Best App for Quilting! Plan FMQ and Quilt Ideas Easily!

I am often asked what apps I use for quilting and Procreate is really my favorite. I'll show you the basics on importing a picture or diagram of your quilt to draw on, using layers to mix and match designs, how to audition different thread colors and use shapes and colors to sketch quilt ideas! All of my quilts start as sketches in Procreate before moving on to other software like Adobe Illustrator for exact measurements and diagrams.
Procreate is an Apple IOS only product but I"m sure there are others available for Android devices. You can find Procreate here: apps.apple.com/us/app/procrea...
I love Procreate not only because its a great, functional app but its also a one-time purchase--no pesky subscription fees!
I love my iPad and I use it for just about everything. I know Procreate will run on an iPad mini but it really shines on a larger iPad with the Pencil:

Try “Combine Down” instead of “Merge Down” to put the two elements together. It makes kind of a folder that holds both layers together. So, when you move one, the other moves too. but they remain independent and editable. You can also drag even more layers into the folder. Great way to preserve your work without merging. 😄

Thank you so much for these tips. I have had my iPad Pro for 2 years and added Procreate almost immediately when I first got it. I didn’t know half the stuff you showed. I would love another video like this showing us how to do quilting things. The other videos I have watched were mostly from artists and I couldn’t translate those techniques into usable options for quilting related tasks.

I just found you. And what has become my usual procedure, I have been binge watching your videos from the beginning. They are great! And so useful!! I haven't been able to quilt for several years. When I was quilting before, all I would attempt was quilt-in-the-ditch or cross-hatch. As a result, I have many ufo's. You have given me the confidence to try fmq because you show patterns even I think I can do. I only have a domestic machine, but you show how to adapt your designs. Mind. Blown! My current iPad has some scratches/nicks in the screen which make it not so fun to use an apple pencil. It's also *way* old (first gen iPad Pro). I've been thinking about getting a new one, but worried I wouldn't use it. After seeing this...I can see SO much value in using that device! Maybe I'll upgrade after all! Do you use Procreate to design piecing, too? I'd love to see a tutorial on how you design your quilt tops!

I love watching all the creativity and capabilities that some tools,, like a tablet can offer to a quilter. However, unfortunately, I don't see an opportunity in which I will ever be able to ever afford any type of tablet 😕. I only recently was able to get a new laptop courtesy of my Mother and it was on sale of $300.

I use the Apple Pencil 2. I tried a few other stylus but nothing works quite like the pencil.

Hi ty for sharing! I've been using procreate in the last week to practice free motion feathers is there a way to not get the prefect shape I hold the pen down and it goes to the prefect shape I don't want it then.

just click the undo button and it'll go from the "perfect shape" back to your original linework :)
