Im a parker I.M user for almost 8 years now, partner with parker 45 that my father gave to which he used when he is still working, I will never forget that 45 , my dad uses it since the 80s now its mine😊

I like the standard Parker Jotter. Well designed, well priced and reliable also. I have a couple of the Parker IM's as well. Nice, but the premium version is better as all metal. I agree the plastic part on the standard one let's it down.

Some Parker IM ballpoint pens have a metal end, i.e. they're all metal.

i have the older models of the jotter. love them. but the all stainless slips in my hand when i write. i prefer the plastic tip which I find easier to keep my fingers on. but despite loving the jotter, i usually use the all steel f701. its weight, its grip, much better than the jotter. for everyday writing, i use the f701. for more formal business needs, i bring out the jotter with easyflow refill.

Nice review! The F-701 is just a plastic pen sheathed in stainless steel. I am not sure what all the fuss is about it. Unscrew the F-701 tip a bit, jam it onto a notepad, and you will see the plastic start to slide out of the top. The good thing is, the F-301 can be full disassembled, then reassembled, but the limited variety of ink refills left me disappointed. I prefer the Parker XL much more these days, but the plastic bits are also a drawback.

Thaks for your review. I almost buy the Jotter XL blackj matte. Here in Indonesia, the price about 35-45US$. While the classic stainless Steel and standard SS about 15-20US$. At the end I bought the regular black-stainless which about 8US$ and find the Parker 45 at thrift shop for 7US$. No matter that the gold clip already fading out, as long as the body and spring is great. The patina even makes it precious for me.

Sounds like a great find. Their pricing of the Xl makes no sense with the low cost of the regular size.

@@justasksam indeed. The new product not as good as the old one. We know the resources become limited. Why Parker didn't open the recycle system? Every spare parts could be rearrange to be a new one. The purpose of high quality pen isn't an eternity, but sustainability? Yes the material endurance, refillable.. but indeed they need new sustainability concept in their production process. That's why I thought for the thrift pens. Better quality and been approved by time. 😊

@@yunitasoemarno.Y503 when you mention new ones aren't as good as old, are you referring to the classic (UK) vs modern parkers (french)? I bought a UK classic parker jotter, and have a modern jotter XL on the way, both for £10. I hope the quality is similar 😬

@@smoothie9931 It's different. I have new jotter, the standard one with plastic barrel-stainless head. Made in France. But it's the cheapest one. And not as good as my Dad's pen. Unfortunately, I lost the old one, that's why I bought the same model. The stainless head verry thin. The plastic not as sturdy as the old one. That's why I ended bought the Bond Street and the stainless chisseled, on their way. Wish better since the price twice and 2,5 times from the regular. I bought the old parker 45 at thrift store. Gold clip which has faded. But the barrel thickness is better. Heavier, sturdier. The newest parker I have is IM maybe from 2005-2010 when they still produce in UK. The price of the similar type today about 30US$ here in Indonesia. The new made in France, but has lower quality. Looks the same quality would be in premium line which 45-50US$.😁 But I still curious about new jotter, excited to know, although lower my expectation. 🤭 I noticed the screw drat mostly in plastic. Not metal to metal anymore. I only know if you got the soft bristle arrows with P logo at the button, that is the UK's. The old pen which has the ring-arrow logo at the button, the body of pen, the 7 straight bristles arroew clip, made in UK/CANADA/US/FRANCE is legit quality. And the last one, the newest one, made in france with 3 big bristles arrow, with the ring-arrow logo at the head/holder, and no logos at the button. Some how the Luxort ( India) made is better for me. 😁 for their medium & affordable range line. While the France's .. looks they focused with the premium product that you could buy offline at their official counter or online at their official website.

@@yunitasoemarno.Y503 here are my findings; the classic parker is better quality, on the click, and feels nicer to write with. The modern French version has thicker metal, but doesn't have a very nice click.

I own both the jotter and F-701. I recommend skipping the F-701 and buying the F-xMD instead. That one beats all these easily. Then get a Jotter too, as your backup EDC. You'll be all set then!

It's a ballpoint and that is up to you to put in a refill that you prefer so no need for writing that is more important when it comes to fountain pen reviews how the nib writes comparing extra fine vs fine nib writing for example etc etc...

I've been on the lookout for an all metal or as metal of a pen i can get that won't break the bank and I think the ss Jotter shown here is going to be my stopping point. A bit disappointed in the plastic threads of the xl, after using a jotter for a week I feel it's just a tiny bit small for anything other than a quick scribble but still very nice. I might still buy an xl to try it though. I didn't like the f701, it's not comfortable to write with and the refills aren't very good. I don't mind the industrial looks though. Every other pen I've looked at either doesn't take a decent ballpoint ink refill (which I prefer over gel or liquid roller for a daily pen) or is around $100 or more. Which I understand isnt bad for an all metal machined pen being a machinist myself but I don't want to pay that for a pen honestly.

Parker Jotters and Sheaffer Sentinels in metal are very reliable. Sheaffer 300 all metal too

Easily Jotter XL (can't believe they still do not have a matching pencil) hands down. Zebra just looks like you said too industrial and cannot write with it for too long due to annoying knurls which hurt after a few min of writing and the grip area is too wide.

For me the IM wins by default - the F-701 is solid but too short, both the Jotter and XL too skinny.

Not for me, but it’s all personal preference. The F-701 has been hardly used since recording this, just don’t like the feel of it. Got a jotter xl in stainless as well, but keep coming back to the xl in Matte black
