been using them for a year on my orbea wild. I like them, they do all that i need, but I agree that to extract more power from the brake, you have to apply more pressure on the lever. This causes arm pump and a tired forearm. wondering if changing pads, or installing a 220mms rotor will help. otherwise, I am considering upgrading for a system gentler on my forearms. Any tips are welcome :)

If it was street legal maybe but where are people using these UTVs? I guess I live in the wrong state.
@TheLoamWolf15 сағат бұрын
Would be rad if they allowed these on all city streets with speed limits under 35mph!
@ltdanyj15 сағат бұрын
Why would I spend $45k on this, when I can get a street legal Wrangler or Bronco for the same price?
@TheLoamWolf15 сағат бұрын
Yeah that is a tougher question for sure. In some states these can be made street legal. But even if it can’t, the main reasons we’d see be argued for this: better And smoother ride while driving it off road than wrangler or bronco by far. Way more capable. Cost of maintenance and repair and parts will be cheaper because the shuttle roads we drive absolutely destroy vehicles. Everything rattles loose in them. Then you’ve got the interior getting thrashed by 3-5 dirty/muddy butta getting in and out of your vehicle 4-8 times in a day. Don’t get us wrong, we’d probably buy a more affordable version of this if we were in a position to buy an extra vehicle that is… Now, buying a $3-6,000 dedicated beater shuttle truck?? That could be a better debate.

Sweet lifted golf cart, bro. I want one in 25 years so I can be the manliest retiree at the RV park. This feels like a sponsored video to get someone their UTV at a discount. Are we now reviewing vehicles that "feels more like a car" but need a tow vehicle to get it to the dirt road to then shuttle your bike to the trailhead? I know I likely come across as a hater, but I think we got lost somewhere along the way.
@Riley88016 сағат бұрын
For the price of that setup you could just buy everyone a ebike. I understand sponsored content is sponsored content, but this is ridiculous even for yall.

Going around blind corners at 55? And you're a serious mountain biker? This is why Jeep drivers, hikers, hunters, dirt bikers, and mountain bikers are united in their hatred for these things. The capabilities of these vehicles don't make reckless endangerment okay.
@TheLoamWolf15 сағат бұрын
As hobbyists of many of the activities you listed down below, reckless is far from anything we were doing in this vehicle in this video. As dirt bikers we definitely have had some scary and close moments with these things being driven on trails they are not legally allowed on. But, ultimately it’s the people operating the device, whatever it is that creates the negative experience. As a dirt biker you should understand that as plenty of equestrians, hikers, and other nature enthusiasts would say the same thing about moto riders and jeepers.
@barrydworak14 сағат бұрын
@TheLoamWolf you said you came around a corner at 55 and then saw a trail full of whoops in front of you. And if there were a couple of kids learning to ride whoops? Oh well, right. Gotta get to the trailhead a minute sooner. FTR I do all those things myself. And my Jeep will get wherever I need to go, no trailers needed, just not at freeway speeds on FS roads with blind corners. You're right. It is the operator, not the machine. And by your own description you are the problem. At least you weren't drunk like some guys. I hope.
@TheLoamWolf14 сағат бұрын
If there was anyone in the whoops we would have seen them miles in advance as the knee high brush would have shown any rider or object moving. Without actually being there and seeing the terrain in the high desert or knowing the scenario, making assumptions or accusations based on brief statements without knowing the area doesn’t really show much in your understanding of the diversity of off road environments. In this situation, there is a 5 mile stretch that runs under power lines in a straight line with long sweeping s turns so you can see a dust trail and objects moving for miles in either direction. Hardly a safety issue or reckless endangerment of other trail users.

LOL, as I’m watching this video, my new bike is back at the bike shop having my Maven brakes worked on. Second ride and they starting behaving exactly as being described in this video. I hope it is not a recurring issue, as I just spent a lot of money on this bike. Great review.

@ A bleed and piston massage seems to have done the trick. Time will tell. The new Transition Relay PNW comes with the Maven Silver, as opposed to last years model which, as you know, had the TRP DH brakes. They also dropped the SRAM XO wireless transmission for a SRAM GX cable system, which I’m not happy about. The bike is still awesome. I decided on this bike largely based on your review and do not regret my decision. Thanks.

I'm sorry but this video could been done with any other brakes, the results will be the same. If you want to show the capabilities of something that is supposed to be better than others you must show numbers, probably a test in a laboratory or test in real world side by side with others within the same situations. I'm not saying is your fault on the video, but the Magura Marketing team to propose this format. Also if the video is a colaboration or sponsored by Magura, you should indicate in your video
@TheLoamWolfКүн бұрын
It’s neither a long term in depth review or a sponsored or paid for marketing video. We happened to be in the area and had the opportunity to stop by, ride the new brakes and learn about them as they’re a new product. Our goal was to show a newer product, and provide some initial feedback on how they performed on a rental bike, in unfamiliar terrain. It seems perhaps you were looking for a different video than this one.

Bad Urach (the location) is actual known for very tight corners on the trail. Here pivot turns with a lifted backwheel are a most do technique. From the video it seems that the brake hasn't been tested for this manover technique... any feedback how the brake behaves here would be great, thanks !!!
@TheLoamWolf15 сағат бұрын
It is well controlled, and more than powerful enough to stop the front wheel under 220lbs (100kg) tester Robert. So, it should be great for a nose pivot.

Beware: Read Cannondale’s fine print in their Limited Warranty Policy. They may use it against you for their best interest. My $5000.000 carbon fiber frame Jekyll broke after six years of use. Cannondale never made a finding that it was due to use or abuse. A hairline crack formed at a weak point in the frame. The bike was sold to me with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The best offer Cannondale gave me, under their lifetime warranty, was 20% of or retail - yes, that is right 20% off of retail. I fought them on it over a two month period and lost. So, I am now stuck with a 34lb paperweight. Cannondale has what I feel is the worse warranty in the bike business. If you do purchase a Cannondale bike and something goes wrong, know that they probably will not work with you at any level in your best interest. In my opinion, they do do not value you as a customer, they only value your money. This has been my experience.

I bought the Shimano 801 powered pivot LT and it's a great bike, I rode the bosch bike on the same day and I chose the Shimano motor because it was just as good as the Bosch .Then When I updated the Shimano to the 5.3.2 update and turned the overrun all the way up it was better than the Bosch, and that's riding both bikes back to back on the same Trail at South Mountain. I got the shuttle because the Rocky Mountain altitude I had burned my garage down when it's battery exploded for no reason. My other bike was a canyon torque on cf, and it has way better rear suspension than the pivot or any other emtb bike for that matter. The canyon just ran over Rock Gardens that upset the pivot and my Pivot has all the best stuff on it. Too bad Canyon has a big battery problem right now. The great thing about the pivot is it's silence, really quiet. No clanking or rattles. all of my friends are amazed by how quiet it is.

I have no love for SRAM at the moment on account of my issues with Transmission but the Mavens really benefit from switching to metallic pads in my experience. At first, I had tons of issues with the initial bite point on my Mavens before they get pumped up a bit. To address this, I got into the habit of pumping the brakes a little before dropping into my first descent of the day and that helped a lot but eventually that benefit also faded. When I went to bleed the brakes I noticed that the pads were pretty much roached (less than 6 weeks riding with stock organic pads). I've since switched to metallic pads and they have been more consistent. At 4 months they're just starting to fade initially, needing pre-pump before dropping in.

Finally someone who tests brakes and weighs more than 160lbs. As a 240lbs rider I need to know what works and what doesn’t I rode code rsc 220/220 hs2’s and galfer pro pads just to stop happily. Then I tried 220/220 on Shimano 4 pots and it changed the way I ride. I brake later and harder the brakes don’t overheat and work like they should. I ran magura mt5s for a bit but the seals in the caliper kept blowing. 😂 otherwise I love my Shimano brakes.
@Kev2Bee3 күн бұрын
Big brakes for heavy loads. Let's also go to 11spd drives like XT LINKGLIDE.
@Kev2Bee3 күн бұрын
Hooray, brakes that match potential high e-mtb system weights! MTB or on an e-MTB with a total system weight around 280 lbs/127 kg? Pick your components thoughtfully. My ride is a 2023 Orbea Rise M-10, and I’m about 20 lbs under that bikes' limit of 304 lbs/138 kg. I should carry less crap with me. 😁 I like my Magura MT7-Pro, long DH levers, P.8 pads, paired with SRAM 200mm HS2 6-bolt 2.0mm rotors. After a year the rotors are still within spec and I’ve only had to bleed the levers a few times to keep everything feeling like new. The P.8 pads are a good match for the SRAM rotor hardness. I no longer have a need for sintered pads as I usually would on other systems (TRP & Shimano). I never liked SRAM levers because of the feel. If the SRAM rotors do get a little bent, they’re easy to straighten out. The MT7 lever clamps also don't need to be immovably tight to be flex free. So, when crashes occur the lever will rotate on the bar instead of getting mangled (old Moto-X setup technique ). Gustav Pro vs Maven? Endurance or outright power? It is not possible to be over-braked where I live. The MT7 Pro is awesome but do the Gustav Pro also suggest more e-integration? Oh, please don't believe ABS is a winning idea. Happy riding!
@bmallory3 күн бұрын
Put one on my ebike and power and modulation was there. Since then i broke two sets of levers: I will never buy magura again
