Balance bikes are the way to go! My older son couldn't get off his training wheels until we got him on a balance bike.

My 7 year old went from a Balance Bike straight to his 1st bike at 5. No training wheels....he is on his 3rd bike a Speacialzed Jr ...I was skeptical...but worth every penny! Just do it!

I grew up in the mid 90’s and learned on training wheels. They weren’t good at teaching kids proper balance on a bicycle. It’s cool seeing how the market changed since then and understands that there is safer and smarter way to teach young kids how to properly ride. Unfortunately for me, the day my training wheels were taken off, I crashed my bike into our neighbors RV and scraped up my knee

What a story! Thanks for sharing and glad that RV survived. 😂 things are different these days for sure. Wish we had mulch jumps and foam pits back when we were learning to jump too!

@theloamwolf something cool about the strider is you can get a rocking base to get them on it much earlier. My 10 month old has been rocking for a couple months already

Also, found both the strider and d the rocking base on marketplace for $80 total.

I can’t stress enough what a game changer balance bikes are for early riders. My 6 year old started riding her 16” pedal bike without stabilizers at 4 years old because she’s had a balance bike since she was 2. Our neighbor’s 4 year old has had confident issues on her bike with stabilizers, but we got her on a balance bike and she’s gaining confidence and fun every day!

Awesome thanks for sharing! Sounds like she’s an awesome riding partner!

So cool to see your little one riding! My munchkin is just about two and has been paddling her cheap little 8" wheel Amazon special around the house for a handful of months. We're looking for something to take outdoors now that it's getting warmer.

My kiddo rode his first 14" pedal bike on his 3rd birthday after a year of lazily playing with a 12" balance bike and maybe 3-4mo that he got into it more. Training wheels were never introduced.

@TheLoamWolf yeah 100%. I was torn between Woom 1 and Alpha Zero for my younger one. I think I'm pretty set on the Woom at this point. Weight, steering limiter, low standover - great call out on the brakes! I can't stress weight enough as factor for these tiny humans. Just think about having to pedal an ebike without shifting or assist up an incline.. that's about what they are doing at that age. My 3.5yo is currently on a Zulu 2 and I got a bit creative about dropping the weight, since it is kind of heavy (tires alone -1lbs on this one).

Forgot to ask, what's the helmet? Is that one of the strider lookalikes?

My humble opinion is to get a bike with pedals. I taught 2 of my kids to ride. One struggled with the balance bike and started to ride when I put him on a small, normal pedal BMX. The other one was stuck on the balance bike. Got stuck on bad habits, putting feet down, had trouble catching up with the pedal concept. I think a balance bike teaches bad habits, and frankly I was always nervous about my boys' balls :) ... when I saw them bounce on the pedal-less bike.... Bad habits: put feet down (instead of braking), and well... not standing on the pedals, because there are none.. Just my 2c. I know it works for some kids and doesn't for others. If I had to repeat the process, I would put them immediately with the correct size small bike with front/rear brakes.

@carterschichtel967811 ай бұрын
I don’t see the point of them. It promotes bad riding practice in my opinion. If anything getting a real bike and having the cranks off for the first day seems like the best way to go.

@carterschichtel967811 ай бұрын
@@maxrhulen You mean the kid born into racing from BC? All I’m saying is promoting dragging your feet is a bad idea. Would I have benefited when I was able to ride a real bike around a track like that at 2 years old?
