I really appreciate that you said "I didn;'t speak the language." instead of "They didn't speak English." when referring to the miscommunication regards having your own bag.

hahaha i live in singapore where it’s “hot and humid” 365 days a year, of course i’m used to it since i’m born and raised here but it’s really funny listening to a foreigner’s point of view. thank goodness for air conditioning!! i haven’t been to thailand or vietnam though should totally go one day since it’s so near me

Excellent review of your trip packing. I watched the video of the packing one yesterday and was surprised you didn't pack any antibiotic cream or sun screen. I did think the make up would be redundant, you don't need to wear it. You didn't pack a sun hat either, but those are easily bought in Asia. I'm in Australia, so I'm very aware of sun protection, it's very easy to get severely burnt without it, just walking around. Natural fibres are definitely the way to go in hot humid weather. Polyester is for cold weather. Glad you enjoyed your time in Asia.

You are right! I ended up needed all of those things. I know now for next time!

Nice video :) some things I want to add to the "useful"-list: earplugs. Like good, noise reducing, soft earplugs you can even wear when you sleep. Helped me a lot in hostels or on the plane, bus, etc. Another thing we bought in thailand is a little battery shaped bottle with a really sharp eucalyptus scent. Helps against nausea and sickness while travelling. Also good when it just doesn't smell good around you. I don't know where to buy this at home though... oh and a second towel. At the beach we used one to lie down on and one to wrap up in... also it's not that nice to use a very sandy or dirty towel after showering, and when you have just one and wash it, it feels like ages to dry in that humid climate. We had two and even sometimes ran out of clean dry towels :D

Thanks! Its super helpful to know how the packing went! Thanks for the update! I really liked that you tried the clothes that you brought on when you did your packing video. No one else did this when I did my research and I found it more helpful to have a better idea what to bring! Thanks again 😊

My only advice if you travel to SEA, always have diarrhoea tablets in your bag, as most of the foods especially Indonesian are spicy...but you have to try it as its delicious. But nowadays many resto in Indonesia offers the level of the chilli, from level 1 - 10, LOL.

This is so helpful!!! I really like your approach to minimalism, I really like how honest and balanced you are, specially when it came to plastic waste. On the water bottle issue, I was thinking maybe two lightweight water bottles could be better? I know it sounds stupid but in my experience with really big (1 lt) water bottles they're so bulky it's hard to take a sip or even refill at a regular sink, just to keep that in mind. I wish you success in everything! 💕

Ashley Miranda agree re water bottle. Perhaps a light weight collapsible water bottle as well as the insulated bottle

Just as the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy said; always know where your towel is! Also - as an aside about the crop top.... When I first started traveling Asia, I was told that some countries do not really like black clothes. I always tried to reduce the black (and it is one of my go to colours) if I was traveling somewhere it might be offensive.

Platypus do foldable 2L water bottles, they're great because you can pack it up when you're not using it. But when it's filled up you can just clip it to your pack so it doesn't even have to take up extra space.

Thanks for this. I had forgotten that I need to bring a laundry bag. I was going to order one, but I went through my junk and realized I had a foldable bag with draw strings that I can use for free. I got it when I bought a pair of sketchers. ☮️💕

Think when travelling it is better to wear comfortable trainers, with a good non-slip sole. Even in hot or colder countries. Flip flops are great for hostels, showers or the beach/swimming pool. Then you will not slip in mud. If trainers get dirty you can clean /wash them easily. Great video.

what backpack did you use? was it good for climbing gear? also, what climbing gear did you use most and what could you have left at home?
@RebeccaSisson5 жыл бұрын
My backpack is a Mammut...I believe it’s the Lithium Crest? Much of the climbing in Asia (especially Thailand where we did the majority of our climbing) is sport. Leave your trad gear behind! We brought 12 quick draws, 70m rope, belay device, hollowblock for rappels, shoes, harness, helmet, chalk...that’s really all you need. We brought anchor material and didn’t need it.

Hi, I'd be particularly interested in how you packed as a couple - what things did you bring only one of and what did you take double? E.g. soap, laundry stuff, water bottle etc. Did you each bring your own of everything or did you share, and how did that work out? Thank you!
@RebeccaSisson5 жыл бұрын
We brought our own of pretty much everything. The only things we shared was the laundry bag and the grocery bag. There were days where we would adventure on our own so we wanted to make sure we could be independent.

The way to carry as much safe drinking water with you while not loading yourself down is to take a "Clearly Filtered" brand stainless steel 20 ounce water bottle with you. It will filter and purify your water. Google the name and you will be jmpressed. It would be smart to have a couple of these.

I’ve felt shoes are redundant and that going barefoot most of the time is optimal, so just a single pair of shoes for those situations that require it like a touch hike perhaps. Otherwise SE Asia is nice to try some barefooting and also avoid the extra weight in the pack from shoes
