and would never go back to the line6. My Vypyr sounds like a tube amp the sounds Im able to get from this amp all in one unit is phenomenal. Great as always TTK Thanks Bro!!

As long as you're not playing at high levels, this little fucker is absolutely amazing for distortion loving players, and hell even clean channel/funk and more. I actually play this little guy with my Les Paul Studio and it replaced a Orange Tiny Terror I had in just a lounge room as my go to farting around amp. The only pedal you need would be for switching out channels on the fly honestly, as this thing is capable of fantastic tones and distortion free of any Tube Screamer pedals or pedal mods, right off the 6505 and utterly fantastic 6534 channels. A noise gate/suppressor might be needed for active pick ups on those channels, but I run a noise suppressor through my 5150 EVH Block Head using just the built in distortion with my ESP/LTD EC-1000 with the EMG 81/85 pick ups anyways. If this thing had a Marshall 1960a speaker thrown in replace of it's current one, it would without a doubt be the best distortion amp in it's class, up until around the $500 mark honestly. (Given at the $500 mark you can buy an all tube 5150 and 6505 combo, but loose the versatility of this little guy in sacrifice of having a pedal loop station). My only complaint is the general ugliness of newer Peavy products and that the chromatic tuner built within, isn't good for low tuning, such as C tuning for heavier music. Through on a Boss Chromatic Tuner and you're good to go. Another note is that I tried this on a cheaper guitar, an Ibanez (S series?) Les Paul copy cat, (with no mods/changes, other than the enamel painted neck being stripped down to wood) which goes for around $300 USD, and even that sounds fantastic on this.

This is the amp I throw into the trunk when I head to the lake for the weekend. Ok so I bought this at a garage sale for $30, I'm a bassist but I couldn't pass it up. I find that it makes a great little practice amp right next to my bed. My question is - How do I defeat all the effects and basically just have a little amp that pushes a fairly generic bass sound? I think this is an awesome little amp and well worth $100. I played around with it for a bit and got the desired sound needed. However I'm getting about a 5 second delayed repeat of everything I play.

Only thing I did not like about this was how much there was going on with each knob. Was looking for something to drag a lot to jam.
@mistermojo19696 жыл бұрын
The volume is pretty good for light jam sessions (no crazy drummers or electronics) and it's really portable. It has a LOT of options and it's a little sensitive. Hard to see in a dark room. I also used a label maker to add text to help underneath. Presets are your friend! If you set them ahead of time, you can make tone and gain adjustments on the fly pretty easily. I'd probably get the amp model that works the best for whatever you're trying to do and go for the preset tone and gain positions to be as close to high noon as possible. This makes it easy to adjust depending on the situation. Effects are a tricky to make adjustments to in real time. But there are plenty of presets available so you can set some of them up with effects as well.

I had one of these and loved ig. I want to get another one. Only reason I got rid of it was I went back to playing drums and sold it for drum equipment. But it was and is a killer amp. If they made a rack mount verison of it I would talk my guitar players into running them. Nothing but good things to say about this amp. And it puts the spider 4 to shame.

I had four Peavey Vypyrs over the course of a year. Had nothing but problems with all of them, even with the latest firmware. As in, got one, took it back, got an exchange, took it back, waited a year, got one, took it back, got an exchange, took it back. Now I won't touch Peavey products. Still giving the review a thumbs-up though because it was a good review even if I don't care for the product.

@Fullcollapse19 жыл бұрын
Yes i totally agree! I just sold it for $230 . The distortion sounds way too fuzzy once you crank it up it makes that nasty feedback noise. It works great using a noise supressor but that's to much shit to deal with. I feel if you are gonna buy an amp that's over 200 it better sound good and not have to buy extra pedals when you can just get a cheap/crappy amp that has a good clean and set up a distortion pedal and a few others. I'm getting the Blackstar ht 40.

Depends which version, I've owned a peavey vypyr 15 and fender mustang ii 15 and a spider iv 75. the spider sounded the best out of all of them and with the most features (such as being able to plug into ur pc and upload settings and update the effects and sounds). The vypyr and the mustang ii are long gone and I cant say I really miss them. Though there is also the watt difference and therefore price difference.

@gr8mangiacake8 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem. There seems to be no way to save the post gain to a lower setting so you always end up bursting an ear drum when you change amp models. that might be fine if you're happy with loud volume ALL THE TIME but sucks not having any control since I can hardly go above 1-3 on the volume dial. dissapointing amp.
