The review part of this video is not sponsored nor did I receive any money to review the item. While I sometimes get bags for free, I have to pay custom fees, shipping fees and all my videos have lots of production costs (e.g. software and music rights). Therefore I invest my own money into all of these videos and I have no intention to be biased towards a product or company. Every review and quicklook is written by me and no company can pay for preferential scheduling or what is said in the video. HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.
AFFILIATE LINKS:
No matter if I like or dislike a product, I want to make it easy for you to check out the product yourself. Therefore I include a link of the productpage. That link is an affiliate link, meaning if you buy the product via the link you DO NOT pay more, but you will support the channel.

I sold this bag 1 month ago and now waiting for a new one arriving this week 😂😂😂 Yeah, one of those sell regrets. I never realized how much I missed simple bags. If you have many bags like most of us viewers here do, it is much more efficient and easy to use pouches when switching bags. This is where the PLC20 comes in. A big main compartment and a big dump pocket up front

Looking forward to see a video of that top five bags of 2022. I like this bag, too. It is my casual bag of choice, with Able Carry Daily. The best is the easy use and the build quality but some materials have a "special" toch feeling, and, as you say the straps are hanging a lot. I find myself in troubles when packing these bags to work as far as I wear the laptop, notebooks, the meal, water, edc stuff... but if I grab a bigger backpack, weight goes up quickly... a difficult compromise... perhaps Civic 26L could be it.
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 2 жыл бұрын
With all of the items that you mentioned 20L can become too small fast. I guess 24l would be a good middle ground. 26l despite being just 2l bigger, can be way too big on my back tbh. It's OK, but then I likely tend to overpack. Or maybe get something like the ATD2 or remote equipment with a rolltop clamshell hybrid. That way you could expand if you need

Great video, Bo! I'm also a huge sucker for Evergoods bags... every time I think I have enough packs Kevin and Jack come out with something that keeps tempting me. This is an outstanding bag and if I didn't already have the half-zip I'd probably jump on this one. Very curious about the back-panel breathability, they really put a lot of R&D into that. Still waiting for them to stock the blue pouch!

I have the CPL V3 which has the same new back panel. It's better than not having any back panel at all like the CPL V2 and CHZ V1, but I didn't find it to be all that helpful in keeping my back cool. Disclaimer: I'm a fairly sweaty dude and I've been using the CPL during the hot California summer. The fabric of the back panel is initially cool to the touch. The issue though is that there isn't any airflow going through your back while wearing your pack. Since there aren't any air channels for air to escape the heat from your body gets trapped. Theoretically the 3D spacer mesh with the permeable fabric is suppose to allow for that air movement but I personally don't feel that in effect. The back of my shirt has sweat marks from not that much walking with my backpack on. To me the huge benefit is that the back panel (and the backside of the shoulder straps) fabric is slick. Unlike the high tenacity nylon used on previous versions of Evergoods bags I have zero issues with clothes pilling due to rubbing against my backpack. It also makes wearing the backpack much more comfortable shirtless.

Great review! 👍🏻Hoping that PLC20 V2 will more refined. - update to Ballistic 840D material - make tablet compartment bigger - add water bladder ports on right and left shoulder - add side carry handle, can be used to add mods (water bottle pocket, utility straps to hold umbrella, tripod, jacket, etc.

I think this PLC is supposed to look sleek, hence no bladder slots on the straps, no bottle pockets. I would love to see a smaller 15L version and keeping the 1680D because of the looks.

Thanks. That's a good question. Both bags are amazing. The able Carry daily has a few more slots and the a frame is amazing. But the Evergoods has a bit more capacity. I felt that I could put more stuff into it. And the while the a frame is great on the able Carry, the lack of the a frame on the Evergoods makes it a bit easier to fully open the clamshell. So in the end: both are great and it just comes down to if you want capacity vs lots of slots and organization

Nice follow-up! I wish I felt the same. I wanted to love it. But the shape; the fabric; the hard, back bottom edge against my back; the stitching across the front bottom (wish they kept it clean); the way it creases when not packed full; the frowning zipper on the front...make it a miss (though I agree with what you say...just enough pockets/space, comfortable straps, well made, clean lines, perfect for those short of torso...). Despite it not calling my name, I will always be an EG fan girl - even when their bags don't work for me. And I love that darn patch. Enjoy it.
@Youknowthebo

Thanks for sharing. That are some very valid points. And it's sad, that the bag doesn't fit your needs. But to end on a positive note: I think that's also the beauty of this niche. Bags make it so apparent that we all have different needs and use cases that one bag might be the best for one whilst it is the worst for someone else. And this fact alone makes bags so interesting for all of us enthusiasts 😉✌️ What's your current bag of choice?

@@Youknowthebo It's not a you bag but...Tom Bihn Synapse 19 (for EDC). I like that everything I need to get to is on the outside (including my water bottle). And I like that everything can be tethered (I lose things). I also like that it has a waist strap as I am often running for subways, meetings, and buses - stability helps (late is a trait for some of us NYCers. I like to blame public transportation). I also like that my electronics are separated from my water bottle. Clocking in at about 17" long, it agrees with my short torso and height (5'6"). No hard edges bumping into my back. I wear chic clothes (IMHO) and I like the contrast. Granted, it's not as chic as the Evergoods but comfort and function are key for me. I do a lot of walking (or running). I am testing a Goruck GR1 21L Black Heritage. It's wicked hard to find packs that fit my frame and agree with my aesthetic. Sometimes, you have to give up something. I find the options pretty limited for us that are short of torso and just plain short and offer features, comfort, are well-made and aesthetically pleasing. If you have suggestions, I'm all ears (not a photographer). We have a very similar aesthetic.

Great review as always Bo. I like this bag as well, but just falls a little short for me for a few reasons. No water bottle pocket is one. I just like being able to grab water without taking tje bag off shoulder at times. Also, I am one of the guys that don't like the shoulder straps as much. Not really uncomfortable, but they feel like they slide off my shoulders when not sternum strapped. The CHZ22 straps feel locked in on my shoulders and have the best water bottle pockets on the market, imo. I do like the clamshell of this one and really love the front dump pocket. Don't love the fabric. I think my perfect pack would be a CHZ22 with the front dump pocket in the new fabric they just released. Good stuff tho man, keep the content coming...

Thanks for the sharing your experience with the bag, Eric. The chz22 is a great bag as well. Now that I think of it they both are great and I might have a difficult time choosing between both of them. Yeah, initially I thought that I would prefer the laptop slot to be outside. But with this size I consider this more to be an everyday office bag ie. Arrive at destination and get all your stuff out of one compartment. Opposed to a bag that I might use for traveling as well in which I might need to take out the laptop at the tsa security check. That is why I don't mind the inside laptop slot.
