Shoddy umpiring by home country? What do you mean? Dharmasena and erasmus were the umpires I remember umpire turning down a catch appeal off kane Williamson in an earlier match which was clearly out. Why don't you be consistent and say nz didn't deserve to win that match? It was against SA and nz were 173 for 5 chasing 242. Had he been given out they would've been 173-6, and rabada ,ngidi etc to nz tail. Kane went onto make a century and be notout. NZ actually barely qualified to the knowckouts with 11 points, and beating pak by just runrate. Had they lost that match , they wouldn't been in the knockouts even. So luck goes both ways. What's done is done .get over it

@@Lathi33 I guess it had nothing to do with home country, yes that decision of giving England 6 runs instead of the legit 5 runs as per the rules was bad & incorrect which even Dharmasena admitted later on but I guess it has nothing to do with the home country, I think the 3rd umpire was also guilty of being sleeping when he didn't had any interference in that decision, he could have easily used his walkie-talkie to remind on-field empire about the ICC rules & their mistakes. I hope ICC took some notes from this, having such game changing big blunders in the biggest event of Cricket should not be tolerated.

I guess they just used up all their luck😅 I mean the only reason NZ qualified through to semi finals was just pure luck. They got 11 points. Game against india was washed out, i was pretty sure , without the knock out stage pressure india would've steam rolled nz. They got 1 point there. NZ Lost to pakisthan, England and australia. They were pretty heavy defeats too. They won by luck against SA and WI Kane did not walk against SA and against WI carlos just lost the match by an inch. The only teams they beaten convincingly were Afganistan, bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Had stokes been only given 5 runs for that, he would've played differently too. The reason he did not attempt a big shot was because they only needed 2. So no point in saying they lost the match because of that 1 run.

@@Lathi33 I wan't talking about NZ's luck or Stokes batting, I was referring to such decisions on such big occassions that might have caused the cup for any team, as you can't guarantee the result of the next ball as who knows if Stokes would have hit it for a six or got out? All what fans would remember from that ball was what really happened in reality. Also if we talk about the luck, to be honest the tournament was pretty weird, both NZ & ENG have almost similar run in that WC, they both played pretty ordinary cricket in the league stages so much that at one instance both teams were on verge of been knocked out, even if India defeted them in the league stages they would've been out, as you mentioned NZ's ordinary performance, ENG also lost against PAK, AUS & SL in league stage. Maybe those league stages hiccups might have helped both teams to become more tuffer when they upped their quality in the Semis & Finals as compare to the Top 2 teams from the league stages India & Australia who probably took semis lighter. No matter who became the winner, but the fact is that both NZ/ENG was the first WC winning team probably since 1992 WC that won a WC despite losing 3 or more games before knockouts after Imran's PAK from that WC.
