Good video. I'm also a guitar player and I just bought a 6 string banjo too. Like your idea with using the anthem controls. Mine is a closed back so I don't think I can do the same thing. Thanks

Thank you for putting this video together! Here’s a little something I learned the other day that might put you at ease about the “cardinal sin” of 6-string banjos: The 6-string banjo came about when banjos were much more popular than guitars. It was created as a transitional instrument to ease players into learning guitar. So todays idea of 6-string banjos being for lazy guitarists is actually completely backwards. Now you can throw that fact at any uptight gatekeeping 5-string players that try to give you grief!

Hi Kevin, Thank you for sharing your experience, this may be similar to the route I go. I am wondering why you chose to place the magnetic pickup so close to the neck, rather than closer to the bridge. Your video demonstrates that the mic brings in a lot of the highs, and that the magnetic pickup sounds muddier without the mic and piezo. I'm wondering if the difference in sound might be reduced by placing the pickup closer to the bridge, providing a clearer and more accurate sound with just the magnetic pickup.

The strings are closest to the pick up near the neck, I'm afraid the further back I bring it, the weaker the signal will be. It's already pretty weak, compared to most other magnetic pick ups. I enjoy the contrast in the available tones.

Use the LR Baggs Lyric on my 5 strin and 4 string , I dont fix to the skin to much scratching sound, I put mic on inside of hoop near the neck and it sounds great . On 4 string also have a EMG ACB banjo humbucker but it does not sound like the Lyric.

i personally live that scratching sound, but i can see it being annoying i never thought to put it on the hoop, i imagine that would be a more even sound this full anthem may be the best of both worlds, but the lyric is better for having a simple volume control. probably sounds better with a full band. the anthem helps with a six string, having more bass in the signal for solo performances
