At least the food in Denmark is much cheaper unless you buy salmon maybe. Love going to Norway mostly for skiing, but often bring the food from home or at least part of it. Norway is so beautiful, now with the corona, there will probably be more tourism internally between the nordic countries. I'm sure thinking of going to Norway in the summer if we are allowed to, with a corona pass, I have got vaccinated a few weeks ago.

If you like cows that much you should totally go to øko-dag. (Sadly not a option due too Corona this year, but maybe around this time next year 🤷 ) It's a day where some farms are open for the public, and the farmer then opens the gates so that the cows can run back on their fields, sounds kinda borring.... but after being held inside for the entire winter, the cows gets super excited about finnaly going outside again, so much that they start to run, and do some weird jumps, they totally freak out, because they cant contain alle the happines inside them, so they let it out in these weird jumps. It's just a nice day out for the family, and you get to see some happy cows.... Win/Win 😊👍
@larsmuldjord99073 жыл бұрын
+1 to this. I've been to Øko-dag several times and it's always a joy. Many farmers arrange fun things for the kids to do and there's places to buy food and the scouts sometimes join in setting up a bonfire to make "snobrød". It's just a great day for the family. And the highpoint is of course when the cows are let out and dance around the pastures. Love it!

Have you invested in, or considered, the zoo kort?? I think it's about 475kr per person per year from date of purchase, BUT for that you get personal free entry on any regular opening hours, you can bring one guest per card for free on the special zoo days, get a few discounts on merch bought in the stores in the zoo... and finally, it provides you with discounts on the entrance to a bunch of other places in Denmark, including some other zoos, aquariums etc. (If I remember the ticket price for cph zoo right, visit 3 times during a year and you've already "paid for the card")
@shywalker4043 жыл бұрын
One can actually see the elephants from the Frederiksberg have , look at a map where it meets. So if you want to catch a glimpse , you dont even have to pay to get inside the zoo, just walk in the park, find that corner where the two meet and see the elephants :) Maya likes cows ?When Denmark is all open again and next year spring , Maya should check out when the cows are led to pasture, they are let out for the first time after winter. They run , jump and leap , just like huge dogs have a blast ,it is real fun to watch. They show it on tv also in the news at evening, but so much better IRL. If you already know this or have seen this , yay :-D

The great thing about most (if not all) of the danish zoo`s, they are part of the "european breeding and perservation program" (det eruropæiske avlsprogram) and they make sure that these species are safe from extinction, by making sure animals arnt interbred with animals they are relatives to and they also take part in releasing animals back into the wild. Very interesting to dig into the breeding program and all the things it does for animals.

@mwtrolle3 жыл бұрын
Agree, they are animals of shame! Though I think it was more the result of the suppression of the Tibetan demonstrators doing the visit from the CCP, which later lead to the Tibet-commission. Anyway no one gets the pandas gifted, the US zoo that was talked about didn't and neither have the Copenhagen zoo! They are only on loan as long as we do the CCP's bidding. @mwtrolle3 жыл бұрын
It's normal to use dogs to socialize big cat cubs. You can find some that are really easy on the cubs and the grownup cats are not. I get how the cubs were cute, and would love to hold one. But I do find it kind of problematic, that they had to be in contact with so many people. They should be allowed to live as normal a life as possible, they need to be tame so that the keepers can do what they need, but that's not there same as having contact to hundreds of people a day.

Great Video Copenhagen Zoo is Ok compared to many of the zoos i visited in the USA. It is one of the worlds oldest though. ut if you look on size its one of Europes smallest. If you like big try Knuthenborg Safaripark, one of Europes largest in southern Denmark (on your way down you could make a stop at Krokodille zoo in Eskilstrup with Europes largest collection of crocodiles) If you like big there are Berlin zoo (the worlds biggest collection of animals incl giant pandas) and Berlin Tierpark (with 160 ha 12 times as big as Copenhagen zoo with a rainforest hall where you walk among giant flying foxes). If you ever travel to Austria, Belgium or the Netherlands Vienna has the worlds oldest zoo. You drink coffee like the emperor did 250 years ago, it has giant pandas and a walk through aviary with bats Arnhem with my favorite zoo, bit like in Omaha you have a desert house, rainforest house, mangrove house etc where you walk through these habitats with animals almost running free around you. Relative near by is Kröller-Müller Museum with the worlds 2nd largest collection of Van Gogh in the middle of a National Park Many people though think, once they have been there (only Belgians now about it) that Pairi Daiza is Europes best zoo
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
What actually defines a "good zoo"? Size have nothing to do with it. Mind you, my wife is an animal caretaker who specializes in training of natural behaviours and rehabilitation of exotic animals, as well as developing habitat enrichment protocols. Quite a few zoos here in Europe, including those in Belgium, the Netherlands and several others, do a pretty poor job of such things. A zoo is not a good zoo because it's big or pretty, a good zoo works because the animals are properly healthy, get the correct daily enrichment and live without stereotypical behaviours etc. Copenhagen zoo is actually one of the best in the world, along with the San Diego zoo when it comes to rehabilitation and animal healthcare.
@Dovndyr133 жыл бұрын
@@AB-80X Yes Copenhagen was quite good 20 years ago when it maybe was the leader of behavioural enrichments. And I agree a lot of zoos inside the EU does very little except what, if an EU country, the EU law says. I know san diego zoo has been maybe the world leader in periodes for behavioural enrichments and zoopsychology. I guess one of the reasons why San Diego got the platypus since a year or 2. But there is a reason why Knuthenborg got 4 retired elephants, why Pairi Daiza got giant pandas and not antwerp zoo which after all is the national zoo like copenhagen.

Some get peed on, but that's it :D If flowers AND zoo is a thing, you could visit Jesperhus blomsterpark - you can rent cabins right next to it. My favorites is always the parrots, if they have any. Mainly because i have a blue/gold Macaw myself ;)

quick question: Why are no one wearing any masks?
@TravelinYoung3 жыл бұрын
Everyone who enters the zoo has to provide proof of a negative corona test within 72 hours. We are tested 2-3 times a week depending on what we are doing. Also, masks are not required in outdoor areas in general but we do wear them if it's particularly crowded. We always follow all health guidelines when it comes to corona safety.
@mwtrolle3 жыл бұрын
you don't have to if it's outside in Denmark, the main part of the coronavirus is spread by droplets hanging in the air. If you are outside the droplets are dispersed fast are gives almost no added risk. Unless of cause you are sneezing someone directly into their face. But I think people are pretty good at keeping the distance here in Denmark. When it's indoors in public places people do have to wear a mask unless they are children.

Has the Zoo opened up to the public again. That was riski. Covid still not gone away. But hey.. I hope you had a great safe day. Next stop Giveskud
@TravelinYoung3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it has opened and everyone is required to be tested negative before entering. Similar to most everything else in DK now. We get tested 2 to 3 times a week, before we do anything around other people.

@@Fractal227 that is so true. But we still see dumb people do dumb things. I’m glad they have the testing before you can visit.

@@BaconDanish I'm a Dane, I do think we are taking a to big risk in opening too much up. But places like the Zoo is not really problematic as you can require everyone to be vaccinated or have a fresh clean test. Besides that, there is an extremely low transmission of SARS-CoV-2 outside especially if people can keep the distance. This far the reopening has gone fine, probably because of the extremely high level of testing in Denmark (one of the highest in the world in relation to the population), though I do think the reopening is too fast and therefore risky, the risk here is that we might have to close more down again. But trust the government to be on top of it and do so in time so that the SARS-CoV-2 spread does not get that great that the hospitals will be under pressure.

Great that you had at good time, but it really is sad that we imprison innocent animals for the sake of our own amusement, it really is Speciesism in its worst form. Most people don't even understand what zoochosis is, its really sad,

zoochosis was a thing of the past in danish zoo's.

@@Fetguf even if that was the truth, which it sadly isn’t, then it doesn’t change the fact that these many of these animals esily move over much larger distances than their prisons can emitate. And entertainment is a horrible readon for imprisonment
